I have used Zingotel for more than 2 years. The phone quality is OK to me. Recently I decide to cancel this service since I barely use it. Then I realize it is so difficult to cancel this service. First I called their customer service and was told that I cannot cancel the service through the phone. I have to send a cancellation email to their service department. After sent in cancellation email, I received 2 emails asking me if I need any help. I replied that all I need is to cancel my account. After one week, I called their customer service again to verify the status of my account. My account was still active. This time they closed my account on the phone.

I have to be honest, the reliability has been okay but addressing/fixing the issue takes time. I submitted a ticket online when my 800 number did not work, they kept closing the ticket without contacting me. I ordered a fax number through their website and, it was never setup. My phone was out for about 5 days recently because they were "updating a server". Generally, when you update a server, you leave a working one to service customers! Now, I have to dial 1 and the area code when I call any local number. I was told two weeks ago it would be fixed "soon". Decent price if you can tolerate it but I am in the process of switching over to Vonage.

I've been over 2 years with this service now, without another landline or cellphone to back it up. Service quality is close to perfect (a half-dozen times in two years an outbound call won't connect, and sometimes the people on the other end report not hearing me well) but it's really no big deal. In terms of customer service, I've only had two dealings with them; at the beginning I couldn't get a dial tone (they sent me a new adapter and it worked fine) and when I installed a router (they were able to get it working remotely). I found by submitting a trouble-ticket by email was the pain-free. The adapter really reduces your internet upload speed (not Zingo's fault), I found on internet forums that a router first solves that problem and it did for me. Considering it costs only a tiny fraction of a regular land-line phone it's a no brainer.

If you pull up the OPERATIONAL HEADQUARTERS ADDRESS for Zingotel you get a UPS Store. A packaging and shipping provider. A REAL SCAM!
