I read through all the other comments here before I started to enter mine. Right from the start, I had a problem with the VoIP modem not working...A quick "read" through the "manual" that came with it told me to "open" port 5060 on my router and direct it to a static IP address for (of) the modem. "POW" and there it was... dial tone - un-interrupted for almost a year now. I think my key point here for those that have problems with this service - "RTFM" first, then call. Actually - they (voip.net) just sold out to Broadvox anyway, hope I'm "grandfathered" into the same pricing plan... Broadvox is $10.00 a month more for the same plan.

I have been voip.net customer for about a year. You can not get the customer support most of the time. They come to work for an hour or two in the day if they come at all. Resolving any issue is impossible as they never reply to your e-mails. The billing is frequently wrong and getting it corrected is next to impossible. Better keep away from this provider.

Reviewers Comments:

Ordering through the website was easy but reaching anyone by phone took me to voicemail unless I chose the sales department. The sales rep I wound up talking to, Jessica Laborde, eventually dealt with me by e-mail to say that they were having trouble issuing me a phone number, to please be patient, and that the fault lay with "my local phone company" because they weren't giving Voip.net any numbers to use. Last I knew, local companies have no control over the allocation of numbers. So I asked Jessica for my no-hassle money-back guarantee. She wrote back to say that the guarantee expired after fourteen days and that I had gone over that period already. So no phone number, no dialtone -- and no refund. I had no other option than to file a dispute with my credit card company.

Reviewers Comments:

VOIP.NET IS A HUGE SCAM. I don't believe that they have provided anyone with any type of VOIP service. In the beginning of April I went to their site and liked what I saw. So assuming that they were legit, I filled out the order form. Their system keeps rejecting my data "system time out it said". So I went on. Not knowing that they will keep charging my credit card with out any sort of notification or anything else what so ever. I could not get hold of anybody there. The meaning of customer service is a voice mail that hangs up on you. You can’t even leave a message. They have not yet answered even one of my emails.....I had told a neighbor and he almost has gone through identical situation as I. It has cost us about $100 till now. I had chosen the plan 12,95 but they are charging my card 27,95 the most expensive one. I guess their wrong assumption has probably been on their part that most of their customers are not wealthy enough to go after them. But guess again....there will be a law suit and posting on the VOIP boards with warnings and an invite for those scammed to join in the suit. Take care.

Reviewers Comments:

The customer services department needs a lot of work in customer relationship management. I am extremly unhappy with how they deal with their customers. Besides they are very beaurocratic they don't behave and one manager hang the phone on me. It is a new company that needs a lot of work. I wanted to expedite the porting of my number. They said that is not possible I have to wait for 30-60 days due to problems with my current provider. I contacted my current provider, MCI, and asked them about the problem. MCI immediately offered me all the information and told me just forward it to your new provider and they will be able to transfer your number immediately. I forwarded the information to VoIP.net and asked them to respond to me. I waited for a week just to know if the portability of my number is feasible or not. Guess what they still insisted on the 30-60 days, so I cancelled my subscription. Their service might be ok, but if you are looking for a good customer services don't subscribe with them.

I've had this service for over a month..made numerous calls to custumer support..they make nothing but promises to fix my issue and to call me back..well the problem is still not resolved and they never called me back..also when you call them for a problem plan on being on hold for at least 30 minutes if not more..I really have to say the support is real bad..I wanted this to work out because I had some problems with verizon but from what I see verizons customer service blows voip.net away and I will be cancelling the service as soon as I get 30 or more minutes to sit on hold...

Reviewers Comments:

I'm afraid I can't comment on the service quality because I've never received service! The first phone adapter they sent me was bad, so they shipped a second adapter, which I also couldn't get to work, and I couldn't get anyone to return my call to Tech support for help. After two failed attempt at establishing service, and no help or sympathy solving the problem, I decided to cancel and switch to another provider (I also questioned the reliability of the equipment after having rec'd two defective products in a row). However, now I'm being told that I will still have to pay the original shipping charges on BOTH phone adaptors! So, they're making me pay for the shipping on two faulty products -- none of which was my fault! So much for their "no-risk, no-hassle money back guarantee". I'm still waiting on a call back from a manager to dispute the shipping charges. Most (not all) of the CS reps I have spoken with just want to get you to hang up the phone, and are not at all interested in solving your problem. What ever happened to the "Service" in "Customer service?" Stay away! Try a more reputable VoIP Provider.

Reviewers Comments:

I wish I could say this was a great service. I mean they offer unlimited calling all over north america for $20 a month, and they include all these great features. The customer service reps sound like they want to help you and keep reassuring you that they'll "call you back" and "this matter should be resolved in 48 to 72 hours". That's utter BS. They tell you the stuff they know will shut you up. Ever since our service started it has had problems. If it does work, which isn't too often, you either can't call all numbers for some reason, or while on a call it will just cut you off. I have spent countless hours on the phone with their CSR's trying to get them to tell me something real, and not just the BS I hear every time. If you call you are sure to be put on hold for rediculously long periods of time over nothing. You will ask something like "I have a charge on my card that doesn't belong there" and they'll say, hold on one moment, and take 5-10 minutes to come back on the phone. Its a great price for what they advertise, unfortunately what they advertise is a scam.

This company is a big joke. The service is really bad. I am sure none of the reps had got a high school diploma and most of them are liars. The service was NOT connected in 15 days after I received the adapter and made hundreds of calls to ask for help. All reps insisted the problem was because I use cable modem and voip.net only works on DSL modem and also they claimed they were real professional technically. The problem was solve until they sent a outsourcing technician when I asked for a cancellation of service. Then they overcharged three times in such a short period of time and nobody understood the bill although they all claimed they were mathmaticians. They even charged me without any statement last time. Then they claimed it is for the future and I will see the bill later maybe next year. I am fed up with voip.net. I don't want to waste time and money anymore. This is the worst company I never ever met. No matter you are technical geeks or top mathmaticians.

After switching from Lingo (which was horrible) I did some research and found Voip.net. The service was great once I was setup. Which by the way a Voip Rep helped me out with. I am very pleased with the service! I recommend Voip.net they have the same features as Vonage but at a better price!

Hey all! I'm a Computer Technician out of Homestead FL. I have had service with Voip.net for 9 months now!  I don't understand why so many people don't like this company. The customer service was outstanding! If your having quality problems its your internet connection not the company. Think about it, this is a service that runs off of YOUR internet connection. They have no control of your connection speed. People don't realize this. If you switch companies and you have bad connection your going to have problems no matter what. As far as my connection its really high so my quality sounds great using voip.net lines. Most of all the price of 19.95 (taxes included)  is great! I recommend this service to people interested in a reliable company. Great prices, features and service all in one bundle.

I ordered service on 6/13, of course, they charged me immediately for service.  Received the "idiot box" in a week time.  Waited for 15 days for a phone number.  All I got was "the number is not available at this time, however we assure you a number will be available within 30 days".  Spoke to Customer Service agents probably more than half a dozen time, even know names like Melody, Emmanuel, Michael and a manager who hates calling customers back when there is a problem named Danny. 45 days later, they still couldn't provide me with a number.  I disputed the charges with the credit card company.  Wrote a letter to the attorney general's office of Florida.  All I got from VOIP.net was a run around.

Here's the kicker. I called VONAGE on 7/12. Spoke to the agent on the phone, and before I had disconnected 10 minutes later, I had a telephone number assigned to me and a virtual number in Canada. VOIP, shut down your doors.  There are better companies out there for 5 more dollars a month !

Reviewers Comments:

We decided to give VOIP a try at our new address.  We chose Voip.net because it was one of only two providers offering a local area code in our area.  Service has been terrible.  We have been unable to receive incoming calls for two weeks now.  For the last five days we've been unable to make out going calls.  The tech support has been incredibly unhelpful and disorganized.  I've now been kept waiting for a new IP modem supposedly sent by overnight mail for ten days.  Every time we call back a different person reviews the order, then, after a long wait explains that they have no record that it was sent.  I have frankly been lied to by at least one member of the service team who told me that he had verified that a modem was sent out, that it had left the previous day, and that I should expect it at the latest the following morning, only to hear the next afternoon that no request to send out the modem was even in the system!  I have asked to speak to someone at a supervisor level, but no one has returned my call.  Over three weeks I have personally spent over eight hours on the phone with VOIP.NET - much of this on hold.  All I have gained from this is that I now know the names of all members of their customer "service" team.  I am amazed that this provider is allowed to keep its license.
