I can't imagine a worse service. I've waited for porting in my phone number for six weeks. Faxed the authorization forms them three times. The customer service department even could not tell me if they received my fax. Neither did they tell me if they sent out request or not and refused to refer me to the manager. They always say they will get back to me, and never did.
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Sophia, We're sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with number porting back in 2007. Over the years, iTalkBB has greatly improved the porting process. Today, number transfers are handled much faster, with clear instructions and status updates. Our systems are digitalized, so customers no longer need to fax forms multiple times. We also provide 24/7 bilingual (Mandarin, Cantonese, English) customer service, with supervisors available to assist if extra support is needed. We appreciate your past feedback - it helped us improve and provide a much smoother experience for today's customers.

iTalkBB provides great products and services. The pricing is great, the sales and service reps are very good. The product takes less than 2 minutes to set up without any help, the sound quality is excellent, the China call number works great. I would highly recommend this company and their products to everyone.
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Mountain King, Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the easy setup, excellent sound quality, and the China call number feature. Since 2007, we've continued to expand our services - now beyond home phone to include iTalkBB Prime App, Smart Home Security, Chinese TV box with Karaoke, and Travel Data SIM cards. Our goal has always been to bring more value and convenience to our customers. We truly appreciate your recommendation and long- term support!

Getting my previous number ported to ItalkBB was a bit more challenging than need be, but successfully completed after several days. Initially, voice quality was extremely poor. Accompanied by poor reliability, and frequent dropped calls. Sometimes the phone would ring, but you couldn't hear the caller on the other end, though the caller could hear you. This was sometimes resolved by rebooting the router, modem, and iTalkBB box. After several calls to ITalkBB, they agreed to replace to call box with another. Since then, the system is working more reliably, with better voice quality. Customer service is average to good. You will find better response to seek a Chinese speaker, though many in the customer service department speak English. They do follow through on a good to excellent basis. Be prepared to stick to your guns and things will get done. Downsides are: 1. No voicemail 2. No call waiting 3. Voice quality sometimes poor, especially during peak bandwidth hours. Pluses: 1. Certainly free calls to China, with a free China number for family and friends. That alone makes the service unbeatable at the price. Reliability and service are slowly improving.
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Jesse, Thank you for sharing your detailed experience. We're glad to hear that after replacing the call box, your service became more stable with better voice quality. Since 2007, we've made big improvements - adding voicemail, call waiting, mobile app integration, and much better reliability. We also expanded our services beyond phone, now offering iTalkBB Prime App, Smart Home Security, Chinese TV Box (with Karaoke), and Travel Data SIM cards. We appreciate your patience and support during the early years, your feedback helped us improve!

By far the worst phone service I have ever had in my life! The quality of the service is terrible. Over 50% time, you can hardly hear what the other side is talking about. The tech service line is very difficult to get through. Many times, no one on the other side of the line. Difficult to cancel the service and they will keep charging your credit card without even the acknowledge from the user. This company charge custom a large setup fee and told user that it include the equipment and activation, while I try to cancel the service, they will ask you to send the ipbox back on you own expense. They do not even return the fees that user never used for the next month. Just terrible experience. I felt that I got robbed by someone!!!
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Ken, We're very sorry to hear about your negative experience back in 2007. At that time, our service was still new and indeed had limitations in quality and cancellation process. Since then, we've completely upgraded, our phone service now offers clear and stable voice quality, voicemail, call waiting, mobile app features, and we've also expanded into TV, Smart Home Security, and Travel SIM/eSIM cards. We also made our cancellation and equipment return process much simpler in recent years to avoid the kind of frustration you mentioned. Thank you for your feedback, it helped us improve to where we are today.

NEVER EVER go to this horrible provider - iTalkBB. (1) Quality of sound nearly as talk on your can. Friends call in, required attempt to dial SEVERAL times and get ONE connection finally, Caller ID with NO name, Credit charged never the same on your bill if you live in Canada. (They have used US$ or CAD$ mixed for my last 8 months). (2) As they offer the 30 days FREE trial, It is NOT truth! They did charge which called "Deposit" credit $39.98 for sending VoIP adapter when I signed up 8 months ago. But, After the first 30 days, if you DO NOT CANCEL it, this "Deposit Fee" will be called as" Activation FEE" on your trial month. (It's NOT REFUNDABLE! ) So, WATCH OUT! IT'S NOT FREE at ALL. What A FRAUD!
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Shane, Thank you for sharing your experience from 2007. We're sorry to hear about the frustration you had back then. At that time, our billing and trial policy were not as clear as they should have been, and the sound quality of VoIP was still limited. Since then, we've made major improvements - billing is now fully transparent in CAD, trial terms are clearly explained, and our phone service has stable sound quality with caller ID name display. We've also grown to provide Chinese TV, Smart Home Security, and Travel SIM/eSIM cards, alongside a simplified cancellation and equipment return process. Your early feedback helped us improve, and today our goal is to deliver much clearer service and better value for customers.

Terrible! Stay away from italkBB. Total rip off. Equipment never worked. You can almost never get through to anyone to discuss an issue. When you do reach someone they can hardly speak english. Then they lie to you. I've been trying for 8 months to cancel this service. Each time they say, no problem - it's cancelled. then my credit card gets charged. Today they tell me I can cancel anytime and pay the $70 penalty. Or I can wait till the exact day the 'service' is 1-year old to cancel. If I wait even a day over, I'll be obligated for a second year and pay another penalty. Disgusting that a scam like this is legal. BE WARNED!!!
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Jean, We're sorry to hear about your experience back in 2007. At that time, our cancellation and billing processes were indeed complicated and not as customer-friendly as they should have been. Over the years we have made major improvements - today cancellation is straightforward, equipment return is simplified, and all fees are clearly listed upfront in CAD. Our support team is now bilingual (English, Mandarin, Cantonese) with 24/7 availability. Your early feedback helped us see where change was needed. We are committed to ensuring that today's customers receive clear, honest, and reliable service.

Don't go with ITalkBB. HORRIBLE Experience. Simply the phone stopped working, I mean 100% not working. Called customer service, they know the problem already. However it will take another one week to receive a new adaptor, the Rep even doesn't know what is "UPS Overnight". I was told that they need collect all the information for the bad units first, then they will ship out the replace unit. Again, don't go with them unless you have a second line for backup.
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi, We're sorry to hear about your experience back in 2007. At that early stage, iTalkBB was still building its service platform, and equipment replacement and logistics were not as efficient as they should have been. Since then, we've made major improvements: Faster device replacement and shipping (with express delivery options). 24/7 bilingual technical support (English, Cantonese, Mandarin). Much more stable hardware and network quality. Your feedback from the early years helped push us to improve. Today, customers no longer face the delays you described.

My experience with iTalkBB is really bad. I used it for about two months (supposedly 1 month free trial and 1 month paid). It is very hard to get through the line with iTalkBB when I call people in China. In that case, I switched to another line provided by Verizon, then I can get through immediately. In many times, iTalkBB connection was just through in single direction, i.e., I could hear my peer, but he could not hear me, or the other way around. After the disappointed experience for two months, I cancelled my iTalkBB account recently. An extra surprise is that they charge me on that trial month also, which was promised to be a free month. So I paid the two months and that's definitely the last two months I would use with iTalkBB in my life.
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Bob, We're sorry to hear about your experience from 2007. At that time, iTalkBB's service platform and call routing were still under development, and connection quality to China was not as stable as it should have been. The trial plan policies also lacked clarity back then. Since then, we have made significant improvements: Much more reliable international call quality, including China. Transparent contract and billing policies, no confusion on free trial periods. 24/7 bilingual support (English, Cantonese, Mandarin) to resolve issues quickly. Thank you for your feedback back then - it helped us improve. Today, customers enjoy a far more stable and transparent service.

I had such a HORRIBLE experience with this company it's incredible. First The setup instructions is a chaotic mess, and they did not specify that the VOIP box needs to connect to a specific end of the cable they provided, and that the other way around doesn't work. My poor mom spent 2-3 days and countless phone calls and wasted countless minutes on my cell phone to test the damn thing before she was finally able to make a chopped up phone call. Second, the service is VERY UNRELIABLE. You cannot count on it to be your main phone line. Sound quality is horrible and 75% of the times people can hardly hear me where as the other 25% of time I can't hear the other person. I'm sure one of those days somebody would end up getting killed by some criminal because he has to repeat his address 20 times to 911 before they can hear him. It's not just us. My uncle's family who told us about iTalkBB were having so much trouble not being able to make or receive calls that they hand to cancels the service as well. Third, and this is the part that pisses me off THE MOST. Basically we were fed up with the thing at the end of the month and wanted to cancel it, and they said that THEY'D HAVE TO CHARGE US 25 FOR THE TRIAL MONTH WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FREE when the sales rep called us to advertise. Supposedly if you use the phone for more than 500 min per month, you have to pay for the first month. This was NOT mentioned to us at the time of sale or in any of the emails!! It was NOT anywhere on the front page of the website as the customer rep claimed. Not to mentioned that the customer rep INSULTED and accused me of just wanting to use the service for a month and not pay! Not to mention that they won't refund the expense to mail back the equipment! After spending an hour an half on the phone complaining and telling them how they are basically cunning money out of us, I finally told them that they can charge us for the first month, and that I'd write countless reviews to warn everybody, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS SENSELESS COMPANY!!! So here I am. Please do not subject yourself to the pain I went through. This is a scam company that steals, lies and have horrible service!
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi Yi Yan, We're sorry to hear about your experience from 2007. At that time, our setup guides and service platform were not as clear or stable as they should have been. Trial period terms also caused confusion, and customer service was not always able to provide clear and respectful communication. Since then, we've made major improvements: Clearer setup process with simple plug-and-play instructions. Much more stable voice quality and reliability, suitable as a main phone line. Transparent free-trial and billing policies so customers know exactly what to expect. 24/7 bilingual support (Mandarin, Cantonese, English) with better training for service quality. We thank you for your feedback back then, it helped us grow. Today's iTalkBB service is far more stable and transparent compared to 2007.

This service is targeted to Chinese users. Service to non-Chinese speakers is pretty low. I gave up after waiting 20 minutes for customer service in English. Customer service replies to emails in several days. Reliability of connection is low. I usually have to dial a number several times to get through. Right now, the connection's not working at all (I have a dial tone, but my number is "temporarily not in service.")
VISITOR/PROVIDER FEEDBACK:
iTalkBB Representative (Sept 2025) : Hi E w, We're sorry to hear about your experience from 2006. At that time, our service was still new and mainly targeted Chinese-speaking customers, which made English support slow and limited. Reliability of connection also wasn't as stable as it should have been. Since then, we have made major improvements: 24/7 customer service now available in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Faster response times - phone and email support are much quicker. Improved network stability - call connection success and voice quality are significantly better. Simpler account management so issues like "temporarily not in service" are resolved promptly. Your early feedback helped us understand customer needs better. Today's iTalkBB service is far more reliable and bilingual-friendly than it was back in 2006.
