Reviewers Comments:

If there is an issue of iTalkBB phone service, customer support always asks you to restart cable modem/wireless router/adapter and the process will take very long time. Very inconvenient. If first line support cannot help, the waiting time for support engineer will be very long. Poor service.

Reviewers Comments:

After a ItalkBB sale rep called my number and introduced their phone and TV feature and price. I agreed to give it a try. Sale rep promised that there will be no any charge for trying a month. The phone line is really bad with voice delayed. TV never got worked. I called them to cancel the service and returned unit. They still charge me for shipping fee of $20 and one month of phone charge $8.99. when I called customer service and asked why they charged me about $30 when they promised me to have one month free for trying. The response I got is that they would not return the money because I have used their phone line. When I asked to talk to management they refuse to transfer phone or do anything about it. This is a total scam!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god, I declined their service or it would be a nightmare!!!!! Don?t do any business with this company!!!!!!!!!

Reviewers Comments:

Order this service for my parents a few years ago when Verizon charges an arm and a leg for their land line service. italkBB did a cold call to my parents and my parents ask me about it and told them to give it a shot. Service was good in the beginning and then call quality getting bad the past year. So I started researching on VOIP and see that there are many.. and I mean many services out there that it's @ a fraction of the price. I have tested a few other providers and call quality sound great. Recently decided to cancel italkbBB so I started the number porting process with my new provider. This is when the nightmare begin. After over two months, italkBB was not able to help me with my port rejection due to an address mismatch. I provided my new provider the exact service address as shown in the my italkbb.com portal. Back and forth italkBB kept on sending me the same address that was rejected from my original porting. My new provider was very patient and explain that italkBB have to contact thier CLEC to get the correct address. It seems like the italkBB LNP department has no idea what they are doing. So after two months of italkBB doing nothing to help me, I have to go Google this and Google that to pinpoint who holds my 718 number and with what service address. After an hour or so, I was able to pinpoint the CLEC that holds my number and the next morning, I called the CLEC and asked for the service address they have on record. The address is in Texas and definitely not my service address. My new provider resubmit the porting and got a FOC date. Good luck to those who try to port their number out of italkBB. They have no idea what they are doing when it comes to porting.

Very bad customer service. The poorest customer service I met in US. When they wanted your service, they say all good. If you tried to cancel it, a lot of very bad hiding policy comes. Never buy it.

I have been used iTalkBB for 10+ years until lately the VoIP LINKSYS box get crappy. I have used it for 6+ years. I had been reset/restart to extend LINKSYS box as long as I can but it dead completly today. I placed three calls and went through diagnosis with Tech Support and confirmed that the VoIP box need to be replaced. Tech support guys told me that an engineer is going to call me and confirm that then send me an new VoIP box but I never get a call from any body. I would like to say the service is good but no dial tone is really bad. When I request to replace my 2nd VoIP box six years ago that was smooth and I got it within 24 hrs. This time, iTalkBB just drags on and not helping me even I asked to speak to a manager or transfer me to an engineer, they told me "manager and engineer are busy". In what a world you get this kind of service? therefore I rate them REALY BAD. I am thinking to cancel the service.

Phone quality is poor most of the time. They said that they tried to fix the problem, but did not improve at all. I finally cancelled the account, but they want you to mail back their box, otherwise they will nail you $ 99.00 from your credit card. Their local sales office will not take the box. Their so called 'Support team' or whatever the name of the department they called which handle the closing account are not very clear on the instruction about the return of the box. I have a feeling that they do this on purpose, because they rather want to pocket $99.00 than collect the router box. Anyhow, if you are thinking of italkBB, forget it. I have suffered their poor service for two years until I finally made up my mind. It might sound cheap at first, but it is worth it.

If I ever hated someone and wanted to them to waste money, I would recommend them iTalkBB. As a plot for revenge, it would be ingenious. At first, their monthly rate looks kinda attractive, so does Yaoming's endorsement. When we got the trial, iTalkBB (without telling us) cancelled our phone service and wifi from AT&T. Their dinky little phone doesn't work without Wifi. So we had no phone service or WiFi, and we called to complain (using a pay phone.) After our asking to cancel and get a refund, their rep got angry at us and hung up. We then talked to another rep, who gave us a 30 minute lecture on the reasons to keep the service. After getting switched around departments, we were told they would call us back. We waited a week. Finally we talked to the manager, who said they would "allow" us to cancel after we returned the phone. We mailed it right away, but they claimed they didn't receive it until 3 weeks later. After cancellation iTalkBB kept charging us, until we disputed the charge. It has been a nightmare dealing w/ their psychotic sales reps and their stone cold managers. We have gone a month without phone or WiFi service. We have been charged by iTalkBB for all kinds of crap not previously mentioned and paid new fees to restart our AT&T subscription. WARNING TO ALL: YOU WILL REGRET GETTING THEIR SERVICE.

Two words; False advertisement. True, they had stuck to their words of "6 months 1 bucks" plan, but initially when we asked about the plan how much exactly was the canceling fee, they told us, and I quote (translated from Chinese) "100 dollars will be paid for terminal fee, and no other cost will be required." Now, when we wish to cancel it due to the lack of features in terms of values, they called us back, telling us we need to pay 2 month worth on top ($29 per month) as a MINIMUM. When we confronted them about it, they said it was "one sided". Whatever he meant by that, we have CONFIRMED that we had no extra terminal fees aside of the $100. I am thoroughly frustrated at this company, from the day we set it up till today, only trouble came from every corner came from the installation of their VoIP service; AND they don't even have service, their telephone operator can EASILY be replaced by answering machines, since all they do is either: A)Instruct you that enquiries can be answered through the website, B)Send you the email of links or pages that you must search through to obtain the information, C)Inform you that your bill is due. From their horribly delayed sound quality to the lack of physical service to consider them a "service" (since their job can be fulfilled, and outdone easily by skype), I can confidently suggest to you that there are better deals out there. Even if you call China alot (the only redeemable part of the service), there still are better deals out there. Once again, this service can easily be replaced by Skype. It's free too if both party has it.

I tried contact italkBB's tech support, but they can't help. I have no idea why it donsen't work at all. The value for the italkBB is good, but I am gonna to cancel it.

I have experience to use VoIP, and already used for few years. After switched to this company, I found my phone 70% call in/out busy. I call to the tech support line, they only blame my internet is not stable. My existing Citi`s VoIP still connecting in my network, due to the contract until next month. It still running great. I am pretty sure the my Rogers internet is good. I will try to terminate the contract with italkbb and need to disscus with their service rep. avoid early termination fee. Their monthly fee is very attractive, that`s why I was trapped. I am going to stay with my existing carrier.

it's same issue I got from Tulip (#68) who is also suffering same problem as I am and ITALKBB operation just like in China which is don't care customer(s) and illegal collecting money from my credit card account for more than 9 months. By law, the own number transfer to others then it will no longer provide service as FCC regulation but ITALKBB treat you as local resident in China. If everyone got same issue like me and Tulip then please come forward to fight with ITALKBB (Chinese company)

Stay away from ItalkBB. They charged premium deposit for the device and when I recently switch to other carrier, they would not refund my balance. Other carriers do not need to return the device. They would not close my account unless I return the device which I used more than two years already. Other carrier has much cheaper plan such as MagicJack. ItalkBB do not provide customer service. No one pick up the phone. I have to keep calling all the time. Do not use their service. They are like thief.

Stay away from ITALKBB!!! Italkbb guarantted us it was able to port in our old telephone number which we had over 8 years. Almost 2 months later, they were still not able to do that. The most frustrating thing was "No Customer Service" at all!! We had to keep calling them, and we were always told "to be patient". Italkbb outsourced their service, so if there was a problem, they had to contact the third party service provider and the only communication method between Italkbb and the the third party service provider was EMAIL. The telephone number of the third party listed on website is "Not in service", you can imagine how reliable this company would be. During the "port-in processing period", Italkbb provided us a temparory number and later on they provided us a number outside our city - it means everybody who lives in the same city with me has to call me long distance, how ridiculous it is! We eventually had Bell Canada to get our old number back. When we requested compensation for the service distuption period, they refused verbally and even refused to reply us back in writing.

Stay away from iTalkBB! As an user for more than 5 years, iTalkBB tried to increase charges and length of contract to 2 years. When I decided to go another provider, they tried not to process my request. It took me 3 days and a couple of hours to start to talk to them about my request. They said not to refund my prepaid balance. They also asked me to return all original package with VoIP box including all piece of paper such as instruction. Otherwise, I will be charged $59.99 for loss a piece of paper. Here is their email: "Please mail back iTalkBB's phone adapter in its original condition including, all packing materials with bar codes in tact, all parts and accessories, documentation and manuals and all other items originally received within fifteen (15) days of service termination. No refunds will be made to customer until iTalkBB receives the returned Equipment. If iTalkBB does not receive the returned equipment after fifteen (15) days, a $59.99 Equipment Fee will be charged to Customer's credit card, or we may turn your account over to a collection agency. NEVER GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER... EVER! About 3 months ago, an advertiser called my mother convincing her to try out a trial on iTalkBB and asked her for her credit card info. They told her she could cancel anytime she wanted and a package would arrive with the materials. When it arrived, we changed our mind and decided not to use iTalkBB because we simply changed our minds. WE called them to cancel, but it was more complicated than expected. They kept transferring our calls and kept us from canceling. 2 months passes and mom other gets a bill from her credit card company billing her for 1 month of service with iTalkBB we never even touched it or use their services. We finally called and sent back their package of materials canceling their services. Another month goes by and again, they charged us, but this time, it was a cancellation fee... We started out with a free trial and never used their services and ended up paying for nothing. NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR INFO. THEY'RE JUST ALL A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS!!

I'm based in Calgary but started subscription while in Hamilton. I have always been very satisfied with their services particularly the cost of service. The only downtime I have experienced so far is the occasional need to re-set modem. I'm using cable high-speed internet; I can't speak for DSL customers -- they seem to be having problems based on comments I've read. Also, there used to be communication when talking to customer reps but now they have very fluent English speaking reps and I'm happy. Would continue recommending to friends.

The salesman over the phone rush me to get the service started without caring what my current internet service is with DSL that connected with my phone line. Then I had to find out that I can't really replace my current phone number due to it so I ordered a new phone line with ItalkBB. I called them and told them about my issues over than three times; and I requested them to remove my credit card information from their system since I won't be their customer. After two months; I see they started to bill me the monthly service fee on my card; so I called the customer service and the refused to refund the moeny they billed me for not even hook up the phone box and use the line once!! Bad service all together; they rather to charge the $29 and lost a possible return customer!!

SCAM company!!! They can charge you however they want but never refund you since they have your credit card number. So many problems with them I don't want to mention but this one is outrageous -- when I canceled my service, they didn't give me the return address for the device until 15 days later, so they charged a late fee for $59.99. The customer service always gave you false information in order to charge you some money later. I just learned a greater joke -- they will charge you $300 if they don't receive the device in 30 days... What kind of device worth $300!!! And how do I suppose to know they can be trusted based on the lies they have been telling!!! If you want to use company, just be prepared that you are going to pay around $400 to get out. What a wonderful company with wonderful service!

The company is a scam. They will take your request for canceling service but keep charging your credit card monthly, and will refuse to refund the money. They will do everything to stop you from canceling the service and you will regret you ever used this company. Usually they make you pay hundreds of dollars to terminate the service. This is a follow up to my review back in April. I returned their equipment, paid their damn charges that they claimed I had........ based on 3 days of incoming calls when my service was not operational (my credit card on file had expired and they cut the service). It is now Dec and I get an email from my credit card company saying there was an unauthorized transaction. guess who? italkbb! $300 and some odd dollars. Now I have to wait till my credit card company sends me a new card before I can use it again. Funny, i thought it was over with them. Apparently not........... check your credit card history carefully, you may not be as lucky

I think some customers in the US is having problems with iTalkBB. I'm in Toronto, Canada and cannot be more happy with iTalkBB. I picked up the VOIP box from their retail store at First Markham Place. They told me I could return it in person if I was not happy. Their reps were fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English and was quite helpful and walking through the options, setup, and number porting. It came home with VOIP box, plugged into my router and was up and running in minutes. Voice quality is as good as my old Bell landline, with no quality loss even when I am streaming an HD movie from Netflix. That said, I have 16Mbps fibre service. Like all VOIP service, you need a decent internet connection, in my experience the some DSL and cable services are more likely to break-up or be choppy if there is a lot of latency on the connection. After one week, I submitted my request for number port-in. Make sure you do it from you account management page, there is another link on their webpage that brings up a totally different form. Took exactly one week to port-in my old number. Not bad. I haven't need to call customer support since I haven't run into any issues, but honestly service from their store, and documentation is pretty good. Only noticable shortcoming is some iTalkBB seems to have less of the advance VOIP features compared to some other provider. Frankly, the only one, I miss is autoforward if my line/connection is down. Other than that, I have to say everything is top notch so far. Highly recommend iTalkBB.

Very bad overall service, especially when you try to cancel it. First, they will say they can't cancel it, please wait to call back on the last day. Then you called on the last day, and you thought you have cancelled, but it is not. But the phone stop working to call out. Two months later, they will call you and said you owed them two months of service fees, and you better also return their equipment, otherwise they will put you through a collecting agency. When asked there was no service to make calls out, and they replied you have records of receiving calls. That their policy. If you don't want to go through these troubles, you'd better make a wise decision now.

The real bad part starts when you want to discontinue its service. You are asked repeatedly to reconsider your decision. Ordering was a pain it took several attempts to port my existing phone number over. I asked before purchasing if this would work with all my services. AT&T, ADT and Home phone. i was assured over and over it would. first thing was i went without a phone and internet for 1 week. next the service worked fine for about 1 month. then the sound went to crap. then i get a call from my alarm company stating they lost phone connectivity. so over the course of a week with several calls to AT&T and ItalkBB it does not support my alarm system. then i told ItalkBB i did not like thier pprogram and service and want to pay for the three months of service and cancel. over and over like a broken record they said i could not and they would charge me a cancellation fee if i did. the fact that they customer service reps barley speak english is an additional annoyance. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VOIP.

Terrible, repeat, terrible customer service. Extremely lacking if you need service in English. In fact, it seemed that they were more focussed on making you sign up for higher/more expensive plans rather than focussing on making the current plan work. Lots of hidden fees including the shipping & handling of the equipment, the fact that they charged 2x months at once rather than once per month (considering it's a monthly plan). Generally speaking, it was obvious the service reps (who were hard to get to on the automated service line) were on commission sales rather than service. They were constantly asking me why I wanted to do something and why I didn't do another more expensive way. When I finally had enough and wished to close the account, I was repeatedly hounded to reconsider, and they completely disregarded the fact that I actually had no further need for the phone service (I was moving AND disconnecting my internet!). I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone!

Do have a lot of nice features though. If you are not proficient with Asian languages, you will have problem seeking help. The English department have very low proficiency.

Overall, italkbb have reliability issues in terms of voice quality and customer service. If you have quality issues, you will have a hard time resolving. If you do not speak good Mandarin and rely on the English department, their level of proficiency is very limited and will have a hard time understanding time. You will hear a lot of echo sound when you use the phone - when you call them talk to your friends. If the phone service and quality is fine, you will be OK. However, if you have issues, it will be hard to get customer service to help you and hard for you to understand. Almost impossible to get a live person to talk to for service issues unless you call the sales lne. The sales line will then have to pass you to a live person. I have since use another VOIP service and sound quality is much much better and the the customer service is US based.

I can basically write a 10-page complains about iTalk BB. After one year land line (for home) service with iTalk I?m so glad that my contract is expired. The poor connections, customer services and unauthorized transfer my phone number to others during the contract just name a few, make me believe this company shouldn?t be in telecommunication business at all. Most of the consumers may not realize that iTalkBB is a Chinese operated company. The operations mainly happened in China. That?s the reason you received phone calls late at night, sometimes really late. I?ve been informed them don?t call me at this crazy hours but it still happens. Please keep in mind, running the telecommunication business in America cannot gear towards to only Chinese consumers. The majority customers are still American speaking English. So iTalkBB has to adapt to the cultures here and provide customers with Western courtesy and management. Train their customer service staff with proper manners, and most important of all, English speaking so people can understand.

Everything is smiles until you cancel... The story starts like this: my credit card on file is nearing its expiration date. It just so happens that it was around the time I was to renew... I really had no idea till one day the phone stops working. No warning, nothing. They don't make contact with you until you don't have service anymore - and furthermore they try to contact you at odd hours of the day, like 8pm, 11pm and when they do, it's hard to understand them because of their thick accent (they are geared to chinese customers.) So i log in online to put in my new credit card information. For some strange reason, it doesn't work. So I decide this is a good time to try vonage, who is now offering a very similar package for $15 for first 6 months (would like to try a big name in the business). Now here is where it gets messy. I want to cancel. Yes, online chat is available 24 hours but they cannot cancel their account. Their calls to you at odd hours reps cannot cancel either because they are in a "different" department and the proper dept is only open 9a-5p eastern time. Fine. A few days wasted cause I am speaking to these guys that can't help me. I finally get to talk to someone and lo and behold, I am charged for a whole month of service after they have already cut off my service with no prior notice, and to make matters worse, my record shows 3 days of usage past their "billing cycle" cut off date. how convenient that they cut you off AFTER the billing cycle. So I am arguing that it's not proper business practice to do something like that. But that's company policy, their bible says so. So along with me paying for the whole month to avoid their "collections" and their if you don't return our equipment upon 15 days you will be charged $59.99, I am left with a sour taste upon cancellation. No business operates like this - and I have been with them for over 4 years and referred customers to them too. So you decide if you want to put yourself through this.

Nice talk to get you sign-up for their service. Very bad in customer service. I had vonage before I switch to italkbb simply to save 10.00/mo. The biggest mistake I made. The quality is so bad, echo all the time and the other side could not hear our voice. Call italkbb technical service, they complain about my wireless phone is not compatiable with italkbb device (actually the same model as what vonage provided) and suggest me to change my wireless phone. what a joke. If you are in business to sign-up contract for fun and expect to receive no service, sign-up with italkbb. If you would like to get some level of quality service, try other voip company. I forgot to mentioned, the same date the technician in italkbb suggest me change my wireless phone I switch back to vonage, same wirell phone and circuit(lan), same model of cisco router, the voice just as clear as it can be. I will NEVER use ITALKBB again.

iTalkBB saves you tons of money when calling China. The best plan is $299 annual plan which can save you $29.99 activation fee plus 500 minutes of italkfreedom. To sign up, you may also save with italkbb coupon "ZG0901V25", I recommend you check at galaxy3.com for most recent promotion coupon.

I have some special network setup in my house which impacted voice mail. iTalkBB support staff helped me resolve the issue after a few calls. There has been no waiting time for support calls. Decent voice quality, rich features. My favourite feature is voice mail to email. The only downside so far is the phone porting. They said it would take 2-6 weeks to get my old number migrated. Now it's my 5th week and I'm still waiting. I echo some users' comments that the service is tuned for Manderin speaking customers. One of my Cantonese speakin frieds even got some service problems. For me, I am happy so far.

It is a nightmare for me to use iTalkBB. After the setup I noticed the voice quality was so poor that I have to turn off my dsl connection when using the phone. I called the customer service and I surprised to know what kind of service quality level they rendered, but it was too late. It's very hard to reach the right customer service rep., and each call took me least took 20 minutes to explain the same thing, over and over again. Finally I decided to cancel the service, which led to another nightmare. They asked me to call another number for cancellation but again it was hardly to get through. I left the message for cancellation. Then the rep called me EVERY evening even after 9 p.m. asked me to pay remaining balance of $38 which I have no idea where it came from, and he just repeated that was what I owed to them, no further info! And the cancellation is another joke, they required me to send back the original box with all the materials inside, otherwise I will be charged for the equiptment fee. Glad we found the original box and sent the whole craps back! It was a big relief to cancel iTalkBB services. IMHO AND EXPERIENCE, AVOID ITALKBB NO MATTER HOW NICE THEIR PROMISE AND AD MAY SOUND TO YOU! If you have more money to give away, give it to church or charity, they are not deserve it either. They are just a scam and once you sign up you'll see what you get with beginning of nightmares. BTW, that kind of business style should not exist in the United States.

So from our experience, getting ITalkBB will end up with a horrible nightmare. The quality was too bad, too many times you only hear your own voice but not other party. And it has horrible echo sound. They service is horrible. We had ITalkBB for two years. Even their quality and service are very bad, because we didn?t want to fall in another VOIP trap so we stayed with them for two years. The quality was too bad, too many times you only hear your own voice but not other party. And it has horrible echo sound. Finally, the contract is about to be over so we started search other VOIP service providers. We found one and they are better service and quality. So we decided to cancel ITalkBB. We called their customer service, no one answered my call. After a couple of days, we received a call from ITalkBB asking us to renew the contract. We said we didn?t want to renew, we want to cancel it. But the sales person said she can?t do the cancellation. We asked her to transfer to their cancellation department, but she refused to do so. We told her we couldn?t get their customer service department because it doesn?t connect us to their after pushing some number according to the recorded guide, but she still refused to transfer us and hang. After a week, we got a call from ITalkBB again asking for renew. We said we don?t want to renew. Then she asked us to return the equipment. Later, we got an email regarding returning the equipment. We printed out the label and sent the device back to them. However, the horrible thing happened. After two weeks we returned the equipment, we got a letter from collecting agency asking us to pay extra money. We spent ours to call ITalkBB, and finally hooked it up with some one there. They said we didn?t cancel it so you have to pay for the extra month. We said we called them and told them to terminate the service. But they keep saying they didn?t receive any cancellation.

iTalkBB--I should have known better than to expect quality from a Chinese provider. The customer support worse than sucks--they barely speak English. I just got done trying to reach my wife in Japan. First two calls--I could hear her, but she could not hear me. Third call--no connection--ever. The lines saturate every evening when China goes to work. The company is so poor that it does not add capacity to satisfy the need. Do yourself a favor--do not purchase a plan from iTalkBB....unless you like giving people money for nothing.

I have been using iTalkBB for 2 weeks and so far I just love it. I was most impressed by their customer support which has been very responsive and helpful. The voice quality is comparable to my previous land line and I never got connection dropped even during some 10-20 minutes calls. Call to China sounds just like local call. I rated the setup less than perfect only because it took me and their support staff 2 weeks to finish the voice mail setup for my particular home network environment. Highly recommended!

The company has probelm to switch phone numbers from my previous phone company to ITalkBB. ITalkBB does not keep good communiations between their service and the phone switch compnay. It has been like "she said" and "he said" for few weeks without solving the problem. The ITalkBB company keeps asking me to mail in the most recent phone bill (they never state the NEW phone bil reqirement on website) in order to switch the phone number from the previous phone service to the iTalkBB. However, they do not read the phone bill or they do care about customer's time and effort. Everytime I called in and asked why the phone number is still not switched, they have been repeating the same questions on the same phone bill (a most recent bill) for weeks and still has not swtched the phone number for me. I am soooooo disappointed and soooooo tired of keep calling them and asking the same questions and never got problem solved. During the past 1.5 month, my family has to use two different phone numbers which has been pain and very confused. In addition, we are paying both ITalkBB and phone company and hope one day the phone number can be fixed as they promissed! So, when you order ITalkBB, make sure you have enough energy and time to deal with the problems and hope your do not need to pay double phone bills due to their careless business.

This service has targeted the asian market and communications are all bilingual, with english usually 2nd.

My experience with iTalkBB is like an never ending nightmare. I am trying to get rid of the service for the last 6 month but still they make it next to impossible to cancel their lousy service. I signed up for the prepaid 12 month plan in summer of 2007, they promised that I could keep my home phone number before I signed up and told me that home security system would function well with their service. Once my credit card was charged, it was a different story-then it was not possible to keep my number. I also found that my home security system did not work either, even after I called the Brinks Security to add a VoIP adaptor. When I called to cancel the service, they told me they would have to charge me a fee for cancelling, even though initially promised "you could cancel anytime, we will refund the unused fee". In June of 2008, I made a phone call to Europe. I was under the impression it would be free because I was told by sales before I signed up that they cover most countries in Europe. Plus there was no warning before it was connected that it was for free. Two weeks later I found my phone stopped working. So I called iTalkBB. Much to my surprise, they told me that they disconnected my phone because they could not charge my credit card on file (I closed that credit card) and I owed them $45 for that call, ($1.50 a minute). I said I would send them a check to cover the charge, but they insist they don't send bills, the only accepted way for payment is through credit card transaction. Because it was so close to the end of my plan I refused to give them my credit card number so that they could not renew another year's service. They kept calling me on my cell phone for the payment, every time I told them the same thing, but they kept repeating credit card only, not only for the charge for the call but also for another 12 month fee. I kept telling them discontinue my service, but they insist that I have to call a different number to cancel. Recently I received a letter from a debe collection company for $90 balance on iTalkBB. When I called iTalkBB on 12/12/2008, I was told my balance was $300 plus, I am responsible for service from July to present, even though they disconnected my service since July 7, 10 days before the end of my last 12 month service! I asked to talk to the supervisor, he maintain the same argument. When I threatened them to complain to the Better Business Bureau, he became much nicer and told me that I am only responsible for $45 for the call, but still asked for my credit card. I adamantly refused to pay by credit card, and insisted that my account be removed immediately. The cancellation department finally agreed to send me an email with instructions and address to send my check to within 2 days, which again turned out an empty promise. I waited for over a week, no such email came. I called them again on 12/19 the customer service told me just send it to the a

iTalkBB is primarily aimed at the Chinese-speaking community, Mandarin preferable. They offer a bunch of special features aimed at telephone calls to China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Unfortunately, that's probably where the good aspects of the company stops. Call quality hovers between inconsistent and just plain crappy. My mother and I spent over two months dancing between our regular local phone company and iTalkBB to port our phone number before finally getting a person from our phone company telling us that our number couldn't be ported; thanks for guaranteeing that to us, iTalkBB. Furthermore, their customer service is a joke. My mother speaks Chinese, but doesn't understand technology and technological jargon very well, so I usually cover that aspect when dealing with customer service. Not this time: I would call iTalkBB to discuss something (again), and I would get a rep that barely spoke any English at all and didn't understand it when I used basic terms that she should understand (working in the VoIP industry and all) like: adapter, cable modem, ethernet cable, router, phone jack, etc. My mother would have to get on the phone, but since she doesn't understand technical jargon, nothing was able to get across to her either. The only thing that was good was that we had no problems canceling the service once our one-year term was up. Don't be fooled into this company.

Absolutely one of the worst company out there. Customer Service is a joke - you usually have to wait 1-2 days for them to call you back and if they leave a message on your VoIP line that doesn't work, you will have to call back and go through the exercise all over again. The Quality is inconsistent at best. The voicemail function is a SCAM. It doesn't work Buyer beware.

Stay away from ITALKBB. They blocked calls from their customers to us after we terminated their services and use another service. We have to complaint to county consumer affair office to get it resolved and get our service unblocked. They sent us collection notice for the charges we did not owe. They cut off our service before our 14 month usage was due after they failed to charge our credit card, they wanted the "free equipment" back. So they said we owe them 104 dollars and if we sent back the equipment, then we did not have to pay for the fee! How absurd!! Bad quality, bad service, fraudulent business practice.

Their sales people are really good to get you on the hook. But the voice quality and service are really BAD!!!! When you want to cancel, it's very hard to get connected to them. Many times you get confused in terms of how to get it really canceled. They ask you to send your box back on your own expense and never pay you back any amount left. When one year contract expires and if you want to discontinue, they ask you to call them on an exact date they ask you, not before and not after. Otherwise they will charge you directly from your credit card. Once they got your credit card information in their system, there's no way for you to remove it from their website! The experience with them has been HORRIBLE!!!! Is there any regulator we can go to to file a complain?

If you want to buy its service based on its ad, think again. It cost me $100 in two months service to transfer a year plan to an economic one, all different untelling fees, and then, find it charges receiving calls too. So it costs comparable to cell phones. 50% times I got no-through calls and 25% with loud noise. Many times a call goes only one way, either hearing or speaking. Very funny!

Getting my previous number ported to ItalkBB was a bit more challenging than need be, but successfully completed after several days. Initially, voice quality was extremely poor. Accompanied by poor reliability, and frequent dropped calls. Sometimes the phone would ring, but you couldn't hear the caller on the other end, though the caller could hear you. This was sometimes resolved by rebooting the router, modem, and iTalkBB box. After several calls to ITalkBB, they agreed to replace to call box with another. Since then, the system is working more reliably, with better voice quality. Customer service is average to good. You will find better response to seek a Chinese speaker, though many in the customer service department speak English. They do follow through on a good to excellent basis. Be prepared to stick to your guns and things will get done. Downsides are: 1. No voicemail 2. No call waiting 3. Voice quality sometimes poor, especially during peak bandwidth hours. Pluses: 1. Certainly free calls to China, with a free China number for family and friends. That alone makes the service unbeatable at the price. Reliability and service are slowly improving.

The tech service line is very difficult to get through. Many times, no one on the other side of the line. Difficult to cancel the service and they will keep charging your credit card without even the acknowledge from the user. This company charge custom a large setup fee and told user that it include the equipment and activation, while I try to cancel the service, they will ask you to send the ipbox back on you own expense. They do not even return the fees that user never used for the next month. Just terrible experience. I felt that I got robbed by someone!!!

(They have used US$ or CAD$ mixed for my last 8 months). (2) As they offer the 30 days FREE trial, It is NOT truth! They did charge which called "Deposit" credit $39.98 for sending VoIP adapter when I signed up 8 months ago. But, After the first 30 days, if you DO NOT CANCEL it, this "Deposit Fee" will be called as" Activation FEE" on your trial month. (It's NOT REFUNDABLE! ) So, WATCH OUT! IT'S NOT FREE at ALL. Then they lie to you. I've been trying for 8 months to cancel this service. Each time they say, no problem - it's cancelled. then my credit card gets charged. Today they tell me I can cancel anytime and pay the $70 penalty. Or I can wait till the exact day the 'service' is 1-year old to cancel. If I wait even a day over, I'll be obligated for a second year and pay another penalty. Disgusting that a scam like this is legal. BE WARNED!!!

Don't go with ITalkBB. HORRIBLE Experience. Simply the phone stopped working, I mean 100% not working. Called customer service, they know the problem already. However it will take another one week to receive a new adaptor, the Rep even doesn't know what is "UPS Overnight". I was told that they need collect all the information for the bad units first, then they will ship out the replace unit. Again, don't go with them unless you have a second line for backup.

My experience with iTalkBB is really bad. I used it for about two months (supposedly 1 month free trial and 1 month paid). It is very hard to get through the line with iTalkBB when I call people in China. In that case, I switched to another line provided by Verizon, then I can get through immediately. In many times, iTalkBB connection was just through in single direction, i.e., I could hear my peer, but he could not hear me, or the other way around. After the disappointed experience for two months, I cancelled my iTalkBB account recently. An extra surprise is that they charge me on that trial month also, which was promised to be a free month. So I paid the two months and that's definitely the last two months I would use with iTalkBB in my life.

I had such a HORRIBLE experience with this company it's incredible. First The setup instructions is a chaotic mess, and they did not specify that the VOIP box needs to connect to a specific end of the cable they provided, and that the other way around doesn't work. My poor mom spent 2-3 days and countless phone calls and wasted countless minutes on my cell phone to test the damn thing before she was finally able to make a chopped up phone call. Second, the service is VERY UNRELIABLE. You cannot count on it to be your main phone line. Sound quality is horrible and 75% of the times people can hardly hear me where as the other 25% of time I can't hear the other person. I'm sure one of those days somebody would end up getting killed by some criminal because he has to repeat his address 20 times to 911 before they can hear him. It's not just us. My uncle's family who told us about iTalkBB were having so much trouble not being able to make or receive calls that they hand to cancels the service as well. Third, and this is the part that pisses me off THE MOST. Basically we were fed up with the thing at the end of the month and wanted to cancel it, and they said that THEY'D HAVE TO CHARGE US 25 FOR THE TRIAL MONTH WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FREE when the sales rep called us to advertise. Supposedly if you use the phone for more than 500 min per month, you have to pay for the first month. This was NOT mentioned to us at the time of sale or in any of the emails!! It was NOT anywhere on the front page of the website as the customer rep claimed. Not to mentioned that the customer rep INSULTED and accused me of just wanting to use the service for a month and not pay! Not to mention that they won't refund the expense to mail back the equipment! After spending an hour an half on the phone complaining and telling them how they are basically cunning money out of us, I finally told them that they can charge us for the first month, and that I'd write countless reviews to warn everybody, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS SENSELESS COMPANY!!! So here I am. Please do not subject yourself to the pain I went through. This is a scam company that steals, lies and have horrible service!

This service is targeted to Chinese users. Service to non-Chinese speakers is pretty low. I gave up after waiting 20 minutes for customer service in English. Customer service replies to emails in several days. Reliability of connection is low. I usually have to dial a number several times to get through. Right now, the connection's not working at all (I have a dial tone, but my number is "temporarily not in service.")

I've been reading the comments before choose italkbb.com. We've had italkbb for more than half a year, and have had no problem. We received the linksys phone adapter within 3-4 days from order. We had some small problems connecting it, and called customer service who walked me through it (was actually much easier to connect than I thought). After updated the firmware of our wireless router, I was hooked up instantly. The phone worked right away, with the new number, and the number switch from Qwest took about 3 weeks. The good points: Price, obviously; Features, including all kinds of advanced phone features, like caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, etc. also support e911 and fax. There is no "special" type of phone you need, Just used our old 2.4mhz phone, and it works fine. Customer service was great, for me, I got through pretty quickly, and the person helped me set it up quickly with no problems. The bad: I haven't found any. I don't get bad echoes or anything. Sound quality is great and very reliable. I have been calling my family and friends oversea almost every day. I realize that this is new technology. I have had no interference with my internet usage. For the price (less $25/month including long distance to US, Canada, and 20+ countries!!!), If you have family in China you can even get a Chinese number. This is a great plan and service.
