To potential Vonage customers, The signup process was simple and online. They took my credit card and signed me up, then they sent me the modem and it all worked well for a few months, then I started to experience interruptions in my communications. The service gradually became so bad I had to reboot the vonage modem several times a day. It was impossible to get a live person on the phone to talk to so I finally decided to switch to Cox cable. After reading reviews from other dissatisfied customers I waited until my phone number was ported over to Cox before I cancelled Vonage. It took more than a week to have my telephone number ported over. There is no means for canceling online, it requires a call to a Service Representative but first one must wade through 10 or more minutes of computer generated crap in order to finally get a human on the phone. Once the person did get on the line, it was another series of the same exact questions again wasting my time. The Representative then lets me know that service will be terminated and that I will not be refunded for unused service days and that no prorate is provided in the contract. I had six months left on my contract and it cost me $129 to cancel. The result of my experience is that I will never do business with Vonage again. And I will advise others to stay away as well. Do you self a favor and stay away from this company with bad customer service and bad business acumen. The deal is not that great any longer anyway. My advice is to check the cancellation requirements for any online tech service to see the ease and fairness at which one can cancel.

Overall we have been satisfied with Vonage because of the rates. We have a lot of overseas call. I get dropped every now and then and there is often some echo. I have one problem and that is that I lose my internet connection every now and then and then, of course, I have no telephone connection. We have had AT&T technicians check it out and they both said it is because of vonage. Does anybody have that problem too? Thanks,

They do not return emails with any information...only polite "sorry for the inconvenience" pablum. My problem was sent to "Advanced Service Team" ten days ago, still no information on what is causing it or how it can be fixed.

I've had Vonage for two years now. If you read the ratings, you'll see that most of the complaints about them are from years ago....2005, 2006. They have much improved since then. About once every two months, I'll try to make a call and will get a recording that says "your vonage device is not working," but if I hang up and wait 30 seconds, it works again. This only happens a few times a year, so it's really no big deal. I thought the customer service was great. They helped me set it up on the phone (I called them on my cell while setting up home line). I can call almost any English-speaking country for free! It's all included in the $25.00 a month, which actually is $31 after taxes and fees. You can't beat that!

I used the service for personal and it was fair. However, the business solution was horrible and the service was even worse. The sales rep misrepresented the capabilities and the account managment team fought to keep the account which wasted precious time and money.

AVOID VONAGE at all costs if you value good customer service and decent basis telephone services. It seems like they expect people to get rid of them so they have built in fees to make termination of the service a profit center. I don't know how the FCC allows these fools to get away with ripping people off. This is truly one of the worst companies to deal with and I wish I had the power to put them out of business. This company simply sucks. AVOID VONAGE!

I signed up to the Vonage world calling service because I have family overseas that I want to stay in contact with. Unfortunately, the service is very poor. The call quality is bad, and for the last few weeks when I call international numbers all I get is dead air. I tried calling customer support and got no help, and I have submitted online forms and e-mails - nothing. The quality of Vonage's international service is dreadful, and their customer service is weak. I would love to just cancel, but they charge punitive fees for cancellation, which seems criminal given that they don't actually provide the service they claim to provide (international calling).

Avoid Vonage. Their customer service is horrible, and their billing practices are criminal. Don't even try to cancel, unless you want to pay $130, even if the service Vonage and your ISP combine to create is unsatisfactory. Don't be fooled by their apparently cheap rates: they'll find a way to get your money. One of the worst businesses I've dealt with. Ever.
