Avoid these guys like the plague. They're great when you're a customer but forget about trying
to discontinue the service. I cancelled my acct in July 07 and they are STILL charging me. I
was told 4 months after requesting my cancellation that they wanted their FREE adaptor back
or I could pay $99.00 to pay for the FREE adaptor. That AND then you add the $125.00 that
they had already overcharged me.
I contacted the BBB and wow... that list of complaints is huge. Other VOIP forums warn of
this company--I should have done some research.
Even if you send back the adaptor, other customers were told they didn't receive it and they
still owe them $99.00 and they'll still charge you monthly until you cough it up.
What a scam!
So after cancelling 10 months ago, they are still billing me a monthly fee. I've cancelled my
credit card that they continued to charge and now they are sending me monthly bills and
warnings of "service cancellation" for a service I haven't used since last July. What a
absolute joke they are.
Have no complaints what so ever with ITP, a very basic service with all the features, v.m.
and on line account manager. calls always connect right away. voice mail prompts and access is great.
The only problem that I encountered was that I ordered a number that should be a local call
from my workplace. It is not however, because the local phone company says that ITP has no
physical presence here and they have no agreement. I disagree saying that calling that city is
within what is supposed to be a local calling area. But, who do you fight on an issue like that?
Customer service could use some improvement, but I was able to speak to someone that
could answer my questions. For how little I use a landline, I have a primary number and a
virtual number for the family back home, at half of what a plan would be with local provider.
Okay for very basic service, but savings aren't that much over Vonage. Terrible customer
service. Website down a lot. No one answers their phones in less than a half hour or more for
customer service unless you're ordering service.
They took 5 weeks to transfer our original phone number to their service. In the meanwhile
we had a randomly assigned temporary phone number.
Call waiting was included in the original plan but not enabled till we found out it is not
working. Service was VERY unreliable. Connections were very bad!
Customer service was the WORST. They did not have 24X7 customer service and were very bad
with handling our requests and problems
Currently our account is "suspended" so we do not have a working phone line at home.
The customer service says "They are looking at the problem!"
never recommend such a bad company. Don't use ITP!
I have been trying to contact CS who is suppose to call me back now for a month.....no calls
My problem besides the echo on the line is the second line (FAX LINE) that I am paying for
only receives faxes and can not transmit faxes, they have acknowledge that it is a problem
not only with me but with other customers but are still charging me for the line that I can not
use. Today I will-place a final call and if the problem is not rectified I will
cancel all services.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND ITP
I am glad I did not read all the comments on here before I ordered. I might not have. I have nothing but good things to say about ITP. Got the adaptor in 2 days; up and running in 15 mins. (Yes, I am a computer geek, I do websites for a living and their site is cheesy)
I was not happy with the sound at first (slight echo). However, I got right through to c/s and they were friendly and helpful, but I was running late to an appointment and told them I would have to call them back the next day, just do what you can on your end. The tech offered to call me back the next day and asked me for a time. Darn if he did not call me at exactly 1pm like I requested, to ask me if the problem had been resolved and it had…. I have not had a lick of trouble since then, never even had a call dropped in the 4 months I have had it. I am impressed!
Ordering the service was very easy, c/s was very friendly and helpful. I was never on hold for
more than 5 min and most of the time c/s picked up within a minute or two. The sound and quality was great. All and all ITP is a great company with a great product. I recommend them highly.
I just cannot understand why people are shocked when they see there is an activation fee or
surcharges or taxes! Do we not all live in the same world? ALL PHONE COMPANIES HAVE THESE FEES! Read the terms of service before you buy something. Also, if you click that you agree and you have not read them, then you deserve everything. Stop bashing a company that offers great service at a great price!
I found out about ITP through a friend that had already been with them for two months. My
friend was given two months of free service for this. I am pleasantly surprised by the great service I have received. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to switch from ridiculously overpriced landline phones.
So my service with ITP was a failure from the start. I wanted to give them a try but I should have listened to the reviews. Read this before signing up even though its long, and heed my warnings and "fine print" because your gonna need it. First Couldnt sign up on their crappy website it didnt work. Called to sign up. Dont forget their customer support is barely there and not on weekends. Called on monday to sign up. Confirmed it was 9.99 and equipment was provided to me free. week later I check my card and find a ~40$ bill!!! I call them to find out about this and was told there was an activation fee, and shipping fee for the adaptor! nobody informed me of this, and when someone says provided free that usually means they give it to you without a charge unless otherwise disclosed prior to agreement.
I discussed this with several techs, and after being disconnected and rude transferred several times with long hold times on 3 consecutive attempts I finally spoke with someone who seemed reasonable (a manager). I informed him of my dilema, I was charged for something I didnt agree too. I was informed by him that they have a company wide policy of never reimbursing a customer in any circumstance, all sales are final. They only deal in credit in some instances. Are you kidding me? "He didnt agree with it, but his hands are tied" kinda guy. Seemed decent but wasnt the answer I needed. I also was informed about other hidden fees. Apparently 9.99 doesnt mean 9.99. There's a 1.99 "maintenance fee" and a 3.99 "line fee" etc etc it all added up to cost the same or more as better companies. They are apparently all described in the online terms of service (the 5 page mumbo jumbo nobody reads? yea its in the middle. by the way apparently they can add and remove fees as they please there too) I cancelled my service and I asked if the best way for a refund was to file fraudulent charges with my bank, and he actually replied yes! :-o I filed with my bank and won. Cancelled the card they charged as well.
Few weeks later I received an email saying my itp account had a new voicemail (which was too garbled to understand) I called today to find out as I told them I wanted my service cancelled before. I spoke with someone very rude and found out my account wasnt closed. She closed my acct but told me I had to return the equipment. I told her I was informed it was provided to me free, she said it was in the terms of service. now since I signed up over the phone I never agreed to a terms of service nor was I informed over the phone. I was straight told I get free equipment from signing up over the phone. I asked if I was going to be reimbursed for my time or shipping fees if I was to choose to send them the box back but was told no, and rudely informed it will cost me 99$ if I dont give it back in 30 days, where after she disconnected the call. This is where I currently stand with them. I am extremely displeased at the fraudulent and sneaky pricing practices. I wouldnt recommend them to my worst enemy, and I will be bringing my business over to Viatalk thank you very much!
I recently moved into a new neighborhood where not everyone gets a good internet connection. A couple of people told me it is because of a blackout that took place not too
long ago. Everyone told me I could not support a VoIP phone. I searched around and tried to find one that would possibly work because it is such a better value than a landline. I went with Vonage, that was a big mistake. 4 months, I was able to make about 12 phone calls. No refunds or anything given for my troubles and all of their tech support is in India. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. I started looking around again and I found that ITP is the first one I came across that has American Tech Support. Needless to say they got my phone working in 2 days. I did have a complicated setup but I was actually able to communicate with them. Bravo!!! ITP, you have a customer for life.
ITP has surprised me in a way I didnt think possible, I was referred by a friend and felt a bit skeptical because I am very traditional when it comes to ways of dealing with things like
phone service, someone telling me to "Try telephone through internet" was like hearing "Why don't you get your car insurance from Home Depot?", I thought it sounded ridiculous. Upon reading the terms of service agreement (a ritual habit of mine) I thought it was too good to be true. I ordered my unit, received it in two days, and setup in about 5 minutes... three words, Immediate Clear Service, I was SO surprised, I could ramble on about them forever, but I've been a customer for almost 6 months without a hitch, and I am glad to be saving so much over my local landline service, if you are thinking about VOIP service, I suggest ITP, I haven't had as much as a hiccup so far
I started with the Basic plan and after 3 weeks switched to the Unlimited International plan.
My wife constantly calls Guadalajara, Mexico under other plans we had a $60 long distant bill monthly. Now it $24.99. I only used customer twice, once by email and once by telephone and each resulted a positive manner. The customer service rep's were very good on each occasion. Note I have had some dropped call but if you ever had any experience with calling Mexico this is somewhat normal.
I've had the service for a while now. I received the adapter and was able to install it right away
and start using the phone to call the UK. When I had a question, the cs rep was more than happy to answer it. They seem to be a great company to me!
