I don't know what all the complaints are about. If you want Ma Bell customer service, then pay Ma Bell prices. The chat feature has answered the few questions I have had. The sound quality is as good as Century Link (which I gave up when I got the MJ). I was able to port over the same number I have had for years. I was impressed when I took my MJ to Germany, plugged it into my laptop in my hotel and called the states like I was calling a neighbor with no loss in quality AND I received calls from the states without the caller knowing I was overseas. For the cost (I bought the 5 year plan on a $69.00 special offer) it has met all expectation and in fact has done all that it claims it can do. I do not work for Magicjack, I am just an average working guy trying to save money and this little gizmo does just that very well.

Magicjack is great until you have a problem. When you contact their support team (chat is the only way to do it) you will get a person that basically sends you pre-written answers, not paying attention to your existing problem (in my case: MJ not working). It was very evident and I believe that they do not understand "expert team member" (this took more then one hour) you will get the same kind of thing again. When all is done and your MJ is still not working they will put the blame on Apple (your computer) telling you to go see them to fix the problem. After 2 hours and 34 minutes I had enough and did my own trouble shooting. I fixed the problem for now. If you ask for a refund they will tell you that there is no refund after 30 days, in my case, I bough for 5 years so I am out of luck. Their fix all problem solver is to send you the setup and firmware link which does not always work! This was my experience with Magicjack.

I had used MagicJack for many years as my home phone line. It is low priced compared to other companies but when something goes wrong there is practically no customer support. You will spend hours on chat and if you call there's a long wait to speak with someone and everyone you speak to gives you a different story and nothing ever seems to get resolved. If they send you a broken device be prepared to pay the cost to ship it back. It is difficult to activate the device and it doesn't seem to be compatible with an iMac. Voice quality has gotten a little better over the years but still will sometimes cause a robotic voice and there are a lot of dropped calls. If cost is an issue then it might be worth a try, but if you want customer service then look elsewhere.

Absolutely horrible customer service! First, tried the live chat - after a long wait, the chatter says I have to call. So I call and wait in a queue for nearly an hour, after which the agent tells me he has to transfer me to another department. So another long wait in a queue (probably a little less than an hour), only to be told that their records show I disputed a charge from over 4 years ago, even though I've had my service working until just now (December 2017). I offered to continue my service by paying the annual fee, but they say they won't do that. The agent claimed they sent me an email about this 4 years ago, but of course there is no email (I save them). DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!

I have a MJ 10 .It can be very difficult at times to hear the other person speaking. This happens on 50% of all phone calls. I guess you get what you pay for.

Don't buy this phone. They are making money from us. There will always be admin charges. For renewal they will charge for renewal and then Canadian too with admin charges for each. When you see your bank statement it will be a lot more money after conversion. Also they blocked local access numbers to call long distance calls. I will never ever recommend Magicjack.

People cannot understand when we speak. There was noise on the phone line, we thought it was the phone so bought a new one but we still have the same problem. Chatted with Magicjack on live chat and no resolution so far.

MagicJack has been a feature in our house for the better part of a decade, now, and it works pretty well, and EXTREMELY inexpensively. I have our MagicJack Plus dongle wired directly into our home phone network, and it operates several phones in our house simultaneously, just as our old $45/month telephone company did. The customer service is a bit spotty, if you should have an issue. They have a "live chat" option on their website that will help you if you can sit through half an hour of "please try unplugging the unit and re-plugging it in" fixes first. I had one problem with the dongle going bad, and they quickly shipped out another one (I had to pay for a new one because it was out of warranty, but it shipped quickly). I would certainly recommend this service to anyone looking to ditch the high cost of home phone.

I simply dont get or agree with the bad reviews on Magicjack...I love Magicjack! Heres why: I went from living in the middle of nowhere and moved to civilization where I could actually get high speed Internet and Magicjack for home phone service. That means I went from paying $90 a month for AT&Stank landline phone to $3 a month with Magicjack...AT & Stank as I call em.. sucks! They raped me financially for years and I would never do business with them again! Now I had to get high speed Internet to facilitate that but once I did I appreciated the financial benefits plus more features like call waiting, call forwarding, voice mail and calls to Canada...Eh? AT&T was too CHEAP to offer that! So I kicked them to the curb and went with JACK! With any VOIP you have to realize there may be glitches from time to time...but they are minimal. Do the numbers, I'd rather pay $3 a month for better service (The Jack) than $90 a month for inferior service (AT&T)! So, don't curse the Jack until you've tried 'em. I've been with them for almost 4 years and love them! Magicjack rocks!

The stupidest item on the market, calls were bad and sounded like they were in a tube and would always have echo. Called them every day, they always said it was fixed but took it back and got my money back.
