Terrible company, went to re-new it after not using for 5 years - all of them overseas - no English and didn't work. Tried getting a refund the same day they said it has to be escalated and that I would get an email in 3-5 days. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE COMPANY!

Ridiculous Service

I got this Magicjack service for my mom. An authorized form allowing me to contact Magicjack regarding questions and changes was signed, dated and faxed over. The service has been very static for the longest time so I purchased a new one and was able to activate myself even though I stayed holding eventually waiting for a call back. I explained that I had activated the line back with success, she asked to speak with the account holder which is myself but the line is in my mom's name. I reminded her that I have authorization that was faxed to her office yet she still kept asking to speak with the account holder. I'm not sure at this point if i will stay with them or simply cancel.

Shut-off my PC

Can't rate anything because I can't get it to work on my Windows 11 elite book HP computer. Customer service is non-existent. There's no help online. Nothing can help. It's just a difficult system. Wish I'd never bought it.

Your international prepaid minutes expire!

I am very disappointed that I had purchased international prepaid minutes, I only used a few cents out of it to make a phone call. When I wanted to use it a while later, I found that my international prepaid credit was zero. I called customer service and was told that the minutes expire and that it was written in their instructions, and that was it! I don't agree with my credit expiring. I have had AT&T calling cards in my wallet for a long time and the credit never expired. I feel that MagicJack just flat out took my money and left me hanging when I was counting on my previously purchased minutes to make a call. That is bad business and after umpteen years with them I am looking for other options!

Quality needs to be improved

Despite having high-speed internet service with 400 Mbps upload and download, magicJack quality is poor, there are often unexplained beeps, the person on the other end can't hear us, but we can hear them. The only thing magicJack has going for it is that it is less than $50 per year. At this point, I am not sure it is even worth that. About 25% of the time, we get so disappointed with the call that we hang up and use our cell phones.

FRAUD

I ordered a device, got returned, I ordered again, got returned. When I called two times to search for it, the system asked for phone number and an account ID, I entered both. It said the account ID did not match the phone number on the account. Been dealing with this for a month and a half, plus every time I logged in, the password didn't work. I have reset this every time I log in. I think they're getting too big to handle even the small accounts.

Good, but a lot of spam

I've had magic jack for well over a decade, and the service is pretty decent but the spam calls are a problem. It's a real hassle to deal with Spam calls. You have to go on their website to actually put the number in and go through this and that just to block a call. You don't have any way of just clicking a button and having that call listed as spam like you do on your cell phone. I use a regular cordless phone for magicJack and to be honest, I don't think it's worth it anymore. Customer service is not good anymore.

Over charges

Magicjack keeps charging even after the service was deactivated and they don't reimburse or respond to emails/requests. There are better VoIP options these days. Don't work with them.
