Terrible service, Internet constantly drops, and speeds well below advertised. Customer service is rude and clueless. Total waste of time talking to them. Going to cancel and dispute charges on my credit card.

Don't even try it. BEWARE the worst all around Internet service. Customer service is so bad they have kids maybe 18 years old in the Philippines answering your call. Try someone else, you will not be happy with this. Stay far far away!

Single worst consumer product I have ever paid for. Worst excuse ever for customer service. Absolutely absurd concept of product and service.

I had to cancel my service and am being charged a penalty, this despite HughesNet wholly misrepresenting the service, its use to me and its eventual actual cost. I explained to the agent when first exploring whether or not to sign: 1. I work from home and am on Internet most of every day. 2. I have a Netgear Orbi system which uses 2 routers. 3. I stream music up to my stereo on another floor using an Apple Airport Express. 4. I have a 4K TV and stream in high resolution. My question to him, therefore, was, would the 20GB plan be sufficient? Here is what he told me: 1. 20GB will be sufficient for my needs. The Internet will be fine and with 25 Mbps, it is far faster than a DSL service. Not true. 20GB lasts 4-5 days only and then HughesNet slows the speed to the point where it takes up to 30 seconds to load a simple web page. This might be called a denial of service. I would have to more than triple my expense to get coverage for the month. 2. Orbi will be fine. Not true. Their tech support is saying they think the Orbi is eating data and is not compatible with the system. I should use the WiFi on the HughesNet router. 3. If I cannot use the Orbi, I cannot stream music. I work in the music field and this is not an option. 4. He should have told me what their technical support has now told me: that high resolution streams use up 3GB per hour and I will not be able to use high resolution on my TV bought for this purpose. There are one of 2 possible explanations: 1. The sales person misrepresented the service and was wrong about all the key data. 2. The company itself is involved in a bait and switch and has its sales persons say whatever they have to to make the sale. I have now called on 9 occasions, spent nearly 5 hours on the phone, been promised 3 calls back that never came. Yet, to my surprise, one of their agents told me my story was not believed. Avoid!

Internet company called today to tell me they needed to reschedule me for hook up. So I told the guy not to reschedule until I talked to the company (HughesNet). Called customer service told them to cancel my install. I said we're not even hooked up yet and I'm already getting bad service. Your guy calls 2 hours before he's to be here and tells me he can't do it today. What's it going to be like after I spent my money and have problems with your Internet service. He asked what they could do to make it right, I said cancel the contract, not going to risk going with a company that provides this type of service right out of the gate.

At the time of the agreement to get the service I was lied to in so many ways. The sales person LIED AND THEN LIED AGAIN. They stated that if I set up a Hughesnet account that billing by credit card would one time and that I could change over to mail in payments because I am on social security and only receive one check a month and is not always the same date. They would send me a paper bill and that I would have 10 days to pay which is what I wanted and there would be no automatic payments from my account and there would be NO EXTRA FEES TO PAY BY MAIL AND IT WOULD BE SET UP FOR THE 29TH OF THE MONTH. First month there was a payment taken on the 19th and upon calling customer service they informed me that there would be a $5.00 fee for payment by check. I was very specific there would be NO EXTRA FEES JUST THE SERVICE AND TAX and was told that it would happen. LIES, LIES, LIES! Their sales people will tell you anything to make the sale.

We started with Gen4, and we were advised that it would be no problem for streaming one program. Updated to Gen5, added 2GB, still same problem. Felt like I was misled in order to sign up for their services. I would not recommend them.

They suck. Lies, lies and more lies. I REFUSE to pay another dime, I will NOT pay another payment to these lousy SOB's. I have service that is WORSE than 1990 when I was on a modem. Go ahead and report me to the credit bureau. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB and my Congressman about your lies and fraudulent claims about high speed service. Hey, once again, you won't get another dime from me, come get this crap out of my yard and house. Or wait a few days and you can find it next to the county road waiting to go to the land fill!

A little background: We had HughesNet for many years when it first came out. It pretty much sucked but we had no other choice. We then switched to DishNet and it sucked too, but it was cheaper when bundled with TV. Through the years I kept checking the satellite providers to see about updates, better service etc. The HughesNet phone service caught my attention because we are currently using a satellite phone and it is horrible and expensive. So we took the plunge and had Gen 5 installed last Saturday. I'm pretty happy so far. We did not get the HughesNet phone service but don't need it because we use the wi-fi calling feature on our IPhone and for the first time in many years we can make and receive calls without a horrible lag, dropped call or static. The Internet is much faster (as satellite Internet goes). Time will tell if they deliver consistently. This is the best we've had for the past 10 years.

I honestly don't know how many times I have called Hughesnet about terrible slow service. It's not only slow but the data goes by in a blink of an eye. Every month I have to limit myself on Internet usage and every month the data magically gets used up faster each month. Not only is the service the absolute worst Internet service I have ever experienced, but the customer service is AWFUL! Usually the customer service representative is hard to understand and has never provided me with a solution to my problem. Also, today I called in twice to find out why I ran out of data so quickly AGAIN and how much it would cost me to cancel service with this company. Instead of getting answers to my questions, I was hung up on TWICE. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THEM AS POSSIBLE! I would rather have no Internet and go to the local library then pay for Internet I can't even use. I wish I would have read up on this company a little more before I signed with them.
