We've used VoicePulse for two years. For the first year it was fine, with occasional
interruptions in service. For the past year, it has been absolutely horrible. Phone service
is unavailable more often than it is available. Calls are dropped, there are odd sounds
during calls, and there are frequently complete interruptions in service (for hours or days
at a time). You must call each time and the customer "service" employees (who couldn't care
less about your interruption in service) usually tell you your service is working. When I
make them test it by calling me, then finally admit that it is not working. Often I can
make outgoing calls, but can't receive calls (so I don't know that people can't reach me).
Callers will get a message saying my line isn't in service (when it IS...or should be,
considering I am paying for phone service). Or, the opposite will happen and I can't make a
call at all. There is almost always a delay in connecting, and often we will hear no "ring"
on the receiving phone. The person we've called will just answer after a long silence,
which is disconcerting. I think this company has taken a turn for the worse and would
STRONGLY discourage someone from considering them!!
Sometimes there is a noticeable delay between off-hook and dial-tone.
If you try to dial too early the call will NOT go thru.
Also, had some (routing?) problems several days in a row,
but all were solved within an hour or so.
I also had Vonage, and was less happy. SunRocket was great while it lasted :)
I have tried using VoicePulse for a year. Not sure how many actual days of use I got out of it
but not many. Thank goodness for Vonage or I would not have had any service. When it did
work the service was extremely poor and customer service, if you could call it that, is
terrible. I am not sure the reps know what a phone is. If you dare to attempt to use
VoicePulse, I would suggest getting your own equipment because if you use theirs and have
a problem getting a replacement is an experience you won't soon forget. I finally got smart
and dumped it and will keep Vonage. Check out Vonage, it actually works.
I've used VP over 2 years. I do have occasional outages, usually resolved within a few hours.
I probably average 4 outages a year. It's frustrating, but I've done a lot of research, and can't
really find another service that's better. Call quality is good, but I have a few people that
always complain that they can't hear me half the time.
When I do have an issue, the tech support guys ALWAYS follow up with me. And like I've
said, I don't think there's another service available that's better for the money. My monthly bill
is $15.89.
I have been with VP for about two years. The voice quality and features are great. The
service has been pretty reliable. I only got outage once for a couple of hours.
I use the phone for conference calls a lot. Occasionally the line would drop after it has
been open for more than a few hours. Last week for a few days, the line would routinely
drop almost immediately after I dialed into conferences (provider was AT&T). I called the
service rep (a bit slow to reach one ;and it is not a toll-free number. They are based in
the states and are pretty knowledgeable though) a couple of times. They were able to fix it
a couple of days after my first call.
Fax dos NOT work.
My plan costs $15.89 (including taxes and fees). For the feature and value, this is the
best VOIP deal I can find for my needs -- unlimited in state calling; some minutes for
domestic long distance, voice mail, caller id, and local number.
Just a reminder, VOIP phone depends on other services like electric utility, internet
service provider. It should never be used as a life line.
I had VP for over 2 years and at least one out of 5 calls had the sound volume grow louder
then softer then louder again. Some calls I could here the other person talking but they could
not hear me. Some times I had no dial tone. Some times I had a dial tone but no call would
go through. I experimented with my WRT54GL router QoS settings and port range forwarding
to no avail. VP tech support blamed my router so I hooked up a different router, same
problems. I completely bypassed the router and plugged the ethernet cable directly into the
adapter from my cable modem, same problem no dial tone. Hmmm, gee, it must be the
adapter. VP tech support never offered to send me a new adapter, if they did, they could have
kept me as a customer. If you use this service make sure you buy a Linksys PAP2T-NA
adapter (unlocked) and do not accept the junk SPA-2000 (locked) adapter that they want to
send you. Buying your own unlocked adapter will give you more control over your own
settings and you will avoid them charging you $40 until you send them their adapter back to
them when you cancel their service.
This is just an update... After more than 9 months, I had no single problem with this provider.
And again, I can not say much about costumer service; I never had to call them for anything!!!
After having Earthlink trueVoice for 17 months and always having sound problems we had an
electrical storm and the service failed. To obtain a new VOIP box it took 2 weeks to arrive and
still they could not connect us to a dial tone after as much as 3 hours talking to the Help
desk. We gave them up and switched to Lingo which ended up being worse as the Help desk was
in New Delhi, India and the reps there kept saying an Advanced rep would call. I explained
about the time difference but one Advanced rep did call, in the night. I spent almost 4 hours
with the lower status reps to get the program working. All to no avail.
So with this web site info, I switched then to VoicePulse. The VOIP unit arrived in 3 days, I
hooked up to the router and as instructed waited 2 minutes and I had a dial tone and all has
worked fine since then. Also their Help service desk is in the USA.
So far they are the best service I have ever had.
Easy set up - worked out of the box. Great features and low price.
I am still waiting for a number that will be a local call from my neighbors. Why is there a
problem getting this done?
GREAT Product! No issues! Works very well with my RR lite. My father has tried two different
services and has yet to find one he is happy with. The only reason he has not tried Voicepulse
is the lack of call block (selecting calls to block).
Their sales staff will deny any missing voicemail, of course. But their tech staff knows
all about it and readily acknowledges it in both e-mail and voice conversations. It is a systemic problem that's existed for close to a year (at least). They have no solution. My guess as to the cause, is their now antiquated software. In over two years with VP they've not made a single feature upgrade or UI mod. That suggests the original developers are no longer active on the project, and are not available to support engineering changes. VP has one great feature: filters. That's all I use them for, to route calls.
VoicePulse is my first voip and hopefully my only voip. So far the service has been great. The
few issues that I've encounter was taken care of. Customer service has been really good. You can get someone with every call to them. Quality of the calls has been really good. A lot of great features. Contact manager is one of the best features that I've seen. It really works well if you have a voice caller-id phone. You can have the name pronounced the right way. First name Last name. Or whatever you like. MOM'S Calling! The really big thing is price. $25 vs $75 and not the features this offer. No brainer! Good Luck with your shopping, but VoicePulse is really good.
Left AT&T CallVantage because of limited number of filters available to block telemarketers. Was
paying CV $32 per month for unlimited local and LD plan plus all the taxes and fees. With VoicePulse, I was able to use the $14.99 unlimited local plan with only 90 cents Federal tax added, because my entire state is a local call and the 200 minutes per month of LD that comes with the plan is adequate for me. So I cut my phone bill in half and got many more features, including an unlimited supply of filters to block each and every telemarketer that calls. Both services provide excellent call quality, but on price and features, VoicePulse can't be beat
Online sign-up is very time-consuming -- thorough but brain-dead. When I didn't get a confirmation e-mail, I contacted customer support and was told that they had sent me such an e-mail but my mail server had sent it
to a spam folder. (My mail server does not do that, ever!) Then CS told me they could not resend the confirmation e-mail, that I should wait until I receive the ATA in order receive notification as to when I might receive the ATA. (Yes, that's what they told me. I've saved the e-mail.) The Linksys ATA arrived in six days but was DOA. The LEDs blinked a diagnostic code that Linksys ultimately told me meant "corrupt firmware" but VoicePulse CS continually claimed the fault was with me, maybe because of how I plugged things in or maybe because of how I turned things on or maybe because of my ISP but certainly the ATA was shipped in fine condition and they staunchly refused to find out what the diagnostic code means. Thank heaven Linksys had the guts to tell the truth.
