Review 74 : Ok, but trial costs $46 Posted: MAR 22nd, 2013

Reviewers Comments:

Website is vague about a trial. They say first and last month free, but this is deceptive. If you cancel watch out - it cost me $45.90 non-refundable after I renegotiated phone service with my internet provider. There are other companies who have a trial for real. BTW - customer service sounds so muffled when you call. Was going to recommend but am left with a bad taste over the non-refund.

Reviewers Comments:

the VOIP router is so bad that it slow down the downstream of my cable modem from 25 mps to 5-6 mps, the sound quality had been up and down, I have to reboot the VOIP router all the time just to make sure that I can hear what is on the other end. it is no longer cheap anymore since I can do better with Ooma for half of what I am paying now. they also want me to pay for the shipping of the VOIP router back to them since I cancelled the account with them. this is not what I expected, the lease they can do is to email me the return shipping label so I can drop it off at UPS for them.

Ordered this service based on other customer revies. I have never been more disappointed in this product. Bought this for the sole purpose of porting my current home number. After 30 days, no port. I called, they never received my request but took my money for set-up. I gave them 30 more days, still no port and no response from them (but paid for another month service I never used. I called to cancel, and the same day they charged me $99.99 without notification. I called to asked why and they told me they could do this if they "believed" I would not return the equipment. THEY CHARGED ME THE SAME DAY I CANCELED. Stay Away!

I received my ITPvoip adapter the same day Hurricane Sandy hit NY (which is where this carrier is based)! Unfortunately, it took me another 6 days before my service became active in Michigan, but since then, I have had no complaints. Beware, I did not read the fine print and there was a $49 activation fee..so the first two free months are eaten up by this fee - just as an FYI. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this service to my friends. I like being notified of voicemail via email and having the message attached to the email makes it very easy for me to stay current with it.

I was not told about the shipping and handling fee so they issued me a credit right away when I complained. I had a hard time setting up and the IT guy was rude but overall I like the price, the sound quality is fine. So far we haven't had any issues, we don't use our landline that much anyway. I think it's great after being gorged by AT&T for years for phone service.

Had numerous problems with them. I originally switched to ITP from Cox telephone trying to save a buck. What a mistake. Had issues with the people on the other end not hearing me or vice versa, those automated machines would not recognize any numbers I typed in, etc. Quality was 'OK' at best. I canceled service and went back to Cox. They charged me $100 for the router after I canceled, saying I should have returned it, but they never said or sent me anything about this. Very annoyed.

The actual charge for the 500-minute $9.95 service is really $15.07. there is a "line charge" of approximately $2.00 per month. I understand that you must pay taxes on the service, but the other fees are not described. As a minimum, the service should be described as costing $11.95+ per month. Also, the "shipping and setup Fees" total over $40.00!! Stay away.

ITP is a cult. Their serice is good, and their tech support is outstanding. But just try to leave. They won't let you without a phone call. Now, joining them is easy enough, and they are quite happy to take your money over the internet, But the only way they'll lte you quit is by calling them. We quit using their service over two months ago. We've instructed our bank to not pay them. Yet they keep billing us every month. Further we sent then a letter asking that they cease and desist. They don't publish their us mail address -- you have to do a whois to get it. We sent them a certifed letter telling them of the termination. No response, and they keep insisting that we must call them on the phone. We work nights, We are asleep during their office hours, so there is no way they are ever going to hear from us. ITP is likw a cult. Once you're in, they never let you go.

It started fine. But as time goes on, the quality become worse and worse. Now 1-2 months later, I can't make calls because the voice quality is soooo bad. Unbelievable. Their tech support told me that it was either the cable to the modem was bad, or I was losing packets thru the cable modem or Comcast. Called Comcast, they told me that their signal was good. So whatever it was, the whole thing was just not working. Another thing, they started charging before I got my phone # ported over, and the porting took a month.

BAD Experience with ITP. I tried ITP because their website says their adapter will power all the phone jacks in your home. This did not work for me per their directions. When I called to cancel they said I still had to pay the shipping ($16.95) and the Activation Fee ($29.95) and pay to ship the adapter back ($12.00). So, if you want to try VOIP, be aware that ITP will charge you $60.00 even if you return it after 5 days. Next time, I'm using VONAGE - free setup, free activation, and it costs less overall for the first year than ITP.

I have used packet8, Broadvoice and Vonage most of them either have support that is in some other country that has not a clue what you are talking about. ITP has the best of everything except one thing and one thing only and that is the telephone customer support is not 24 hours I am frequestly in the Philippines and trying to get customer support means I have to get up at 3 or 4 am to call. When I do get them on the phone they speak English and never fail to handle any problems that i may have they are really the best all around .

Reviewers Comments:

I've had ITP VoIP for years (since 2006). At first I was skeptical seeing as how they were U.S. based and such a bargain. I have rarely ever been let down. Their customer service is top notch. The only complaint I have is that some 800,877,866 and other specialty numbers like 310 don't work. Example: Canadian companies that don't sell to the US don't pay extra to receive calls to the 800 numbers from anywhere outside Canada (makes sense). So when I call one of these numbers I'll get a message saying that "this number does not accept calls from your area." When this happens I'll usually go to the website of the company and scratch around looking for any local (or at least Canadian) number that I can use. I usually end up in the wrong department but I play stupid and ask for another local number. I usually get in touch with who I need to talk to.

ITP is the invisible voip provider....and that's a good thing! The service and sound quality are so good, I've only had contact with customer service once in 4 years. And that minor problem was fixed almost immediately. Pretty rare in this day and time! And more than I can say about my former landline provider. As seamless and transparent as a service provider should be....I highly recommend ITP.

First, was put off by their billing practice. When ordering their service on-line, there is nothing that talks about a $29.00 non-refundable setup fee (even though they say there is a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee. The other thing they don't mention up-front, is how much taxes will be charged or nor do they mention the additional $1.99 line fee they charge. It is only mentioned in their Terms of Service. I only found out about these fees after I say a $46.00 charge on my credit card and started to investigate. They never even sent an email explaining the charges. I was willing to overlook the charges since $9.99/month still seemed like a good deal. However, I did a side-by-side test with my current provider (phonepower) and its audio quality just wasn?t quite as good. It was acceptable: The other person was clear and very understandable, but not as natural sounding. I decided to pay the slightly higher premiums and stay with my current provider.

I can't say enough about the cost/performance of ITP's VoIP capability (and no, I am not a stockholder nor are any relatives employed by ITP). Setup was easy! The voice quality is excellent (especially when compared to my previous Verizon land-line). Porting of my land-line phone number was flawless (~ 3 hrs in purgatory). Absolutely no billing surprises. Tech support has been very professional (problem tickets logged and addressed promptly). I have noticed some folks complaining about billing related items that in fact are clearly defined in ITP's Terms & Conditions; nothing in the T&Cs are unreasonable. They are excellent! We've had their service over 5 years and have had great service, reliablilty, and dependibility. The couple times I called to talk to customer service, they have been friendly, helpful, and took care of the issue immediately. I like the phone features they offer, especially the music hold and the call blocking. Their rates can't be beat, and for the features and call quality ~ you'd be paying so much more with any other company! They're the greatest and I recommend them highly!

This is a good service for a good rate. However, be wary when you cancel. I recently had no more use for the service as I went to all cellular. They will not cancel in advance so you have to call a day or so prior to being billed again which was a pain. Then when I did that they immediately charged me $99.99 to my card for non-return of eequipment which they said I had 15 days to do. I called them and they said it was an error but would not refund the money until I sent in the equipment. Their customer service response was "Oh well". So be warned!

After the disaster w/ Vonics, I was afraid to try VoIP again but ITP has provided an excellent and RELIABLE service for over three years. There are hidden (feds and FCC) fees but so do everyone else. The only time I needed to work out a problem (was on my side though) their support was available and professional. Problem solved and no issues since then. Highly recommended if they keep working like this

I was very reluctant to try VOIP, but all of the great reviews for ITP ecouraged me to try it. I am happy I did because the sound quality is exactly the same as my local telephone provider at an outstanding price. I was delivered a Brand New Linksys VOIP modem that was very easy to install and I had a dialtone on the first try. I am very happy.

I have been extremely happy with ITP ever since I ordered the service. The price is 50% more than I expected a month but when the base package is only $10 an extra $5 for "e911" and "line use" is not a huge deal. I have been very happy with the call quality and features provided on the line. I have used mine for faxing with no problem or special setup required. I recommend ITP to anyone looking for a VoIP provider!

I am so happy with my service. I could not believe how easy it was to install. A little router arrived in the mail, and all you need to do is plug it in. Done. And, it worked right out of the box with a temporary number until my home number was ported over. The number was ported over in less than a week. The features are AWESOME! I love the black list, which is a list of numbers you can block. When you get a voicemail, it emails that to you as an audio file, which is really cool. It shows every call in and out, instantly, on your account page on the website. It even has advanced stuff like enabling certain features at certain times. The voice quality is as good as a "regular" phone, no problems there. And, all this for $9.99 a month. I know I sound like a shill, but I am just a very happy customer who is now paying $10 a month instead of the $35 I was paying, and I didn't have any of these cool features before. If I could change one thing, I might change the web interface to your account as it's a little odd-looking. However, everything works and works well, so once you get used to the look and feel of the interface, it's OK.

I researched VoIP phone service for a few years before making the move. My first Internet phone line was OK but the caller ID only revealed the caller's number. It was $6 per month more than ITP. After switching to ITP I simply LOVE THIS PHONE SERVICE! I really like the way all calls are treated as local. No more dialing "1" No more long distance bills! I strongly recommend ITP

Reviewers Comments:

I did an internet search for a VoIP service and after reading reviews I chose ITP as my service provider. Time Warner was getting so expensive with constant rate hikes and outages causing the phone to be dead. It was time to try something else. I was looking at Vonage and Magic Jack but noticed way to many neg. responses. What impressed me most was the customer service, about three rings at the most and there would be someone on the other end SPEAKING ENGLISH and very knowledgeable about this service. I talked with them many times about questions I had. Each time I hung up feeling as though my questions had been answered. While waiting for my TW number to port I used the forward and did not miss one call. The clarity is excellent, no humming or crackling or dropped calls. I am so impressed with this service that I have listed it on my FB page as well as told my family and friends to check it out. Also sent referals to all on my e-mail list. I would highly recommend this service if looking to save some money on a landline and to let TW know that they are not the only ones in the area to connect your landline. I give this product, service and customer service 10 stars! Most of all that is impressive, it's in the USA!

I switched to ITP after falling for the "triple play scam." After one year with optimum my payments skyrocketed. At ITP not only do they have much better prices, but they also ported my number over. They have great service and setup was so easy. I highly recommend ITP.

I needed a phone company that would let me call internationally without costing more than my mortgage. Landlines cost way too much, as did most VOIP providers I was looking at. However, I happened across ITP's website and their prices were just right. And I am able to call much more countries on my plan than some other companies have. And the service is great.

First VOIP service. Switch over from ATT (paying over $80 a month), now only paying between $26-$32. Sound quality is good, some times gets a little static for a few seconds. Have not got any service problems at all. Instant dial tone, and tone when phone is left on. Features are great, my favorites are the blacklist (stops annoying callers with a message saying "the number you are calling is no longer in service"), Follow Me (can set up 3 lines with different number of rings, I have it set up for 4 rings at home, 3 rings to a mobile phone, and 3 rings to another mobile phone so we never miss a call) and forward on no internet (in case power or internet goes down, you can still receive incoming call through a other number). In order to use these features you need to log on to ITP website, and enter the numbers you want to be used for all features. Setup was not free. its $29.95 for activation fees and $14.95 for shipping and handling. but i was also charged for the first month service of $19.99, which should be free according to ITP. Contacted ITP via email and it was refunded back 2 days after sending a email to ITP. Other thing is you will see to charges on every bill is $1.99 for ITP Line Fee, and $1.99 for E911 Recovery Fee. and of course FCC Universal Service Fee. Phone number porting took 5 weeks, it actualy would of taken 3 weeks, but I made a mistake in the LOA form. (ITP saids it can take up to 60 days to complete transfer) Customer service is only available on weekdays betweens certain hours. Emails are replied to in about a day. Have to pay extra for fax $9.99. But other then that the service is great and will not switch back to regular landlines any time soon.

I decided to use ITP after reading the reviews here on this site. I have no regrets it. ITP has cut down my phone bill to a fraction of what I was paying the local phone company! PLUS I'm getting all the extras like caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, call blocking, Voicemail and a whole lot more without paying extra for them! I didn't have any of that with my very basic plan with my local phone company and was paying 4 times as much. ITP has been great! Now I'm going to use it for my business as well.

Came from 5 years with Vonage's Basic 500 minute plan which started at $14.99. Found Vonage great service until I bought a Vista OS computer and had NO Vonage service for 3 MONTHS when Customer Service figured out that I needed an upgraded ATA!. Primary reason for switch to ITP was value. What started out as $14.99 became $17.99 plus surchares/taxes -- a monthly bill of $28.00 PLUS for 500 minutes! ITP can't be beat for price, service & support. My bill is HALF of my Vonage bill for the same 500 minutes. And the "Black List" is GREAT for blocking telemarketers. The only slow process is porting my phone number IN to ITP - but that was the feet dragging of Vonage. (Porting took 3 weeks to the day.) Tip: Change your Network/Power Down phone number to your temporary ITP number, then uplug & packup Vonage equipment ready to ship back. YOU will receive ALL your Vonage phone calls on ITP while the Porting Process is in progress. ITP amazes - and at a fantastic price!

I had Vonage for over one year, and was very happy with them. I had the 500 min package for $14.99. Vonage raised the price to $17.99 which made me look around. Found ITP for $9.99 for 500min. No brainer. Took about 1 month to port my number from Vonage, was kept informed via email. Vonage charged me $40.00 to cancel (if cancel before 2yrs) which is worth it. ITP's website is not as user friendly as Vonage but for $9.99 a month, I dont care. Sound quality is very good and am happy to date.

My current provider gave me 25 days to find another as they went chapter 11. As they say, every cloud has a silver lining. I have been suffering with USADatanet's (Spottalk's) service for four years...bad echo, bad delay, bad tech support that blames everything on my hi-speed provider, on and on. I found this site and saw the high ratings for ITP and checked into them. I must say that I can't disagree on the high rating thus far. No contract, less expensive, no VoIP router to buy; I took a shot at it. Boy am I glad I did!!! I received the "box" and hooked it up. I had dial tone before I could get out from under my desk after plugging it in. Calls are clear, no echo, no delay. The web interface is easy to use. The only poor thing I can mention are the banker's hours that their customer service/tech support have (M-F 9a-6p). They claim that they have 24/7 e-mail support, but when I have a problem, I don't want to trade e-mails, I want a live body on the other end of a phone...now. I've only had the service a week, but so far I am very impressed overall. For my fellow USADatanet users/sufferers about to lose phone service....grab this one!!

I use VoIP for international calls, predominantly to Mexico, so my choice was limited to those who had Mexico included in their standard plans. At first, I tried Lingo when Mexico was included in their plan. I had numerous problems. When I called customer service, I was told that it would be three to four days for service since it was a long weekend where their service center was located (I believe that it was Canada at that time). I switched to ITP and have had no problems. The service is reliable. The quality is comparable to my standard phone service. The only problem that I have encountered is with obtaining a virtual number in Monterrey, Mexico (where many of my customers are located). They said that there were no numbers available at this time. Overall, it has cut my telephone bills from approximately $300/month down to $30/month with no impact on reliability or quality.

I am not a computer geek, but just wanted to get rid of the large phone charges I was getting from our only provider, Verizon. So I looked into VOIP and found this company to be the cheapest and worked in my area. I had absolutely no problem hooking up my phone to the free box and my phone worked right away. No problems at all, and I even get email with the voicemail attached to it when someone leaves a message at home! Also of course the caller ID works at well. I just cannot believe I am paying $9.99 for this kind of service when I was paying 40 bucks a month for the same with Verizon home!!!

I am glad I did not read all the comments on here before I ordered. I might not have. I have nothing but good things to say about ITP. Got the adaptor in 2 days; up and running in 15 mins. (Yes, I am a computer geek, I do websites for a living and their site is cheesy) I was not happy with the sound at first (slight echo). However, I got right through to c/s and they were friendly and helpful, but I was running late to an appointment and told them I would have to call them back the next day, just do what you can on your end. The tech offered to call me back the next day and asked me for a time. Darn if he did not call me at exactly 1pm like I requested, to ask me if the problem had been resolved and it had?. I have not had a lick of trouble since then, never even had a call dropped in the 4 months I have had it. I am impressed!

Everyone told me I could not support a VoIP phone. I searched around and tried to find one that would possibly work because it is such a better value than a landline. I went with Vonage, that was a big mistake. 4 months, I was able to make about 12 phone calls. No refunds or anything given for my troubles and all of their tech support is in India. UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. I started looking around again and I found that ITP is the first one I came across that has American Tech Support. Needless to say they got my phone working in 2 days. I did have a complicated setup but I was actually able to communicate with them. Bravo!!! ITP, you have a customer for life.

ITP has surprised me in a way I didnt think possible, I was referred by a friend and felt a bit skeptical because I am very traditional when it comes to ways of dealing with things like phone service, someone telling me to "Try telephone through internet" was like hearing "Why don't you get your car insurance from Home Depot?", I thought it sounded ridiculous. Upon reading the terms of service agreement (a ritual habit of mine) I thought it was too good to be true. I ordered my unit, received it in two days, and setup in about 5 minutes... three words, Immediate Clear Service, I was SO surprised, I could ramble on about them forever, but I've been a customer for almost 6 months without a hitch, and I am glad to be saving so much over my local landline service, if you are thinking about VOIP service, I suggest ITP, I haven't had as much as a hiccup so far

I started with the Basic plan and after 3 weeks switched to the Unlimited International plan. My wife constantly calls Guadalajara, Mexico under other plans we had a $60 long distant bill monthly. Now it $24.99. I only used customer twice, once by email and once by telephone and each resulted a positive manner. The customer service rep's were very good on each occasion. Note I have had some dropped call but if you ever had any experience with calling Mexico this is somewhat normal.

I've had the service for a while now. I received the adapter and was able to install it right away and start using the phone to call the UK. When I had a question, the cs rep was more than happy to answer it. They seem to be a great company to me!

I couldn't believe that I was able to get a real phone for only $9.99 a month. The 500 minutes are plenty especially since its unlimited incoming. They gave me a free 877 number that I was able to create into a vanity number so its easy to remember. I cant even tell that I am talking through the internet because it sounds just like a regular phone!

I actually was looking at other companies...ITP was one of my last (I was skeptical). Wow! Glad I went with them. Everything was excellent! The only one who could give me a virtual number in my home town. I had a problem with the virtual number when I first tried it. Within 15 minutes after calling support, and engineer called me, and within 30 minutes had it fixed. Goodbye, Verizon traditional analog phones forever!

When I first thought about getting a VoIP service the only one I knew of was Vonage, so that is where I went. I experienced nothing but headaches for 2-plus months. Everything from poor sound quality to customer service people hanging up on me. Since switching to ITP I have been extremely satisfied. Not only is it cheaper than the other services but the customer service reps are extremely friendly and helpful. The sound quality is as good as I have heard for VoIP line. I would recommend it to anyone looking for value and quality in a VoIP service.

I was sceptical of this company. They charge same as Vonage but they allow calls to many more countries with international plan. Setup was good and easy. When I have problem customer service answer it right away, very nice. People can hear me very well too, nice and clear. Much better than Vonage.
