AxVoice were originally founded in 2005 and provide internet phone service for home users and small businesses. This service requires that you have an existing high speed internet connection (e.g. DSL, cable modem etc.). AxVoice provide different plan options to meet different user needs, such as pay as you go plans, low minute usage plans, unlimited domestic and international plans.
The GoodAxvoice provide a good selection of affordable plan options so most home phone service users should find a plan to meet their needs. This includes a no monthly fee outgoing calls only plan, a low cost pay as you go plan, a limited minutes plan for USA/Canada calling, an unlimited calling plan (their flagship service and best value plan), and a couple of international calling plans (one that covers around 45 countries and one that covers over 60 countries).
The Axvoice plans boast a good selection of features (30+) included free plus some optional features at additional low monthly fees (toll free numbers and virtual numbers). Many of these are standard now with most service providers, such as caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, enhanced voicemail and E911 support. Some stand-outs include support for various Codecs (great for users who have lower Internet speeds), Simultaneous Ring, Music on Hold, Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) support, and Voicemail audio files sent to email.
Other factors considered to be good for the user are a 15 day money back guarantee, free hardware and activation, the ability to transfer your existing number (also known as number porting), low international calling rates (starting at 1.5c per minute) and a Mobile App for smartphones (iPhone and Android both supported).
The BadThe 15 day money back guarantee has some limitations that should be understood. It does not include the shipping and handling fees, it is 15 days from the activation of the account, and you must not exceed 200 minutes of usage during those 15 days. You must return ALL the equipment provided by them in the original packaging within 10 days of cancellation (includes cables, manuals etc) and you are responsible for paying the return shipping.
A $19.99 shipping and handling fee is charged when you order the service. This is higher than many other providers charge (many in the range of $10 to $15), although a small amount in the grand scheme of the savings you will enjoy.
Like most (if not all) service providers the "unlimited" plans include a reasonable usage policy, which for Axvoice is 3,000 minutes. This is to protect them against extreme users. If you exceed this limit you will be charged at a rate of 1.5c/min.
The knowledge base in their support section of their website is decent but there is no phone support. Also, customer support hours are 7am to 8pm EST. You can submit a ticket online at any time though.
If you don't like the idea of paying annually then the monthly rate is quite a bit higher if you are considering the unlimited calling plan. See below for the bottom line.
The Bottom Line
Overall ThoughtsIf you are considering an USA/Canada unlimited calling plan for your home then we would recommend taking a look at the Axvoice annual payment option. This is a very competitive option with a great feature set. Their International plans are also cost competitive with the likes of Vonage.

I've been using VoIP for over 10 years. This is the worst provider that I have ever dealt with. They have yet to return a single email. There is no voice phone support. Terrible company. Stay away.

I use the $8 a month price package from Axvoice and it helps me save quite a lot of money on my phone bill. To top that, their call quality is pretty good too and the ordering procedure is fairly simple.

I do not use the telephone that much but when I wish to use it, I want it to be working top-notch for me. The ordering procedure for Axvoice was fairly simple for me. I received the installation hardware within a couple of days. When I was home and I wanted to make calls, the call quality was pretty good and with not much usage, a monthly package of $7 a month was more than reasonable for me. A good product I should say. A definite recommendation.

No response from any contacts with them, they changed my number without notifying me, they billed me for a different plan than I signed up for and then didn't cancel my account when I requested cancellation.

I have a job in which I need to make quite a lot of phone calls on a daily basis. The unlimited calls package from Axvoice was pretty awesome for me and to add to that, they have a pretty good call quality. The installation procedure didn't take that long too. You place your order on their website and you'll receive the hardware within 3 days. We have the price package of $8.25 a month for unlimited calls all across the US and Canada. This pricing is basically peanuts compared to other VoIP service providers. If you want to save some money, I think you should definitely give it a shot.

My family says I am pretty crappy at getting the right stuff at reasonable rates. Recommended by a friend five months back, I advised my family to shift to Axvoice as it had better service reviews and far better rates than our previous service provider but no one listened to me. Two months back, we were having severe issues with our old service and their customer service was the least bit of help. My Dad decided to temporarily shift to Axvoice. To his surprise, the service provided by Axvoice was "too good to be true". The call quality was top notch and unlimited phone service was a dream come true for my Mom. To top it all, we got all this for way under 10 bucks, even less than half of what we were paying before. The best part for me was that I finally recommended something to my family that was actually good.

I used Axvoice for over a year after porting from Callcentic when they where experiencing DOS problems. I was impressed with the sound quality and features. However, customer service is lacking. I asked several times who the taxes that are collected were being paid to, without response. I also tried to get support connecting my Obihai adapter without response. Got tired of the no responses from customer service and ported my service away to VOIP.MS.

It has been one whole year today since I started using Axvoice. I am not the type of person who compromises on quality, which briefs you with how satisfied I am with their service. The voice quality is no short of excellent and their customer service is pretty helpful too. Would give this service 5 stars.

Have used this service now for a couple of years, and have had a few issues. The issues got fixed, but then same problems came back. No customer service period. You are just ignored through their email communication system so they have not been fixed. Crackle on the line or distorted calls sometimes.

I was prompted by an advertisement of inexpensive residential telephone service to become an AXvoice customer. I experienced poor customer service after I received a malfunctioning adapter. As a new customer, it took too many emails to resolve the problem. The solution was to replace the malfunctioing adapter with another adapter. The second adapter arrived and appeared used and dirty. I was later contacted by the customer service representative via email stating that the service was now working. In the end, I canceled my service within the cancelation period. The customer service at this point turned from bad to worse. I would suspect that the poor customer service comes from over extended employees. As a provider of telephone service, they do provide a telephone number for AXvoice. This corporate phone number appears to be a nonfunctioning voicemail box. Low cost may be appealing but you get what you pay for!

Overall connection is okay but since the account was setup I have continuous disconnects on outbound calls over 15 minutes. I had several email exchange with AxVoice and they "fixed" the issue a couple of times but in the past weeks the issue reoccurred. I get no support whatsoever (no email reply in the past 24hrs), there is no number I can call for support and I'm getting really frustrated, caught into a contract that I can't cancel w/o a $50 fee. My mistake, I should have seen the red flag re: no support number.
