After doing much research, I choose to sign on with Nextiva to consolidate my business phone lines and efaxing. I was so excited to switch over, as the cost was much cheaper and I read some good reviews online. However, I definitely got what I paid for. I now spend most of my days calling them to troubleshoot my phone lines or because efaxing is not working. I have only been with them a little over a month and I am over this company. The efaxing- which is extremely important in my line of business, is down for over a week now. And every day I am given another ETA. They initially told me that the problems would be fixed within hours... we are now on day 8!!!! I would not recommend this company to anyone!!! I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NEVER WISH MY EXPERIENCE ON ANYONE!!!!

Took a very long time to set up the system (2 hours on phone just to install the adapter for my analog phones), then it took several calls to get just the basic features working. Always prompt and courteous customer service, just seemed like it should have been easier to set up and get running.

The VOIP service has be exceptional. It is a GREAT value for the money. I chose VOIP for the ability to have two lines, long distance, keep our current numbers and many other great features. The only thing I was not pleased with was the quality of the phone for the price I paid for it. Other than that all is great.

As an existing customer of Nextiva and a long time AT&T call center manager, I have to say how terrific Nextiva is. Every representative that I talk to is technically knowledgeable and incredibly kind. Finding people that have engineering knowledge with great customer service skills, are not easy. In fact I used to struggle with this challenge every day. Nextiva's staff is great.

Great phone service and applications for my office. Me and my employees that use the phones like what we have with Nextiva. Sticking around and using Comcast for my office phone service made no sense to me after they decided to raise my prices once I was a customer for 3 years. I decided to switch phone service providers and my bill is almost half the price of what it was before Comcast raised my rates and I actually deal with a company that isn't as messed up. Nextiva has been spectacular.

I first used VOIP in 2006 with a company called Sunrocket. It was a service I used at my house and was outstanding. Outstanding until they went out of business one morning and left me without a working home phone. Since then I've used Century Link for home and office internet and phone service. Last month I decided to cut Century Link entirely at home and now my wife and kids use our cell phones. At my office we switched to Cox for Internet and Nextiva for phones. Cox was a simple choice since it was the only other local option for internet. Phone service wasn't as easy to select since I wanted more than just phones and voicemail for $60 per line. This led me to conducting research and I talked to nearly every phone company imaginable. I spent a good two weeks reviewing documents, comparing prices, finding the best phone equipment and in the end chose Nextiva for the phone service. I haven't used Nextiva for a long enough time to really judge it but my experience so far has been impressive and good for business.

Reviewers Comments:

It's a simple service and has worked wonders for me. I personally really like Nextiva, but can see that their service is not for all businesses. First, you need to decide if a PBX phone system is right for your business. Smaller organizations can operate off of more basic solutions like Google Voice or Vonage, in some cases Skype is a good fit. If your company needs more than just basic calling/forwarding/voicemail features, take a serious look at PBX based solutions. Now, PBX systems have two ways to go....On-premise or hosted. On-premise systems such as Avaya, Switchvox, and Nortel are great fits for larger organizations (100+). However you must have someone at your office that's a phone system expert, don't try running an on-premise solution alone. If your onsite phone system isn't configured properly, get ready for problems. My personal recommendation for companies in need of a PBX is to go with something cloud based. Everything is managed by the service provider, rather than you. I've used Nextiva for only a few months but can say that it's been a great solution. Also consider companies like Vocalocity, OnSIP and Ringcentral as they all do similar things. What stands out with Nextiva are the features and customer service. I would rate their customer service 10 out of 5, it's that good. As someone with a robust technical background, I can say that the on boarding and overall value of Nextiva is awesome. If you decide to go with an on-premise phone system, make sure you go with a VOIP based PBX. Analog is old and a pain.

Review 129 : Incompetent and expensive Posted: DEC 17th, 2012

Reviewers Comments:

I have used Nextiva since 2008 but no more. Essentially their customer service representatives try hard but are not able to bind the company to anything. I have had several billing issues, the latest was I new my phone needed to be renewed but they did not send me a renewal notice, so I called them and told them I think I needed to pay ? well they disagreed with me and told me I had another 10 months of service left! I told them it had to be a mistake but they assured me I did not have to pay until Sept of 2013. 2 days later they shut off my phone service with no warning. Prior to that we had a billing dispute on a second line where they kept charging me for a second line I did not have. When they finally acknowledged the error the indicated they could only refund me the current month, not the past several months I had been billed for. In the end, you cannot trust this company to do or charge you what they say they will. The are more expensive than most companies and the actual call clarity and reliability is only so-so. I am trying my luck elsewhere.

Nextiva works very well for me. I have phones setup across 6 locations in the southeast for over a year. Everyone in our company know connects via extension rather than dialing the full number and it's made setting up call groups very easy. One main downside, there's no Internet service offered by Nextiva. Each of our offices runs on it's own ISP account.

Reviewers Comments:

They stay on the phone with me until my questions are answered and every thing is right. When I transferred my phone numbers from At&t to Nextiva I spent a few days going back and forth with both companies to fix problems At&t was causing. I don't know why we had the issues but each time I called Nextiva, they made sure every area was covered and fine. If you're looking for a company with billing that mails you invoices every month, I would not recommend Nextiva since they limit their billing to online only. They send you an invoice and then charge the credit card on your account every month. Other than this limitation, everything with the service is great.

Have been with Nextiva for more than 2 years. Even the set-up process was painful and incompetent. It took weeks to port my numbers and hours upon hours of phone time with them to straighten things out. There are constant problems with dropped calls. If you are lucky, you get a good Tier One technician, but that is rare. Dropped calls are a certainty with weeks of trouble-shooting. This last round has me (took two weeks of calling them back constantly for updates). I am now looking for another provider since Nextiva has failed to take responsibility for the problems and has billed me for dozens of dropped toll free calls. I find it hard to believe that they are a top-rated company! AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!

The Nextiva rep whom I spoke with today was both courteous and knowledgeable regarding our setup. Being a nontechnical person, she was kind and walked me through the entire configuration process. My call with her was not focused on her getting everything setup and ending the call as soon as possible. She spent time to work with me and made sure I understood the way my new phones work. Her help was very much appreciated.

Review 121 : Really Good Posted: NOV 3rd, 2012
OVERALL RATING: (5) REVIEWER: Wesley

Reviewers Comments:

Our firm started off by using an Avaya phone system and it was doing the job for us until we outgrew the functionality. After talking to an Avaya representative and considering the purchase of a new system for our office, the investment was too large and it just didn't feel like the best solution for our needs. The basic costs to update and manage the phones with a consultant were too high as well. So we began reviewing off-premise phone solutions after noticing other firms using these types of phones. The process took us 3 months to come to a decision and we evaluated many companies, I'd say at least 5. Sites like this helped us analyze what would work best for us and when it really came down to who was the best to work with. Primarily because the phone company we wanted to go with had to be the last company we look into for a while, switching phone systems is not something we can afford to do on a regular basis and particularly during busy season. At the end of reviewing quotes and talking to representatives, our 80 person office made the switch to Nextiva and it's been really good. Every time I've called Nextiva for help, each person is helpful, nice, and best of all free to talk to. Having this free support has been a lifesaver and I can't imagine how much money we've saved by having free support. While I would have had to purchase new phones with Avaya's new system, I would have also had to by the brain or main system as well. With Nextiva the only up front cost has been with the phones and they do more than what we need. The phones by Polycom look better than the ones with Avaya. I've also added new employees to the phone system in a simple manner which would have taken ages to complete on the old system. The benefits with Nextiva have been worth the switch.

My company has used Nextiva as our business VOIP provider now for one year. The system features, pricing each month, free recording services, etc are nice but what has been best is their customer service. Every phone call I've had with their technicians has been pleasant. It's hard to find companies so great in customer service and Nextiva deserves great praise for their amazing service.

Review 117 : Business Line With Nextiva Posted: SEP 1st, 2012

Reviewers Comments:

My experience with Nextiva has been well thus far. I've spent the majority of my career working for GE and I've never really worried about our phone system or services. I believe we used Avaya phones that rarely ran into problems or caused any issues. Furthermore my role did not require me to be on the phones very much. On a simple level, everything just worked when I was at GE. After retiring in 2009 I continue to do consulting work under my own business name and setting up a phone line was one of the first things I did. I like to be up to speed with technology and choice a voice over IP service provider in stead of a regular copper line. The company I signed up with for phone service was Aptela and used AT&T for my Internet connection. Getting the phone system setup and working for more than a day with Aptela was a nightmare. Quite frankly, this was not what I had expected to experience. Especially after all the great things the sales person told me about the technology and phone service. Shortly after joining the Aptela service, I moved my phone number to Nextiva and canceled Aptela. I kept my line with AT&T and I can confidently say that the difference between the two phone providers were night and day. Setting up Nextiva took less than an hour if I recall correctly and not once have I ran into any problems. In fact I continue to use their service along with AT&T and use the same Linksys SPA 942 desk phone. Most importantly, the customer service representatives at Nextiva are stellar. Everyone I've talked to has been pleasant and knowledgable. As a business owner that's been paying Nextiva for three years, I say it's a great phone company.

This Company has NO CLUE what they are doing. Calls drop constantly. We were given a completely new fax account one day OUT OF THE BLUE for no reason, and all of our old faxes stored in the system were lost. We were charged for service THREE TIMES in one month. Nobody in customer service knew why our calls were dropping, yet they kept telling me "it's probably a firmware issue". Every time. I emailed the company leadership. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. When we cancelled our voice service, we decided to keep the fax service. Without telling us, ONCE AGAIN, they gave us a new account, and all of our faxes in the system were LOST AGAIN! All the service people are friendly. But the company doesn't realize that friendly employees who have no idea whats going on do NOT equal good customer service. Save your business, go with another company. We chose Vocalocity. Very happy now.

This service is horrible, every other day i would come in to work only to find that my phones were no longer working and i would have to have a technician walk through trying to get them reconnected sometimes taking more than 45 mins per call. I am running a business and i dont have the time to waste on my cell trying to get my office phones up and running. The managers dont call you back when you request to speak with one, billing wont call you back when they say they will. I am so glad to be done with this service. Never issued me the credit on my bill that I deserved for the business I was losing, just horrible. Good luck in your search, but do not use this company.

Very happy with Nextiva. Have been using the service for a while with no issues. The one time we did see an issue it was related to the internet service provider making a change without telling us and Nextiva resolved the issue promptly. Took control of a desktop, changed a couple of settings and the issue was resolved without any pain. Recently upgraded to new IP phone option and the transition took less than a minute to change a mac address and boot a phone.

Been with Nextiva for over 4 years. I'm stupid for not changing early on, but I did not want to have any more issues by changing my VOIP provider, but now it's just really messing my business up. Every other month is either dropped calls or the Nextiva systems are down. Totally unreliable. And no, my dropped calls are not due to my connection as I have 6MB up and 3MB down for three phones/three computers. Way more than I need. I keep receiving excuses like they are in the process of upgrading, etc. etc. One weekend, my phone systems were down the entire time without me knowing until I received an email from my upset and frustrated client. Their excuse was that they were upgrading their systems and there was a glitch. VERY INCONSISTENT... I'm leaving to RingCentral to give them a shot.

I was using Ring Central's phone and fax service for over a year and everything was well until just a few months ago. Because my service with them would lose connection and I could not deal with their outages, I signed up for 8x8 and Nextiva to test a new phone company. Both 8x8 and Nextiva provided a good service and I'd recommend their service to nearly anyone, but my final decision was to go with Nextiva primarily for the cost. The service costs less and everything is in the US. i've only been a customer of Nextiva for less than a month. So far the phone and fax service they provide is good. I just need to see their reliability be greater than that of Ring Central.

This is one poor company. I started up with them in April 2011. Their salesperson confirmed they had no issues working with Comcast or AT&T U- verse, as we had both in different cities. They could work with NEITHER. It took a year for them to admit they need work-arounds. We bought special equipment they recommended for Comcast, never worked, so we gave up. Now that we've finally given up onthem, we can't get them to port our original lines back over, with the excuse they outsource that to xo. This is a joke. We've been waiting for weeks for the porting and get not cooperation whatsoever. I strongly recommend staying away from this group. BTW, the customer service people seem nice enough, they just don't correct anything.

I have been working with Nextiva for nearly 2 months now to get 6 phone lines implemented for my small business. I have been a techy for most of my career and I am not intimidated by working with tech support, and lord knows I have tried. Way to many issues to give all the details of, but here is some of what I have run into that remains unresolved: - One of my employees phones simply will not connect - I have been given no fewer than 3 web sites from which I need to manage PBX configuration, 1 of which is nearly useless, and the other two are extremely confusing and unintuitive. - My vFax regularly drops pages and requires multiple sends to get a complete fax through. - My higher end phones (Polycom 550's) reboot in the middle of calls, drop calls, and in many cases will not answer a phone call by any means. In other cases, they simply will not dial certain phone numbers. - The soft phone (Call Manager) we have been provided only works for some employees and requires my employees to sign in to a configuration screen which allows them to change PBX configuration settings for their phone...? I have worked with technical support dozens of times now to resolve these issues, but have gotten nowhere... I am transitioning to another provider as we speak. I cannot account for the positive reviews for this company. Good luck if you choose Nextiva.

I searched through many providers but Nextiva had the most knowledgeable sales staff and the best price. I was blown away by the quality and promptness of their support. In our business, phones are our lifeline. Nextiva made 'moving to the cloud' seamless and easy. I would never go back to the old school Verizon, where a support call can mean an hour long wait. NEXTIVA ROCKS!

I manage homes and apartment units throughout Virginia and got into using Nextiva because a company I acquired was using their phone service. Through the acquisition we continued to operate of their office as well as our own, essentially having two phone systems. One was with Verizon and the other was with Nextiva. After a year of paying the two phone bills and not able to transfer calls internally, I decided to run off of Nextiva and stop using Verizon. Let alone that Nextiva was nearly half the price of Verizon, the phone system has been better in every area. While I do appreciate everything the Verizon service did for us during the last 10 years, Nextiva has been much better. The only pain with Nextiva is that I have trouble updating the music-on-hold file - it requires a specific file type that I can't record our messaging in. And while Nextiva does convert the file for us and the support is always fast and helpful, I'd prefer to do this myself. Running off of the Nextiva system is something I'd tell other businesses to do as well. It's good.

After three days of frustration, I am moving back to our old provider. Nextiva just cannot deliver. Their support department is anything but qualified. Most of their level 1 support people follow scripts and have no real knowledge. Their level 2 support is non-existent. Their sales people seem to be working in a different company... literally! The sales department cannot do anything but escalate your complaints to the SUPPORT dept. who cannot handle anything more than, maybe, program a phone. Their new system is buggy and just doesn?t work. Set up of the account has been a huge task. So after three days of frustration and no answers, we have decided to terminate the account... BEWARE!

I couldn't access the online control panel. I called and tech support answered the phone immediately. With the help of the person from Nextiva, we determined that my login wasn't working since my husband changed the username for our account. After trying the new username, I got into the control panel. Tech service was great and always has been.

We switched to Nextiva a month ago. We have noticed improvement in our sound quality and we have not had any droped calls like we did with our last carrier. We are an office with 8 lines and switched them to the Nextiva Connect plan. We are able to forward the number to our cell phones after hours and this has really improved our business.

The service has worked well for us. We joined Nextiva a few weeks before we opened our art gallery and have been very happy with the service. I worked for Siemens prior to opening my gallery and went through tough times with the phone system we used in our office. This phone system is easy and their customer service is helpful. I'd recommend Nextiva.

We have 10 lines - a good intake, but a useless billing department if your account is hacked. I had to escalate to the FCC to get a reply back to 3 tickets requesting a refund and an address of the issue (international SIP hack calling international phone numbers). Eventually, they did do something to help secure they line, and without telling us, they disabled our employees phone. Having served our customers in IT for over 12 years, That's amateur hour defined in my book. -JG - CEO

I just opened my first business and joined Nextiva this past Monday, the 19th. I have an insurance agency and selected Nextiva based on the things I read on this website along with my experience in talking to them. So far, I've made the right choice. Everything I was told has happened. My phone service has been setup and working since I received the phones on Wednesday. Nextiva has earned top ratings from me. The first week has been stellar.

Switching from a traditional telephone service provider to Nextiva VoIP telephone and fax service was definitely, in my opinion, a great move. We are a small business that ships products worldwide, with 4 voice lines, 1 fax line and an 800-number. The switchover went about as expected. Nextiva tech support was a great help. My only complaint would be the number of times I had to be transferred from one rep. to another, to another. The Cisco 303 IP Phones we purchased seem to work well. The only problem with the hardware, and the whole setup process itself, was the lack of paper documentation that came with the phones, and the difficulty in finding the information you are seeking in Cisco's massive PDF documentation files. Features such as Hunt Group, Auto Attendant, and Voicemail setup were a bit time consuming, but Nextiva support was able to make things go a bit quicker. I have all ready, and will continue, to recommend Nextiva VoIP service to colleagues, customers and vendors!

After switching from a different VoIP Provider whos network failed multiple times, we switched to Nextiva. We were able to move our small office of five phones to Nextiva's Connect 360 plan with no issues. Since being with Nextiva for 3 months, we have not had any outages or any dropped phone calls. This is a huge step up from our previous voip provider.

Reviewers Comments:

I have had Nextiva Connect360 SIP Trunking service for 2 full years. In that time, I have had numerous outages with no notification other than customers calling my cell to let me know my service is down or not being able to dial out - some of these have persisted for several hours, twice for days. The tier 1 customer service does an adequate job of fielding calls and running trouble tickets, but generally, are unable to really help or even provide the confirmation that, ?yes, we have a problem and we are trying to resolve it?. I wind up, after I discover I have an issue, contacting customer service, then getting the standard boiler plate "check your connection, reboot, blah, blah" time wasting before they'll actually let on that they are having an issue. This kills what could be productive time otherwise spent. Nextiva is my first VoIP provider and I can confidently say, its cheaper that Ma Bell, but its not better. I maintain two separate high speed internet connections for redundancy (Charter 60m/5m and AT&T 6m/756k) and I can move the VoIP gateway between the two connections by simply switching the LAN cable and rebooting the gateway (3-5 minutes). Even with this redundancy, I still am without phone service from time to time (the exact amount of down time is questionable as I am unaware its down until I discover it myself). An email or some sort of emergency reroute/backup profile at Nextiva would be preferable to the current system. If your business lives or dies by the phone, it pays to consider what sort of options the SIP provider has for when their stuff goes down. They'll all tell you "99.999% up time", but in my experience, and apparently others here, that's just not true. Overall, the features and value are pretty good, but my business runs like a store front over the phone - if you aren't there to answer the call, the customer will call someone else...and its tough to gauge how expensive that really is.

I give them 5s for almost each option. My experience with Nextiva has been great. I share my opinion so others know how a company performs and I appreciate it when other users do the same. I've used their phone and fax service for nearly a year. Everything has been smooth which is quite rare when it comes to me and technology. Nextiva has some of the best customer service around. I'd put them up there with the Four Seasons hotel. There have been certain processes I've experienced with Nextiva that I have since incorporated into my own business. The best process being the proactive approach towards customer service. Nextiva calls and emails me out of the blue to check on how I'm doing with the service. After my first run with this, I hired someone to do a similar customer followup. While most companies like to let go of the customer as soon as they get the sale, Nextiva cares. My business will be with them for the long run.

I used Nextiva for nearly a month and I was impressed with their services. I did not have the opportunity to stay with them because I sold my business immediately after the switch and I will use them when I launch my next project. The service was better than Frontier's that I had been paying for for 8 years and they refunded every penny I gave them since I canceled. I have been impressed and therefore had to write a kind note.

My recommendation would just depend. We use the phone to make sales calls, perform web demos and take service calls. We use 4 extensions - we often have cutting out, garble, echo during calls - and the phone periodically does not work when we call an 800# and dial an extension, and definitely cannot use when entering a conference call code such as go to meeting. We use a land line phone for anything "important"...it's stressful to use the voip service if the call is important. We've tried calling support and purchased an expensive router as recommended by Nextiva in July 2011 - we are now at the end of Sept 2011 and nothing has helped. When we call Nextiva, they tell me to reboot the system/router/etc...seriously, how often can you do that when you are running a business??? The tech guys are really helpful with redirecting the router to prioritize the phone and that helped with cutting out but it's still garble, echo and cutting out sometimes. Keep a landline and consider using cell phones - they are much, much more reliable!

Each support rep gives a different story about why their service won't work, your router is unsupported, you need to bridge your gateway, you need to upgrade the firmware on all the phones, etc. No reference is ever given to continue resolving a problem. One support rep did not ask for the Security Pin on two separate calls, which gives you and idea of the security you get with them. I had to call back, to escalate the security issue with a supervisor, and he sounded very indifferent. STAY AWAY FROM NEXTIVA for your own good.

Probably doesn't include the features that others may have based on the research I've done however Nextiva works perfectly. My VOIP provider before this was with Vonage and I've found Nextiva to be better in nearly every aspect. Especially the call clarity. Vonage was a true nightmare. There would be times that callers couldn't hear what I was saying. All together I've been pleased with nextiva and I'd recommend.

Nextiva was not my first run with a VoIP company. Before using nextiva, I tried using vonage. I canceled vonage a week after signing up because I didn't realize that I'd need 4 telephone adapters to make their service work in my office. Since vonage is made for home phone service, I started searching for business phone companies and chose Nextiva. Nearly every experience I've had with Nextiva has been great. Their techs are smart and not outsourced like Vonage. The phones were not tough to setup. Probably since I bought them from Nextiva instead of amazon. I use Polycom phones.... The model is 331. Nextiva is very good to use.

This isn't as great as first thought, but it is good. We are likely going to save money, and the ability to change anything on the fly through the website is great. There have been mysterious dropouts and a couple of weird incidents, but overall it is OK. We have been using the hosted version with 4 users on DSL. Calls ext. to ext. are the worst. It seems the calls from farthest away are the clearest?? Why I don't know? You cannot talk while the other peraon is talking, but this is rude anyway.

Once I provided information to Which VOIP, I was immediately called by several companies wanting our business. I chose Nextiva primarily because they had a good rating with the BBB online and there was very minimal start up cost. We use a standard AT&T telephone with 3 handsets and the Nextiva Adapter in our office. It is all working okay at this time. We are in an office behind an internet splitter so It took the Techs a while to figure out we had to have another splitter (between my computer and the Adapter) for this to work. The Tech department was fast, smart, and very helpful. There are times when the voice quality is not great on the phone calls. I'm still not 100% confident in the system and I almost always start out a conversation with "can you hear me okay". I use the "fax" feature which I love, but twice it has sent 30 pages of jibberish instead of the 1 page I was faxing.

I have a small office and required four lines, a fax line and a toll free line. Nextiva has very good and easy to understand "bundle" options - much easier to understand than competing services. Service reliability has been good, only minor issues related to initial setup. Their service was able to quickly resolve all issues, and even follow-up afterwards to ensure continued success. Service = 10 out of 10! Some features don't work exactly like a traditional PBX or Key System. But, other features, such as voicemail to email and IP management, provide huge advantages to the aforementioned systems. Overall, I would highly recommend Nextiva!

For the money I spend this service is very solid and I would recommend it. Making phone calls is practically the same as any other phone so there isn't anything to rave about. What I do like is their fax service that works like email. When I first signed up for the service I bought the adapter for the fax line I liked having my documents come through via our all-in-one copier/fax/scanner. I have an Allstate agency and since I'm regularly receiving documents the cost of the ink made me think that moving to their fully digital fax service was the right choice. And it was. All my faxes now come to my email inbox and I don't need to be at my office in order to check the documents. For the simplicity of the faxing, this service is great. Reviewing my experiences with their customer service phone representatives, the value for the money beats AT&T infinitely.

When I purchased the Nextiva system I had an Accesline IP phone system that I was ready to replace. So I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with the Nextiva rep being a good consumer and asking lots of questions. When I received the Nextiva system I spent hours on the line with tech support only to discover that the router I use doesn't work with a Nextiva system of more than one phone extension. What? When I called customer service to complain they said I would need to buy a $69.99 router or return the systme. When I told them they should have informed me that my router didn't work BEFORE I made the purchase, not after, they said, "Tough luck!" So I'm returning the system. The system and phones seem pretty good but if the customer service and tech support are terrible, who cares how good the system is. I don't want to spend my life on hold waiting to talk to indifferent tech support people.

After too many instances of Speakeasy going down we decided to move the entire boat over to Nextiva. Moving everything over wasn't a challenging process. Things are great with Nextiva right now.

The features that they offer are very good. I simply chose Nextiva because they did not have any service contracts to commit to and since my business is new, I cannot predict where my business will stand in two years from now. The customer service was helpful in getting me started. If you are looking for a new phone company I would recommend Nextiva.

There is a mistake on the description on the website. It states that additional lines (extensions) are $9.99/mo but it is incorrect. This heavily factored into my decision in addition to all the good reviews but probably should be corrected.

This is a follow-up to the June 14, 2010 review and rating. Because of what has been uncovered by NEXTIVA I now DO recommend them. Once the Nextiva tech started digging into their carrier to determine why certain calls were getting a disconnect message, they spent several hours working and arguing with Verizon (prior landline provider) and eventually convinced Verizon that they still had traces of my phone number in their switch system. Once those traces were removed, the problem was fixed. I believe that Verizon was at fault, perhaps to sabotage VOIP transitions. I still did not like that I had to be an increasingly squeaky wheel for two months before tech-support seem to take the problem seriously.

This is a follow up to a review I did earlier, when I first joined Nextiva. The service was good when I signed up in November 08 and has still been great. I'm still using the same set of phones I purchased when I got setup and overall things have been working well. My position remains the same, I recommended them back when I first joined and I still would.

Continuous problems with certain callers getting a "This phone number has been disconnected..." Really embarassing, and still not fixed after almost 2 months after "ticket" created. Nextiva says it is a "carrier" problem, but that doesn't mean anything to me or my cusomters who cannot get through to me. Annoying delays in voice also that have never been fixed. Stay away unless you don't care if calls get through to you.

For the sake of doing it right I setup the VOIP service with a number of companies around the same time - Nextiva, 8x8, Vocalocity and Ringcentral and let the best provider win. Being a sales guy myself, I did not want to be sold and figured it's only right if I give each company a legit shot. Clearly with me writing this you know who won. Without skipping around I'll put it like this, Nextiva had the best customer service, online user interface and they just make me feel good. Pretty much every company met me at the same point when it came down to price. The only catch out of the 4 companies was that 8x8 wanted a contract if I decided to stay with them. Features they all were pretty much the same when it came to what I was looking for and the quality of the calls was good across the board. Since I'm not super technical but have some experience, I wanted to see who would guide me the best support when it came to the overall setup of service. Nextiva's ppl had it down, they were a pleasure to work with and super patient. I can't say the same about the others. Ringcentral's support was not close to what the sales guy told me and trying to cancel my account with them was a pain. Literally. I was told by two different ppl I'd get a cancel email shortly, but it took a total of three calls to actually make the cancellation happen. One thing that sealed the deal with Nextiva was that they kept in close contact with me on twitter. I said it earlier and the twitter situation is a good example about how I feel good using Nextiva. They got it down well and if you need phone service choose Nextiva. If you are thinking about using VOIP, do it. I travel all the time and taking my phone from city to city is great.

If you are used to the phone company repairing and servicing your phone the next day, Nextiva is NOT for you. A Nextiva customer is a patient customer. When issues are "escalated" to "Level 2" be prepared to wait at least a week before someone gets around to servicing your issue.

Nextiva's service has been a godsend for my business. From the initial point of contact with a sales representative to five minutes ago when I called support to learn more about call forwarding, Nextiva has been unbelievable. The price is cheap and the service is better than companies that charge 8 times the price. Features and sound quality have been unreal (as in good). I give them five bars for all ratings. The value of Nextiva phone service is strong.

Nextiva was the company we chose to go with because the timing was right for us. We launched a 24 hour support center and needed a new phone system that was cheap. Instead of using our cell phones. We needed something thats for businesses without crazy high expenses. It was a good choice for us. The price is very reasonable, I mean dirt cheap. And the features like call hunting and forwarding are really good.

Absolutely a great choice for us. We started a 5 line order with them, mainly to see how they perform. We weren't fans of switching all of our numbers to them right off the bat. I viewed it as a risk, when we have the option to scale up. We figured it would be a better move to first try them out and then transfer our numbers. The 5 lines we started with were sales lines for our outbound calling initiatives. The network reliability has been good with no signs of issues and the transition was not challenging. They did a nice job overall and we ended up moving our other 19 lines to them. The porting of our numbers took about two weeks or so. My bill is 1700 cheaper each month! They're the best thing since sliced bread.

I?ve been using a Nextiva PBX for 6 months now and I?ve never been more impressed with a VoIP Provider. Hands down, they beat BroadVoice, voip.com, and Vonage. Although Vonage has their network together on a massive scale, the quality of service with Nextiva is fantastic. I actually feel bad requesting support because I know what it takes to provide quality VoIP (Being a former employee of a major voip firm) and Nextiva doesn?t cut corners. From my research and use, I found they use good quality multi-homed bandwidth with their network, asterisk systems that support a wide variety of codecs, and they actually have a real live English speaking person in their porting department (Who returns phone calls!) You couldn?t ask for more? Pit Falls: there sales department is a little high pressured and willing to sell you the moon. The way the account sign up process works (when I signed up) had a stupid insecure default password Their PBX features are lacking things like call screening which is extremely useful when forwarding extensions to peoples home or cell phones so they know to answer professionally. Things to good to be true; Unlimited really is unlimited. I?ve had extremely large conference calls going on my single unlimited line. (Broadvoice and others restrict this to two total users in conference) I haven?t seen a quota on my voicemail storage. I can connect more than one soft phone using one set of SIP credentials. (Soft phone at the home and office rings simultaneously -awesome) Price, price, price.

Each point of the nextiva service deserves high praise. The sound quality has been phenomenal and the customer service is #1. The customer service helpdesk has always been patient in answering my questions and making sure I'm on the same page with them. For 30 bucks a month and no contract, it would be a mistake not to use them. I don't like waiting on hold when I call in for help with any company I deal with. The hold times at nextiva are generally low and a pleasure to speak to nice people in this country.

We are a sing-location doctor's office and evaluated several business VOIP providers prior to trying out Nextiva. Our setup is 1 Amazon-purchased Linksys PAP2T-NA, AT&T slow DSL, 1 phone line, 5 cordless phones. We also use the Nextiva follow-me feature and the Auto-Attendant. We also use X-lite on 2 Macintosh computers sometimes. Nextiva Sales was not pushy, in fact they were the inverse. We initially used a free # and then when we decided it worked well, we ported our # over to Nextiva. We had hiccups when deciding we wanted to stay with Nextiva long-term and tried to change our account from monthly billing to quarterly billing (which is not possible without creating a new account and losing all your settings). Our advice is to evaluate their service/website/features with their free #, then port your # to a new account and do the quarterly billing from the start - you won't be dissapointed. All Service reps are STELLAR and very knowledgeable but some had access to more troubleshooting tools than others. The Nextiva account setup website is stellar - the doctor often changes the Follow-Me settings from his iPhone on the weekends when he doesn't want to be bothered. The MP3 email of the voice mail is very useful. The FAQ and videos on the website are exemplary. We have no plans to switch to another provider and besides a few critical hiccups, the service has been stellar. We would highly recommend Nextiva. The only other potential downside is their hours of operation, which, for some types of businesses like ours, is less than optimal if problems with the phone system arise when Nextiva is closed for the day. Fortunately we have not had any problems after-hours. We do wish they had a web FAX product so that we could use Nextiva for all communications. We would recommend their service to other doctors offices.

I like how they don't do the whole contract game where they lock you in. Nextiva support is phenomenal. I had an issue with my router and instead of telling me to call my ISP or Linksys, they worked with me the entire way to get everything working. That is something I did not and would not expect from a phone company to do. My network is an odd one because I get internet service from the building. The support person was patient and got me setup. Since setting up the phones have been working without any challenges.

My experience with Nextiva's service kicked off on a good note when I got a courtesy welcome call from their team thanking me for joining. It was not a long call and they weren't trying to sell me anything....something you don't see too often. Thankfully they were able to port my number. Two other providers I was looking at told me they couldn't port my number. Jumping from the analog world to digital was wise. I'm a fan of how I can manage my account from the online control panel. Probably the best thing about nextiva (even though most of the other things are great) is the fact that they have a good support dept. that's not outsourced. I can't stand how I call every company/vendor and they outsource their support. As a business owner, the idea of outsourcing does not make much sense to me and its nice to see that the people that pick up the phones for them don't read off a scripts all day long.

Standard phone companies I've dealt with do not care if my service works or if I'm happy. They just want their money, this is something I can't stand and forced me to leave Comcast. It is ridiculous that I was paying them $370 every month and they would blow me off like I was nothing. Even if they are one of the biggest companies ever, you still don't do that. I looked at Comcast to realize how I should not treat my customers and I'm not kidding. Doing the opposite was my strategy. After getting fed up I transferred my numbers to Nextiva and now use them for my business. I was using the Intalk plan at my house so I knew that it wasn't going to be a nightmare like Comcast when I went with them for my business. The sound quality and customer service has been great. They were helpful in getting me setup and it did suck that I had to wait about 2-3 weeks for my number to transfer over to them but other than that everything has been good and probably better than I expected. Largely because it couldn't get much worse than Comcast. Seriously.

Nextiva deserves five stars because the support people are nice. I got my service up and running fast and everything worked great but the caller ID on my phone when I called out showed my business name (which probably should by default). I called in to support asking them to switch the name to my own name instead of the business and they got that taken care fast. It's just an example but overall the people are nice and the service works the way it should.

The features deserve five stars mainly because they work. Most technology companies I deal with have issues with delivering on what they promise, with Nextiva we've experienced something different. The call quality has sounded clear each time I've been on the phone and have liked their customer service. My sales associate was nice and a pleasure to work with when I was checking out providers to go with. The decision was made to go with Nextiva after I spoke with a sales representative at two other companies. One of the companies, Vonage, had their sales person outsourced. To me this was a big negative. I don't mind outsourcing in the right areas, but I cant comprehend why I would give my business to a company that outsources their sales dept and does not properly train them. If I wanted to review Vonage I would keep going, but I did not like the sales experience with Vonage. My questions were fully answered by nextiva and the setup of the service was good. I purchased the phones from a phone site online and nextiva's support helped me with the setup which was nice and efficient.

I operate multiple restaurant locations and started off by having different phone providers at each location. This was due to a few reasons. I only used VoIP companies for service and after two years of testing and playing around, Nextiva received the nod. Nextiva was our fourth VoIP provider and they look like the last provider. Being able to extension dial between all the restaurants is a great feature. The email notifications for each voicemail we receive is probably my favorite feature. Our analysis of VoIP companies was that most had issues with support and their response to feedback. We have not been too difficult to handle and our requests are not out of this world. I have been happy with the call clarity the most though. Its been consistently good and the sound has not been choppy.

As I am using Nextiva for their Connect plan, I can't speak on the sound quality. I give their features rating a 5 mainly because what they sold me works the way it should. I have an auto attendant that answers every call then forwards to each department I've established. As a broker, I'm rarely in the office that's why most calls forward to my cell. The caller ID for each call comes thru and the calls get to me without a delay. Having this solution is something I needed to get much earlier as the auto attendant is something that's helped me out.

When taking a look at most competitive and practical phone providers what struck us about Nextiva was that they had positive reviews and the price. Not having a phone company that practices deception is a great plus. Having to pay a cancellation fee to leave Qwest was not something I wanted to do, yet when considering our Nextiva service and what we get from them, it's not as bad that we had to pay the fee. With Qwest we were really just getting voicemail and domestic calling, absolutely nothing else. Now with Nextiva the features are surely far above average and the price is nice. I marked Nextiva as five star worthy for each category except for the price aspect in this review. I do feel that their price is low compared to Qwest and my local provider before Qwest, although the price can always be lower. But we should not be complaining as we are saving about $140 each month on service. -Morgan

The decision to go with Nextiva was not easy. We had placed a request for a quote on a VoIP web site and we were contacted by about five providers, all of which we evaluated. After looking into what each company offered and what they charged, the choice to use Nextiva made the most sense. The sales associate was knowledgeable and kind and we really liked how they didn't have an additional fee for everything we needed. The service is on a flat rate so we get unlimited minutes and features for about $30 per month per line. Considering we have 3 lines, this is a great deal.

As most of the other reviewers here mention, the customer service at Nextiva has been great. This is my first time using a VoIP company for our phones and I did not know what to expect. One thing I like is that they spend time explaining the service rather than just reading off of a card and trying to get me off the phone (this is what my last provider always did). We've also been happy with the call quality. All calls sound clear and we are using our regular POTS phones.

I first used gotvmail and a residential provider before I realized everything can be combined into one service. I've been a Nextiva user since September 08 and have been happy. Canceling my gotvmail wasn't too tough and I got out of paying vonage the termination fee (their service is not good at all). Before I moved my toll free number from gotvmail I tried Nextiva with a temporary number --- everything was fine and hence made the switch. I'm paying less than what I was paying before and my phone service is just easier to manage then before. I'll write back if I have any issues, so far so good.

My main reason for choosing Nextiva was support. Price is a plus but I don't want to switch providers regularly and I don't want to get what I pay for by using a low cost VoIP provider. Thankfully Nextiva has proven to be an asset to our business and the concept of paying less and receiving less is thrown out the window. I've been blown away by the features I get, particularly the call quality. Thanks Nextiva. I never used VoIP technology prior to this and can see myself being a Nextiva user for a long time.

I like the concept of managing your phone service over the net. I am, for the most part, the most technical person in our office so I manage the entire Nextiva phone system. I needed some help in setting up the service, so I called their support and after a 15 minute conversation my questions were clarified and I understand their phone and how everything works. I don't need support all the time but its the best feeling to know that we have a quality provider. The decision to switch providers and go with Nextiva was mine so I'd be in lots of trouble if it didn't work out. Luckily our service with Nextiva has been great and I (we) are pleased.

Nextiva has a great offering overall. However, company is quite small. No customer service is available after hours. Our auto attendant stopped working during a holiday and could not be fixed before they came back in the office. They billed us for 2 hours calls that lasted 2 minutes. It took several calls to get it corrected. They overcharged for international calls and never credited back. They do not issue invoices when they charge you. So back-office is weak. Company needs to grow and mature. Competitors may not be better anyway.

I signed up for Nextiva in July of this year and had them port three of my phone numbers, including my toll- free number. They were very good in getting my number over to their service fast. I like companies that have a strong support system in case customers need help and Nextiva has just that. The hold times are very minimal, the help center online is actually helpful, and they answer emails fast. I am paying a fraction of what I'm used to and happy to may by bill to Nextiva rather than give my money to Verizon.

We started using VoIP for our business with Vonage. We were Vonage customers for about a year until we realized we could save even more money on our phone service and get a better provider. In essence Vonage has become like all other big phone companies. Its not that I don't like big phone companies, but we have a small business and want to work with companies that care about us. After reading positive reviews about them, we chose Nextiva. We bought our service online and received the phones we ordered fast. I watched their setup videos and have been impressed by the quality of each call. I'll make it simple, we found our phone company for life.

I recommend Nextiva's phone service for any business looking for a new provider. Well in fact, companies not looking to switch providers should also consider nextiva. They give me free long distance, a toll free number, and real support for pennies compared to what I was paying before. Donating money to the local company no longer makes any sense. My decision to use nexitva was correct and I am happy. I should also mention that the calls sound PERFECT every time.

I agree with the other reviewers here, Nextiva's phone service has been extremely beneficial to our business. Setting up was very simple. I watched their setup videos and literally got our office running off their system fast. I can't complain about anything, especially because I just transferred to them from a horrible phone company.

The money I've saved is great. It would cost us about $800/month for our businesses phone service, we have 6 employees by the way. Now we pay less that $200/month with NEXTIVA!!! Saving over $600 each month on our phone bill is helping us out a lot. Nextiva's services have been solid and I've been referring my friends to them. It just doesnt make sense to throw money away by giving it to the phone companies of old.

I placed the information I received from Nextiva on my table and compared it with a few other VoIP providers. The main thing that stood out was the price but also how I didn't have to worry about a contract. The reason I left AT&T was because of their games, every bill with them was a game. I didn't expect this was the case with Nextiva before signing up and it has not been now that I am a user. Nextiva has not forced me into a contract and they are legit. My business has been running Nextiva's service since June and the quality isn't much different from AT&T, the phone is a phone. We use cordless phones and VoIP has been great. What also stands out about Nextiva is their CUSTOMER SERVICE. Their support is real and knowledgeable. Based on what I've seen and researched, I can say that Nextiva was the correct choice and a wise move.

Nextiva is not my first VoIP provider for my business, I've had experience with three others (we switch phone providers every week it seems). In terms of features, Nextiva is the winner. The call forwarding works without issues and the voicemail to email feature is fast! Unlike our other VoIP providers, Nextiva's email's get to us fast. When taking into account the call quality I would say that most of the providers we've had were the same, except for Aptela (which was truly horrible). Aptela is a whole other story. Of all four providers we have used, including Nextiva, Nextiva is the cheapest. Price, especially these days makes a difference. But when we switched providers this last time it was not due to price - we need reliability and customer service that is real (as in, in the US). Nextiva's support is in the US and they know their phone system well. Each representative we have worked with has been great. Factoring price, features, quality, and CUSTOMER SERVICE, Nextiva wins as our favorite provider.

I found nextiva on this web site. When looking around for phone companies I called a few and got estimates from all of them. Many of them had similar offers...what was most important to me was service quality. I never want to go with a company similar to AT&T, Verizon, etc - I was looking for a company that was big but treated users like a new startup - based on the research and talking to friends, nextiva was the choice we made. The sales associate was helpful and did not mind that I called him a million times before joining...At signup I was quite confident in nextiva and I can say that I still am. I don't pay much for service with them and they still care. I purchased three IP phones and three lines of service and continue to be impressed by the call quality and ease of use as well as the setup. This review was written as recommendation for Nextiva, I really enjoy the fact that they are my phone provider. Everything has been perfect and I've been telling people I deal with about them.

Since joining Nextiva I have experienced better call quality. Every single call sounds perfect and we are getting to take advantage of the features that comes with their plan and its very impressive. We have an automated attendant answering every call and we like how we can receive voicemail's to our email box. I try not to think about what we paid before with Qwest, it was so overpriced.

I was searching for nextiva faq's and came across this page from Google. I joined Nextiva a week ago and until now I have had nothing but a great experience with them. My account was setup quite fast and they were very helpful in answering all my questions. Call quality is solid and the people in support/customer service are nice and fun to speak to. I gotta say, when I compare nextiva with a big telecom company it's a whole different world. I get personal attention from nextiva and the crazy thing is, they are a phone company :) So far so good.

At this moment I have 3 employees, use Nextiva for service, and have absolutely no complaints. I called their phone number and setup my account over the phone. After speaking with the sales associate I waited for our phones to ship. Once I received the phones I called into support and was very surprised by the low hold time and they actually knowledge of the support person. She assisted in setting up the account and I've not had a reason to call support. I manage my service from the internet and the call quality has been perfect.

Getting the best price is always important to me - I really looked around before choosing Nextiva business VoIP phone service for my company and they were one of the better priced VoIP providers out there. For what I get and the level of service I am very pleased. Nextiva cant be compared to a company like Verizon in terms of number of customers but when it comes to support and overall quality these guys are great. Business phone service is important and I the choice I've made has been great until now.

Nextiva's product is great but what makes me so happy about being a customer is the level of service. They truly care about their customers and support is top of the line. I paid a cancellation fee to my previous provider in order to switch and it was a smart move.

Nextiva's customer service is great. Their support has been very helpful in getting me started and I feel like I should share my experience with others. I chose Nextiva based on its positive reviews and helpful sales information. My account was setup quite fast and I called their support after signing up in order to go through the setup process. I'm not too technical so they walked me through the majority of the process and it was a pleasure speaking with them. I am no pro in their system but I'm sure I'll get a hang of it over time. I highly recommend Nextiva's phone service for people interested in finding a new provider.

I cancelled my service with AT&T once my contract expired with them and performed a detailed search to find the best phone company based on my needs. I received multiple quotes and spoke to many companies - after about 3 weeks of research I decided to go with Nextiva. One thing that I loved about them was the fact that they offered a 30 day money back guarantee. My account was setup very fast and I received my phones in 2 days - which is quite impressive for ground shipping. I called their support to receive help for setting up my auto attendant and my employee account. Overall I am yet to experience any major issues with their service and I would recommend them for anyone who is looking for new service. As my business grows I will continue to add lines of service.
