MegaPath originally formed in 1996 during the early days of VoIP before Internet telephony became a staple for business. The company's intentions have been much the same since the earliest incarnation of the organization: providing top-class technology for business consumers with voice, data and security services. Since founding, the company has undergone several evolutions to offer one of the highest-class business communication services focused on security in the US.
MegaPath mostly caters to larger businesses, especially those with multiple office locations but is flexible enough to support a broad range of businesses, including the SMB market. Their network is based on MPLS standards that modify how network traffic moves between end-points for optimal data transfer speeds. All services are built with security in mind that greatly benefits various clientele served by their network.
Of the many services offered, high-speed business Internet is a main component and available via several different connective technologies, all brandishing a variety of service capabilities and features. Arguably, the best services are found in the data-based Ethernet offerings that allow the consumer to choose between symmetrical download and upload speeds or set individual limits up to a total of 135Mbps. The connection is highly redundant with failover resolution that allows a business to stay connected in the event of one or more failures.
Other Internet services offered include EoDS1 - an ideal solution for company WANs as transfer speeds are not affected by the distance between most locations. A business may also choose from various other connection types such as T1, T3, DSL, managed WiFi and others - services can further be combined for certain scenarios.
Voice services offered come in several varieties but most impressively are low cost SIP Trunks offered for businesses with existing IP PBX systems. Prices change with various promotional offers but may go as low as $9.95 per trunk when bundled with data services. For companies without the means to support an in-house communication system, hosted voice and UC is available as well. The system offers several prominent features of business VoIP systems like voicemail transcription, CRM integration, call forwarding and many others. A secure online web portal easily manages all voice solutions.
The hosted Voice plans include a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a no minimum seat requirement. Customer support is 24/7/365 and is provided no matter the number of lines you have for your business. Unlimited local and nationwide (the lower 48 states plus Canada) calling is included in each plan as well as a 50+ feature pack. Low international rates are available with global calling included in their Enterprise plans. Free user and administrator training (live sessions and on demand) are included so you can get the most out of your new phone system.
Business network services available include a realm of hosted options that extend beyond voice. Highly redundant, cloud hosting options are available for infrastructure to supplement existing business infrastructure or as a complete solution for a total business network environment. Certain SaaS options are available as well that includes hosted options for Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint as well as a full DRaaS option supplemented by their partners at Mozy.
At WhichVoIP.com we attempt to uncover "closet skeletons" that companies often try to hide and further point out shortcomings in plain view. MegaPath, however, has very few marks on their record for any kind of major performance issues, although the few encountered problems have a common theme.
Around the time MegaPath acquired certain companies (i.e. Speakeasy and Covad) some issues affecting service uptime and certain customer service issues surfaced. Apparently because of bad communication, certain matters went unattended for a time that exceeded some customer's SLAs. Other issues denoted by various resources seem to indicate that when certain reps, managers or techs leave the company, the line of communication may not handoff to another associate in the most accurate manner.
MegaPath has one of the most broad service offerings in the North American market as their capacity extends far beyond communications. Though VoIP is major focus of the company, various other services from cloud hosting to data services make them a very powerful resource for business technology. Honestly, the company is so dynamic that it is difficult to cover every single aspect of the services they provide.
Though a handful of complaints are visibly in contention of the company's great service record, the issues are mostly isolated and quite rare considering their large base of clientele. Businesses seeking a comprehensive network solution that includes everything from data, infrastructure and a complete VoIP solution should take a closer look.

I feel a little foolish for not checking out the reviews before even making contact with Megapath for now I am having an issue with them which could of been avoided should I have known more about this company. I requested that I get 10 SIP trunks, totaling $20 per line monthly. My account wasn't setup until way after I signed an agreement with them because the agents dragged out the account setup process. After my account was finally setup and our office made the switch from our original provider, our phone quality dropped drastically and my company suffered a huge loss that week we made the switch. I emailed the agents at Megapath that set my account up to cancel my account that same week, which was within the thirty days of which the services were provided. Now I am getting a lawsuit for $9,800 against my company on the grounds that I didn't cancel thirty days after I signed the agreement which seems to me to be very unethical and feels very much like bait and switch. I requested a usage report to show that the service started way after than the day I signed, and proves that we've used the services for no more than a week. The attorney they have against me claims that a usage report is "irrelevant" and continues to press my company for $9,800 because I requested a cancellation passed the thirty days of my signature. Am I to pay them $9,800 for 4-5 days of usage? I think not.

Choosing Megapath for our voice and broadband has been a good decision so far. From purchase to install to using the system, the support has been tremendous. The voice service itself is great with more features than we will ever use. Price is great with significant savings over our previous service provider.

All I can say is that Megapath is light years ahead of our previous provider. Our monthly bill is much lower, the features are great and our limited interactions with customer support have been positive.

We use this service at our company and it seems to work just fine. Never had any issues with it and although I don't use many of the features that are available, the features that i do use work well.

Phone system for my business was down for two days. I was told I would get a call back. The phones finally started working but I never heard from anyone. This is a pattern. It happened again with a hardware failure on their end. They said "We'll call you to update you" but we never heard back. I have chronically slow internet service. Can't wait for my contract to end.

Have had this provider for 4 months and have scheduled training 3 times and no on has ever showed up. One of the phones has never rung the correct number and no one has corrected it. We never had an account manager and then found out he was promoted but was never issued another one until I called frustrated with the lack of service.

As a former flight attendant, I know how important it is to leave a good impression no matter who the customer is. I'm a small, small business owner, and yet I was treated with the best quality service, politeness, deference, and quality assistance even when there was a small problem with the initial shipment. The system is full featured and I'm mastering it one step at a time. We are on the brink of some exciting changes in the way we communicate, and as I am involved in the grassroots building for 2016 I'm going to need their services more than anything. I am ultimately very pleased with the service and no matter where I go in the next two years, MegaPath is going with me. That could be lots of places, so I am glad they are ready to accomodate me.

MegaPath has been a wonderful company to work with, their customer service is over the top and the price for their services is incredible.
#2 : Jared : DEC 2nd, 2014
The service is good. The actual VoIP connection took a little longer to get set up than I would have liked (roughly 15 days from the time I signed the contract), although they had warned that service could take up to 45 days to set up so they did over-deliver on their promise in that sense. Pros: good service, reliable, haven't had a problem with it yet. Cons: a little pricey, took a little while to get set up with them, and it was difficult to get any straight answers from my account manager when trying to get the service set up.

I was a happy Speakeasy customer even though it was a bit more expensive than other providers. The customer service and overall technical support were always top notch. Since the service moved to Megapath it went downhill and the customer service is not as good.
