Jabbertel Review by WhichVoIP

The Company

Jabber Telecommunications (referred to as Jabbertel on their website), founded in 2018 and headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, provides VoIP phone services to businesses across the USA. They provide service to any size business, small to large, and mention industries such as professional services, healthcare, education, real estate, financial services, construction, government, retail, and law.

The Good

There are three (3) main plans that appear to be on offer. The Essentials plan, the Standard plan, and the Premium plan. The Essentials plan is the lowest priced plan with the basic set of features. The subsequent plans increase in price and include additional features to justify the higher costs. We will look at each plan separately below.

The Essentials plan shows a price of $19.99/month per user. This plan is for businesses that have up to 10 users. The features listed for this plan include unlimited phone calls, toll free numbers, unlimited business SMS, call management and phone system administration, phone rental options, mobile Apps for iOS and Android, high definition voice, visual voicemail, voicemail to email, team collaboration, and integrations with Microsoft, Google, Box, and Okta.

The Standard plan (also referred to as the Pro plan on the website) is detailed as $24.99/month per user. It includes all the features noted for the Essentials plan above, plus multi-level auto attendant, Internet fax, call log reports, and quality of service reports.

The Premium plan (also referred to as the Enterprise plan on the website) is specified as $34.99/month per user. It includes everything detailed above for the Standard plan, plus automatic call recording, multi-site support, custom app development and deployment, single sign-on, and voicemail transcription.

You can sign up for any plan through their website. The first step is to choose a new number or enter existing numbers you would like to keep. Next you need to select which IP phones you would like, which included BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), Grandstream GRP2601P, 1782, 2135, 2170, HT801 (ATA), and Yealink T27G, T29G, T46G, T48S, T58A, and W60P (DECT wireless system) models. They also have a couple of conference phone options from Grandstream and Yealink.

Next up during sign up is the option to select certain features as add-ons. This list allows you to add call recording for $4.99, encryption for $4.99, Internet fax for $9.99, video collaboration for $12.99, and additional DECT wireless handsets if you selected the DECT wireless phone system. Once you have completed yor selections you can create an account and proceed to sign up.

Jabbertel are open 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. They provide email support on Saturday and Sunday, as well as emergency support 24/7/365. There is a local number and a toll free number available on their website. You can also fill in a form to contact them or for asking questions. There is also a customer help section available from their website with useful how-to guides. You can also submit a ticket from here.

You can select separate services from Jabbertel also. The options include JabberTel Meetings (online team meetings), JabberTel Team (team messaging, file sharing, managing tasks etc.), JabberTel Professional (have your own business inbound toll free or local number to ring any of your existing devices), and JabberTel Fax (online faxing system). They can also provide call center solutions.

Jabbertel offer a free demo option so you can experience their system first hand. Plans are available as month to month or you can sign a 36 month deal and get lower pricing.

The Bad

Their website appeared to be very slow when we were researching their services, which does not fill you with a lot of confidence. Be prepared to wait while web pages load.

The website mentions the option to rent/lease IP phones but the online sign up form only showed the option to buy phones. If leasing is something you are interested in then suggest giving them a call to verify.

There is a note in the Terms and Conditions that states that Jabbertel may use new or reconditioned equipment.

The Terms and Conditions also note that the "customer shall coordinate and provide their own solution for Emergency 911 and Directory Assistance at their sole expense. JabberTel is not responsible for providing this service and strongly urges the Customer to seek a safe and appropriate solution.". This is a little surprising as most VoIP providers include E911 service.

The Bottom Line

  • Essentials plan is $19.99/month per user.
  • Standard plan is $24.99/month per user and adds Internet fax and reports on top of Essential plan.
  • Premium plan is $34.99/month per user and adds call recording, voicemail transcription, and conference bridging.
  • IP phones available include Grandstream and Yealink models.
  • Free demo available.
  • Separate services available such as Fax, Messaging, and Meetings.

Overall Thoughts

Jabbertel offers some cost competitive VoIP phone service plans for businesses with a solid feature set, including standard VoIP features as well as conferencing, fax, and messaging features.
