Callifi Review by WhichVoIP

The Company

Callifi, founded in 2016 and headquarted in New York, provide VoIP phone services to small and medium sized businesses in the 1 to 500 employee range. Two brothers, Gilad and Sasson Abada, with decades of experience in the VoIP and telecoms industry are the co-founders.

The Good

Callifi provide small to medium sized businesses in the New York area with VoIP phone and Internet Fax services. On their website they state 100% uptime, less than 5 minutes for ticket resolution (we assume this is average), and less than 3 rings for the time that service calls are answered. This is very impressive and aligns with their claims of being very customer service focused.

They mention being priced for the small and built for the big but there is no pricing information provided for the phone service. You will have to contact them directly to get pricing. This is often a good thing as some providers will customize based on your exact needs and may provide some price breaks based on usage.

You can take your office wherever you go with their desk phone, computer and mobile solutions. They recently added a smartphone softphone App in 2020 to help with the work from home movement due to COVID-19 stay at home orders. They can supply phone numbers from across the country in any USA jurisdiction as well as toll free numbers. Other features noted are intelligent call routing, find me/follow me, call forwarding, call park, voicemail to email, conferencing, and security features like encryption, destination restrictions, and real-time traffic monitoring.

As mentioned they focus heavily on customer support, providing white glove service and support. That includes initial system analysis, configuring your PBX, setting up your call flows, phone installation and onsite onboarding. You can contact them directly using their toll free number or via their support email address. Their business hours are 8:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday but they do have emergency support local numbers to call if needed for New York, New Jersey, Conneticut, Hudson Valley and Westchester.

They have three (3) Internet fax plans to choose from. All are HIPAA and SOC 2 compliant. The basic package is $15 per month and includes 200 pages/month, 1 phone number, and 1 user. The Pro plan costs $36/month and includes 500 pages/month, 1 phone number and up to 5 users. The Plus plan costs $60/month and includes 1000 pages/month, 1 phone number and up to 10 users. For all plans you can add additional numbers for $5 each/month and additional pages over your allocated amount costs $0.08 per page. There is a $25 one time setup fee for all plans. The Pro and Plus plans allow additional users to be added for $4/user/month. You can also use a fax adapter with the Pro and Plus plans, which allows the use of a hardware fax machine. Each plan includes plenty of features such as fax to email, email to fax, fax portal, fax from computer, fax from mobile, custom fax templates, scheduling outbound faxes, fax to multiple destinations simultaneously, fax notifications and more.

They support a large selection of IP phones from multiple manufacturers including Cisco, Polycom, Yealink, Grandstream, and Snom. This provides lots of options and is unusual. There is no pricing included for each phone but the assumption is that they do sell IP phones as part of their service.

The Bad

There are no terms of service on the website. This is where most providers include some form of Acceptable Use Policy regarding usage of minutes. We always recommend reading ToS before signing up.

There is no pricing information on their website for their VoIP phone services or IP phones. You have to contact them directly to get any pricing for comparisons.

There appears to be no knowledgebase or user guides available on the website. There is also no link to a user login but we assume this will be provided following signup.

By providing onsite onboarding and phone installation they are most likley limited to supporting businesses in the New York area only.

The Bottom Line

  • VoIP phone service targeting small to medium sized businesses in the New York area.
  • Hands on customer support including phone installation and onsite onboarding
  • Large selection of IP phones supported, including Cisco, Polycom, Yealink, Grandstream and Snom.
  • Internet fax service plans for $15/month (200 pages), $36/month (500 pages) and $60/month (1000 pages). Fax service is HIPAA and SOC 2 compliant.

Overall Thoughts

It is difficult to provide an overall recommendation on this service as there is no pricng information available. However, if you live in the New York area and have concerns about self installation of IP phones then you should at least give these guys a call to understand their pricing structure.

If you have existing PBX equipment on site they have a background in the Telecoms industry so may be able to suggest a good migration path for you. Also, if you need HIPAA compliant Internet Fax (for example the healthcare industry) their services may be of interest.
