I got VOIP.COM service after Sunrocket went under. I selected VOIP.COM because of the
low cost, their support for the 911 emergency number and the reviews at the time. Initially we
had some issues when incoming callers could not hear us sometimes. I had to reset the
system about once a week by unplugging power for two minutes. During March apparently
they made an upgrade of their system and the service down for about two days. But since
then their service has been really good. Voice quality is perfect and we have had no
problems. I can't comment on Customer Service much. But I have not had any reason to
contact them. I had contacted them by email once and got a fairly fast response by email.
Great value for the price. I have seen a lot of bad reviews about Vonage also, which is 50%
more expensive (on annual rate), that says something about the efficiency of a company.
I went to Voip.com when Sunrocket went boom. The service has been mediocre at best. Sound
quality is often poor and features like sim ring and email notification frequently stop
working. On the other hand, if you're looking for customer service on weekends...forget
it! They only do cs via a forum and the forum is monitored m-f business hours only.
Apparently, they're spending all the money that would go to customer service on shill
review sites that list them as 5 star best buys. On true review sites, Voip.com reviews
have dropped over the past year like they fell off a cliff. Sunrocket was better on their
worst day and might still be better now, 1 year after going out of business. Avoid
Voip.com, Sunrocket needs company in VOIP oblivion!
The service is sketchy. I spent $200 to get a special
VoIP enabled router to prioritize my
VoIP packets but the voip.com services are still on-and off.
Random problems come up all the time. Line cut off. incoming calls directed to voicemail.
Calls dropped.
Worse, customer service is slow and obnoxious. Users on the forum constantly complain that
their needs go unmet for weeks. The moderators just tell users things are working and its
their fault.
voip.com is the low dollar provider, but it really costs.
Stay away from this company!! They have horrible customer service because they don't let
you talk to anyone, they just refer you to their forums where you post your problem. If you
need help with their instructions on what to do to fix your problem you have to post again and
wait for a reply. I'd rather have someone on the phone giving me instructions as I go along in
case something doesn't work. There are other various problems with your phone you might or
might not encounter such as your phone not recognizing touchtone responses, and lots of
times my callers would tell me that they got a message that my phone was disconnected. It
was just a mess and I was sorry I switched over to them to save a buck. You get what you
pay for.
had a very bad experience with this company.
I would not recommend this company at all.
They have a hidden 1 year contract agreement. be careful about it. if you cancel before one
year period you will be charged and also for the equipment if you don't return they will charge
you. I cancelled it as I did not like their features and even quality of service, customer support.
Stay away from this company at all costs!! I have had nothing but terrible quality telephone
service since I changed from Vonage. I wish I had never changed. ( I changed to get a local
number) Can't call out half the time. Rarely can get a call in. Calls almost
always routed to
voicemail. Poor sound quality. No dial tone. Constantly having to reset Adapter. Basically
impossible to get through to a human being. Last call I tried to make to them- I stayed on
hold 59 minutes, then was cut off. Oh, and not to mention disagreeable practices. And when
you have finally had enough and switch to another provider, they find multiple ways to stick it
to you before you can finally be rid of them... Just stay away..and save yourself a lot of
cruddy phone service and grief.
Avoid like the plague. I am serious, I cannot
receive calls half the time, the phone rings and
you have to say hello 6 times before people can hear you. If I pick up the phone other times,
there is dead air. I have been with this company for about a year and a half, their service has
steadily gotten worse over that time. Customer service is horrible, they put you on hold, then
come back and tell you that you need to check the website. You cannot ask for a worse
company. The enhanced 911 service does not configure to my home address, it tells me that
there is no such address (funny my house is over 50 years old, and the address is also)! I
switched from vonage to save a few bucks..... What's the point of saving if you cant use the
service? This company should and probably will close their doors within a few months. Save
yourself the headache and frustration, don't bother with this company.
Sunrocket->Teleblend->VOIP.com. So, I've had nearly 3 years of experience and irritation.
Sunrocket was initially awful, they got their act together & were excellent, and then
instant death. I canceled Teleblend after a few weeks. (I think ViaTalk may have been in
there after Teleblend)
VOIP.com was pretty bad when I enrolled (9/07) but now things seem to be coming together.
Voice quality is mostly excellent (their notorious delay problem seems to have been fixed)
& I've had no billing problems. Their customer service (& forum) is bad.
(I gave up trying to use their Linksys adapter-- it didn't get along with my router. So I
reconfigured the Innomedia (Sunrocket) ATA and have: cable modem->Inno->router. Works fine)
Bottom line is I'm satisfied with VOIP.com. It's a good deal. But it ain't for the faint of
heart. You're on your own-- expect bad/no customer service.
VOIP.COM company is really fraud. Their service is worst. There is no direct customer call
service. Phone service redirects you to voip.com. They tell you about money back
guarantee..
but they do not.. As soon as you cancel.. they will charge you $39.95 as cancellation
charges..
I felt that and I want you all to stop using that.. I never got my money back.. and I hope you
never come to such situation..
Thanks..
This company is to be avoided at ALL COSTS. They promise a 30 day satisfaction money
back guarantee. Well they couldn't port my number, so I called to cancel (their CS SUCKS).
They said I could ONLY cancel on their website. That was bad enough, but when I tried to
cancel they said they are charging my a termination fee only 18 days into their SO
CALLED "30 day MONEY BACK GUARANTEE" - So I had to called my Mastercard Bank
and keep them from making further charges (which meant I had to cancel my card and wait 1-
2 weeks for a new one). THEN when I did cancel they charged me $41 dollars and change
AND NO MONEY BACK AT ALL!!! SO, I am out $35 PLUS return shipping of their VOIP
modem (another 10 bucks) to avoid a $65 charge - AND THEY STILL WANT TO CHARGE ME
ANOTHER $42 - ALL WITHIN THE FIRST 30 DAYS!!! REPEAT AVOID THIS SCAMMERS AT
ALL COST!!!!!
Don't bother with reading to much into the consumer ratings here. Save your time and find
another provider. I have been dealing with VOIP for over 6 months. I am totally
dissatisfied.
Pitiful customer service and problems constantly. Even at $24 monthly it's not worth it if you
can't utilize the service. BBB hits in florida as well. Summary; RUN AWAY AND RUN FAST!!
I'm sick of it. Probably being voip.com
customer was the worst experience in my life with any
service (if you can call it service!) To begin with it took "only" about a month to receive an
adapter. They said they were out of stock. Was it hard to mention when I signed up?
Sound quality was bad from the beginning. But I still was willing to work with voip tech
support. What support?
None of my emails were returned. Only once their rep was able to do something and it
stopped working right after I hung up.
For more than a week now I can't receive any (ANY!!!) incoming calls. And they tell me I need
to reset my adapter over and over again?
I need another service - that's for sure!
You know what was the real kicker? My father in law got into the hospital in a critical
condition and passed away a week after that. And nobody could reach me or my
wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you even think about signing up to voip.com - don't do it! Save yourself money and time, find
another provider.
The best description: RIPOFF!
It's now Feb 2008 - In summer/fall of 2007 VOIP was great, with very few outages.
Now, since about the beginning of the year, I have had all sorts of problems. Basically,
you make a call and nothing happens. I put a fan on the Linksys adapter and it seems to
help a lot.
Now, I get all sorts of complaints about incoming calls - e.g. it rings, no one is there,
turns out they get diverted to voicemail. They call again, call comes through, and then
after e.g. a minute, it drops off. Third time everything is fine. Also get complaints of
lots of beeping from callers, which I don't hear.
Voip cust suppt is non-existent except via forum. They promised to send me a new adapter
that I should receive within 5-7 biz days, it is twice that and nothing has happened except
3 emails saying it was sent.
Now, the forums have disappeared - cant find the server. If you call 800-try-voip as if
a new customer, call won't go through, get nothing except circuit busy or busy. Calls to
other numbers, be they local or across the country seem to work most of the time
And get this - for the last 3-4 days, voip's cust support forums have disappeared. My
guess is they have or are in the process of going under / out of biz. Obviously, they are
a reseller of services. I'm going to switch to Vonage for the time being. I also have
skype as a backup for outgoing calls, and look forward to having a direct skype phone
(plugs into router), as well as a third 911 only cellphone for the house, we have one in
each car.
And if Vonage doesn't work out reliably (my comcast internet service is quite reliable, and
I have a UPS to run the equipment needed to keep the phone equipment up, I may just bend
over and say to verizon - I'm yours, though I would use Skype phone outgoing for most LD
calls.
Oh isn't the challenge of being an early adopter great in the tech biz
Stay away from this provider. Way too much dead air time before connections and too
many "not connecting" or "number not answering" calls. Caller id got blocked and I couldn't
make calls to phones that have anonymous call rejection. VOIP.COM could not get my
caller id unblocked. Their customer service is by a forum and its a horrible mess. They just
recommend that you reboot your system.
