Ringio Review by WhichVoIP

Businesses using VoIP have seen a sharp upward trend in the adoption of solutions that integrate with other applications. Service providers, like Ringio, have recognized this trend and developed solutions to cater to these needs. Ringio provides hosted solutions for businesses at different pricing tiers depending on the number of PBX features you require.

The Good

All pricing is based on the amount of extensions (or users) needed for a given company, regardless of physical location. Any plan selected comes with 30 core features and most package this with unlimited calling to the US and Canada. Some of the core features include intelligent routing, call blasting (i.e a call to a designated group where the first to answer takes the call), mobile forwarding, auto attendant functions and much more.

The Basic plan includes the 30 core features, plus unlimited local and long distance calling, and starts at $25 per month per user. The next step is the Pro plan at $35 per month per user and adds a few very powerful features such as integration of various CRM systems (i.e. Salesforce, Wufoo, Zoho), call analytics with reporting capabilities and call recording.

The most rich feature set comes with the Premium plan for $55 per month per user. The added benefits with this plan include queuing, an extended feature set for real time manipulation of call queues, a built-in CRM and the Power Dialer which enhances productivity for lead generation and business development.

Mixing and matching plans is possible, meaning a business can select several Basic plans and a couple of Premium plans for a blend of service possibilities based on user needs. Users have the option to use a mobile device or a computer as a softphone, alleviating some hardware costs.

A 14 day, no obligation trial is available for companies to assess the service. This trial period includes unlimited features and 100 free minutes of phone time.

The Bad

Potential buyers should be aware of a few small print items. At least 2 users are required for any given installation though this is a standard for most business-class services. At least 10 users are required for contract pricing, which ultimately will save you money but of course lock you into a contract.

Ringio will associate a mobile user with a regular user. However, a unique mobile user may be subjected to an additional fee.

In terms of support, the Basic plan only has email support, which is a little disappointing considering the price. The Pro plan has email plus phone support and the Premium plan has a dedicated account manager and priority support. On the plus side, Ringio has a decent knowledgebase on their website, covering CRM integration, feature configuration examples, firewall guides, tips and tricks and many video tutorials.

From a market perspective, the Premium plan price lands on the higher end of the spectrum. Such accounts are also subject to choosing between metered pricing at a market standard rate or paying another $39 per month. The pricing of this plan makes some service models subject to extra fees though it will be quite minimal when combined with Basic and Pro users. This is an expensive plan!

The Bottom Line

  • Three clear-cut pricing tiers for users with different calling needs. Basic plan at $25, the Pro plan for $35 a and a Premium plan running at $55, all per month per user.
  • More than 30 standard PBX features included with any plan.
  • A 14 day, no commitment trial is available for new users and includes access to all features and 100 free minutes.
  • Premium pricing is very high, including additional costs when using a metered calling plan.
  • At least 2 users are necessary to start service with Ringio and a minimum of 10 is required for contract pricing.
  • Advanced CRM options for popular systems like Salesforce, Zoho, Highrise & Batchbook, Wufoo plus an API for custom integrations.

Overall Thoughts

Ringio may be relatively new to the VoIP market but services are well constructed and have a rich productivity enhancing feature set. One of the most popular features for a VoIP phone service today is a tie-in with CRM systems. Not only does the company offer tools for popular platforms but it also offers an API so others can utilize less popular or custom systems with the phone service.

A few small print items are in effect for some parts of the service, so always read the terms and conditions. However, companies can mix different tiers of service for an optimal communication system tailored to meet their budget.

I like the Ringio system because of the Zoho integration and the ability to mix plans across my company. However, when you move away from the basic service, it quickly adds up from a cost standpoint. Also email support only for a basic plan, really guys?
