I have had little or no problem with this service. Only problem I have had is few call
disconnects and few busy tones. But once I reset the router it would work fine. I would not spend 10 bucks more for the same service provided by Vonage. Zingotel has been very reasonable for the price. I do have some problems with the customer Service. But its a small growing company charging you less. They will improve their service. I have almost similar features as Vonage offers for a better price. Save your money keep it inside your wallet.
Great features...voice mails are sent to your email address with an attached .WAV file. Lots
of features. Call forward, ID, POT to Gateway calling. I use DSL so I am able to have a second phone number in the house. I can still make 911 on the old DSL line if necessary, receive calls on the old DSL while still dialing out on the VOIP. The Sipura 3000 easily integrates both the DSL POT and the VOIP allowing you to use any phone in the house to receive both VOIP and DSL incoming and outgoing calls. WAY COOL and a bargain @ 14.95. Customer service is friendly. Hey and they're in Florida and Iowa and not India for a change. COOL little company highly recommend them.
Had problems with the hardware not working, customer service responded within the hour.
Weren't able to figure out the problem though (no dial tone). Continue to use the service with the softphone which is good enough for my needs. Added the cheap toll-free option as well. Sound quality is good enough--about equal to cellphone. In fact, I dropped my cellphone for this service, and will end up paying 1/2 what I was before.
I ordered my Zingotel Service on Monday 4/10/06. The Voip adapter was by Wednesday 4/12/06. It took me all of 10 min to fully set everything up. I subscribed to the service as a home line due to cell phone unreliability in my home and so far, after just one evening of using
it, I quite impressed. I've made multiple calls to friends and family, and no one could tell I wasn't on a landline. The sound quality is MUCH better than my cell phone and almost up to par with a traditional landline. For the price I can't ask for more. I figure I get 2 free months to try it out and if the service goes downhill from here I'm only out the 30 bucks it cost for the set up/shipping and handling. If you're looking for a low cost phone to use at home and don't want to pay the phone/cable companies your first born child for unlimited calling anywhere in the US and Canada, definitely give it a shot. I'll re-post after a few months with any updates good or bad regarding the service.
Today the phone is ringing every frequently. Last time they said 'server problems' Support people don't have answers. I have to check for dial tone frequently. Had Sunrocket before but they were unable to transfer my number. Much better service and doesn't cost that much more.
This service has to be the BEST out there,
I never had a problem with this service, the people here that blame Zingotel about call quality better check their bandwidth with their ISP. I have 2 servers running all the time and my phone service is WAY better than regular phone. I have friends that had
Vonage and the quality was just ok but their customer service sucked big time.
I spoke with tech support at Zingotel and the guy told me that they changed the tech support people and you can tell the difference now they make feel like a valued customer. Zingotel ROCKS.
No issues. This is an infrequently-used second line for the days when I telecommute. I've used e-mail tech support, then received a phone call back due to my specific question. No problems. Sound quality is good, not quite as good as PSTN but certainly better than cellular.
Well...being a tech, I haven't had to use Customer Service. The sound quality is better
than land lines that I have used. A lot of people don't realize that if they have tons of malware on their PC(s) flooding their LAN with packets, etc...it will affect your bandwidth. So try cleaning your machine & getting a good firewall before you assume that it's a VoIP provider's network problem. I can't account for getting cut off or anything like that. I've had no service interruptions. Great sound quality, Great connection, Great price. I'd recommend Zingotel to anyone...in fact, I have been. Dump your POTS service, stick it to the PSTN's.
Well, I was initially going to go with Vonage, but Zingotel had a 3 month free trial, with
but an activation fee, and no obligation. So I used them based on that, hoping for the best. The sound quality was usually pretty bad, worse than cell most times, and sometimes, even with the cable working perfectly fine, people would call in, and could not hear me, I could not hear them, sound choppy, etc... The final straw was when they cut my phone off with no email or explanation. I would call, say that when I tried to make an outgoing call, it said that I had no credit left on the account. They would then turn it back on, and the same thing the next day would happen. This went on for about 5 days, until I finally spoke
with someone who said I was using the phone too much, and they had shut it off. I thought the service was unlimited, as advertised, and then asked what the minute limit was. He said there was no limit, but that I had gone over. I did not understand, how can I go over a limit when I have no way to know when I have exceeded it, and no information to know that I have exceeded but for my phone being shut off? He could not really answer that, and said that it looked like I was using it for business. I don't. I call (rather,
my girlfriend calls) about 4 different people on this phone. That's why I got it. For long distance. So he suggested I go with a business account. How much is that? I ask. $49.95 per month. At
which point, I cancel my service, and am using Vonage now. Vonage has fantastic sound quality so far compared to Zingotel, sounds like an actual phone, btw. Bottom line, Zingotel is not unlimited. If they feel you are using the phone to much, you are. There are no guidelines for you to adhere to. If you use it to much, they will shut it off, and force you to either cancel, or upgrade. The positive thing was they did not hassle me about cancelling, and sending their equipment back with an RMA was pretty easy. Guess you get what you pay for, about $10 cheaper than Vonage per month after the free trial. Trust me, Vonage is worth the extra money, just on sound quality alone. Try Zingotel, give the free 3 month trial a go, maybe it's for you. Just not for me, or anyone who talks more than 3000 minutes per month on the phone. my 2 cents
So far i have had the service over a month and it pretty much goes down everyday. When you
call customer service they are pretty much worthless. All they do is log a call and tell you they will work on it. They took 1 month to cancel the fax line I initially ordered. The price is right but I think for the service you get go ahead and spend 5 more for another plan. Oh plus its 10 digit dialing even for local.
I initially joined ZingoTel because their rates were lower than other providers such as Kodiac Networks and Vonage. However, the reason for the lower rate is because of their lack of customer service, knowledge, and VoIP features. Ever since install, we would hear beeping
such as someone was trying to dial out. Customer service here is a joke and when asking to speak with a manager they are always “not available”. Finally, I spoke with a manager by the name of Gene which was helpful but unable to resolve my problem. Outages are also sporadic on the ZingoTel network where we would lose our family member and not be able to dial out for 1 hour. We have a dedicated Internet line to the location and have no problem with bandwidth or latency. When activating Kodiac Communications back and testing side by side with ZingoTel there was a huge difference. For just a few more dollars, you get extra features, reliable phone service (without the noise), and exceptional customer service. I would advise everyone that “you get what you pay for”.
I am saving quite a bit of money with this service and that makes me happy. The company appears quite small and new, the customer service and support by email is very slow (2-3
days), but what's worse is by phone. I called to get support because my VoIP Modem needed reset (which I didn't know) I called, waited on hold for 26 minutes to get a girl who sounded rather young, and had know idea how to help me. I found the answer on their website support site after a lot of searching. I would recommend it if saving money is more important than immediate support, it was to me.
Customer service must have improved because the few times I have called I've received quick
and satisfactory responses. I'm VERY HAPPY with this service. I was skeptical of VoIP, but thought of giving it a try, particularly since I will be telecommuting from two cities, Now I love it. I can truly take my office with me, I've tried it here in the US and in Mexico and in both places it works great. Sound quality from 1 to 5, where 1 is cellphone call and 5 your normal house phone to house phone call would be a 4, with no noticeable delay. Which is just fine for $14 or so a month. I will be ordering a second phone from the same company, I just hope service quality stays at this level. They did take about 1 week to fulfill my order, they must be selling like crazy.
