Reviewers Comments: I joined Vonics when Sunrocket went under in the summer of 2007, based in part of glowing
user reviews on sites like this. Unfortunately, I found out too late that most of those
reports were written by Vonics employees!
Customer service was very responsive when I wanted to start an account and activate my
service, but once I was using their service they were impossible to contact. When it
worked, my connection was clear with no echo. The problem is, it didn't work reliably very
often. Although outgoing calls usually worked well, incoming calls were typically lost.
Their website services do not function reliably. Voice mail was erratic, with no "message
waiting" indicator most of the time. My voice mail greeting was lost long ago, and I could
not record a new one. I tried to forward all my calls to my new number, but their call
forwarding system drops the call or you get a "we cannot complete your call as dialed"
message. The service was frequently "out" in last few months I was trying to use it, and
only once did I receive any notification from Vonics about a problem--and that was an email
message days after the outage began.
After almost a year of frustration I decided to go with another company, but was unable to
contact Vonics about how to cancel my account. Five emails and three on-line "Contact Us"
forms went unanswered. I got through via telephone once and was told that I can only cancel
"in writing" such as via email. I said I tried several times and the operator told me to
forward a copy to his own company email address, which I did, still with no response at
all. I'm waiting to see if they try charging my credit card for another year without my
authorization.
VOIP is a great idea and can save you a lot of money on telephone service, unfortunately,
there are many poorly run providers out there who will take your money without delivering
decent service or support. Vonics is among the top of that list! |
