Vonage does not respond to email/web requests for customer service. The quality of the service is ok; some
weird things happen now & then that are annoyances but not usually serious. Getting customer service to
respond has been the biggest problem. After several months, they still haven't gotten my number transferred.
I have only had the VOIP up and running for 2 days do far. All has been great. Calls sound
almost as clear on a land line. Sometimes at the internet phone side you may hear a faint
delay. I had to call customer service 2 times (india) but they did pick up after about 2minutes.
Calls were placed at about 8 pm so that might have helped. My problem was my old analog
phone I pulled from the basement was not working. Other than that a super easy installation.
Everything seems to work and sound great so far. I would refer a friend to this service.
Good luck to all...
I have had Vonage for over two years. ISP is Comcast. The vonage service is very reliable. I
cant remember my phone service being down in the last 6 months. I have a Vonage 800 number so my traveling wife can call me easily it has been great. Voange is my only home
phone but I do have a cell. My wife and kids who don't know anything about VOIP thinks
everything is great. Believe me my family would not put up with no dial tone. They would
demand that I change to QWEST if we had service issues but we have none. My wife worked on a four month project in Ohio I got a virtual number through Vonage and
she called me everyday by placing a local call in OHIO. Her co workers could not believe
that she could pick up a phone in OHIO and place a local call to me in Seattle but she did
and it worked great.
The only issue I have with Vonage is they do not have the call block feature like
SUNROCKET does. I want that feature so I can place some numbers on a do not accept
call list. I have even considered moving to SUNROCKET to get that feature but I worry that the service
will not be as stable as Vonage has been for me.
The other thing I should mention is this. I have one of the older motorola vonage box's that I
received when I orderd my account in NOV 2003. I place the motorola box as the first
device off my cable modem. When I plugged the motorola box in to my Linksys I had
sound issues on my calls. Once I plugged the motorola box straight in to the cable modem
all was good with sound quality on the calls.
I really recomend Vonage it has saved me hundreds of dollars in toll calls and tax's ect.
on my phone bill. I used to get a QWEST bill for 150 a month because my wife used so
much LD now my phone bill is always around 30 bucks because I have unlimited plus a 800
number.
GO Vonage but you better get call reject call blocking or I may move to
SUNROCKET.
You get your money's worth for such a low price... With Vonage, you are definitely getting a
great deal. I couldn't believe how much money I save with this VoIP. Thanks to Vonage and I
strongly recommend getting VONAGE to those people out there who are getting a broadband
service.
After two months of service constantly and consistantly going out and no one ever
answering customer service I cancelled. Vonage responded by refusing to allow me to
cancel and by making eight unauthorized charges on my credit card. I had to report my card
as lost and get a new one to quit Vonage. Vonage is a complete fraud.
Wow, I mean talk about horrible connections. My internet is solid, I
run services off it and have almost zero downtime but Vonage is
always having issues. Conversations are one-way, much like a
walkie-talkie or old analogue cell phones. We miss up to 65% of our
phone calls, completely unexplained, just never get a ring. When we
do decide to make use of features such as call forwarding they mess
up horribly.
Service is great when everything is operational. Most of the time it
is operational so far. It is a great money saver. Customer service
is either good or bad depending on your luck when contacting them
for question or concerns.
They never take responsibility for their QOS issues. The finger of
blame is always pointed to the ISP. Where as this may be true some
of the time, I checked their SIP servers for latency via test tools.
When my VOIP service had issues with latency they were synonymous
with their Sip server. They need to spend more money on their
network and less on marketing. Take care of the customers you have
VONAGE.
I'm fed up with Vonage after 5 months of service. I'm in upstate
New York and have experienced several outages due to Vonage. There
are times when I get a dial tone but then here a recording that all
circuits are busy, or a fast busy signal or another recording that
there is a known issue and they (Vonage) are working to fix it. A
very sly practice of Vonage is when there is a known outage you
won't know about it unless you log into your account on their
webpage. There is no front page announcement to tell everyone there
is an outage. Obviously this would be corporate suicide because
Vonage has constant outages. The voice quality is severely lacking,
people whom I talk to on the phone tell me they here beeping which I
cannot here, echo's and choppy quality.
I thought that Vonage was really my only choice but after doing some
research I can see now that there are TONS of alternatives and quite
a few with much better ratings and features offered than Vonage.
Vonage may have the money into their marketing campaign but they had
better invest in better service or they will lose their customers to
the competition.
Testing various VoIP services, vonage is the worst so far. Great
value for the price but so far ATT CallVantage has best sound
quality and up time. So far I would recommend ATT CallVantage.
I was concerned about how it would affect my Tivo and alarm system
but everything worked fine right out of the box. I wired a Linksys
PAP2 in place of my main phone line and the whole house is now hard
wired with the Vonage service. Without broadband saver, I had a
disconnect while up loading several large files. I turned on the
broadband saver to help minimize the problem but my Tivo couldn't
dial out with it on. I set up Tivo to dial *99 before it dials out
which turns off the broadband saver and now Tivo works fine. I
haven't tried it with the alarm system yet. All in all, I'm very
happy. It may not work for everyone but it's worth trying.
Hi, we are Vonage and are proud to announce we are an American
company based right here in Edison, NJ. Don't mind the fact that we
refuse to hire our own. We prefer to send our good earned cash to
India so they can live our dream, the American dream. The truth of
the matter is, unlike Americans who need jobs too, Indians will work
a 16 hour day for a bowl of rice and a glass of milk while the
greedy poor Americans looking for a job insist on minimum wage.
Thank you for using Vonage.
Nobody at Customer service speaks English. They read from a book.
The reps in the US are morons to and could care less. One guy
actually told me "[Vonage] doesn't mind if there customers try a
different VoIP company because they know the customer wont come back
to bother [them]."
The quality is dirt. Delay no matter how low the bandwidth saver is
set too!!!!
Said up front that they could port my number, then after 10 days or
so said that they could not port my number. Customer service is
terrible. I am still waiting for a refund that I should have
received by now. Instead of Vonage try SunRocket instead, the
customer service is much more helpful and friendly, you get two free
uniden cordless phones when you sign up and you can get unlimited
service for 199.00 a year everything included!
I ordered Vonage and it wouldn't work. Their customer service was
very poor, we talked to several reps but every time they would just
tell us to unplug our phone adapter and re-plug it in. After a week
we finally talked to a rep who fixed the phone, we could dial and
talk but the quality was very poor, the next morning we had no
service again, only dead air. The one rep who was able to fix the
phone said that it was a glich in their system, not our internet or
adapter. When we called back to have it fixed again we got more
incompetent reps who told us time after time to unplug and plug in
our phone adapter. Experience was very frustrating.
Ordered and received RT.... router very quickly. First one was a
dud. Second one came quickly, but could not get it to work, despite
40 minutes with CS. CS hold times averaged more than 1.5 hours!!
Order line was answered in less than 10 seconds, CS lines sometimes
busy for hours on end. No support, no help, never got a dial tone
period, after more than 6 hours total trying to make it work on a
cable modem line. Waiting for Comcast to come out with VOIP. Don't
complain on the "forum" site, they will ban you for life with no
help again!! STAY AWAY FROM VONAGE, ITS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. They
are only interested in short term money, not long term customers.
Predict an Enron-type collapse next year the latest.
After first month service stopped working for anything longer than
10 minutes, talked to 6-8 tech no real solutions. I finally
cancelled after 5 months of getting account credits and runaround.
