This a good company that provides excellent deals and by far the best calling features.
once I called tech support because I wanted to set up my home network and they not only
helped with the phone but walked me through the entire process of network building. Thank
you! Now that SunRocket is also in trouble (just fired 25% of its workforce including
executives) voip.com seems to be the strongest company in the industry. I can honestly
recommend using them.
Truly similar to all of other negative reviews, regardless of what else technical
problems you have had or can have from this company, their customer service is terribly
bad. Especially, just similar to some other experience review posted here, we had to
disagree with them charging us cancellation fee after we could not stand the quality any
more and decided to cancel the service after all the technical problems. In addition to
their other problems, being charged of the cancellation while not getting good quality just
does not make any sense, unless they attempt to fool others by saying the technical
problems are at customers' fault. The first agent, Rob, we talked to was understanding but
had no power to waive the unreasonable cancellation fee. We were transferred to a person
named Maria, who possibly is a supervisor but it does not matter. She is awful, and even
claimed she would be more than willing to be charged of any fee if she were a customer and
experienced technical difficulties with a VOIP provider. And she still kept insisting to
rob the fee from our pocket. We did not yet even argue with her about the monthly usage fee
which we did not really use much because of their problem. You can imagine their real
problems even though you have not been a customer. Good for the few people who had not
these bad experiences with them, supposing those were somehow real, instead of signed by
their own employees. But there are good reasons why you find a bunch of negative reviews
for their quality.
had vonage sound quality was very bad kept calling customer support but never helped.
with voip.com it was easy to set up and phone sounds like I'm using land line phone. I'm very satisfied!!! I would greatly recommend voip.com. I used this site to read reviews and that was the reason I chose voip.com. thanks.
I decided to give it a shot and try an internet phone service kind of out of curiosity. Based on
my research and all I signed up with Voip.com in April. Seems like I did a good research
because the service is excellent!!! Good quality and no phone bills (I prepaid for the year). I
called customer service once to check on my number transfer and I was on hold for almost 10
minutes - that's my only negative experience with them but it's not a biggie :) So if you are
shopping for a good phone service I recommend Voip.com. Cheers.
Their phone adaptor started to give a lot of technical problem after the first month of the
free trial (What a good timing!). The major problems include:
* internet connection gets disconnected from time to time by itself, and the cables are
still plugged in well.
* I hardly do downloading large files (by "large" I even meant larger than 1M only), with
or without the installment of the voip.com phone adaptor. But even for normal website
browsing, whenever I have that adaptor connected, very often the speed is obviously
delayed, or the web pages just did not come up until I close it and tried to re-connect later.
* Especially a few weeks before I decided to cancel the service, every phone call
(incoming or outgoing) lost voices completely or got dropped within half or at most 1 minute.
For any customer who experiences all these, would you want to keep on using it? I still
requested for technical support and waited for a working solution. But all I received is
just something you can even think of and try on your own without their "advices" which
they possibly type and send to you from a textbook or something.
I can try to see that maybe this situation is just occasional, and their configuration or
adaptor quality just needs to be fixed. But if you have this experience and wait a long
time but still do not have a working solution, will you let them keep charging you of the
monthly fee? For normal people, I guess not. So I decided to cancel the service. But they
still charged me of the cancellation fee even when the decision was because of not
receiving a good service quality.
I tried to reason with them, and even brought up their own terms of service saying if the
termination is not at the customer's fault, then the customer should not be responsible for
the cancellation fee. But they could only say the system must automatically charge the
customer of the cancellation fee, and there is nobody who can remove that at all, and
meanwhile claiming they still had signals sent through my phone line, so the phone line
must have been working perfectly.
Are they trying to be funny? A few signal packet sending attempt records on the internet
really means the voip phone line are working well? Funny.
And not to mention the phone calls lost voices completely or dropped in about half a
minute. Of course one can see the phone record of the calls. But how often do you finish a
phone call within 30 seconds? And every phone call? Does every phone call having to stop
within 1 minute (the basic unit, it would be smaller if they count in seconds) not give you
any common sense at all of the phone line quality problem?
You do not need to experience the phone adaptor problem yourself to get the whole picture
of the possible problems. And importantly, the problems started after the first month free
trial. Voip.com is good at timing, right? What will a customer know about the service
quality when he or she understands about this experience with a provider, Voip.com in this
case? You have the answer.
I signed up for Voip.com because I was having problems with Vonage that they couldn't seem
to fix. I ordered on-line and when the router came, the installation instructions were for a Linksys model other than the one they shipped me. It took three calls to tech support to get an answer. They couldn't decide if it went between my DSL modem and my home network
router or if it went behind the home network router. At first I was pleased with the service but after a few days I noticed that the router was automagically rebooting itself and when it initialized, the phone would ring. So every time the phone rang I had to wait to see if it would ring again indicating the router had just reset itself or if it was really a call. Made numerous calls to tech support and opened numerous cases on-line. No resolution. Got to the point that I had to unplug the phone at night so the random ringing wouldn't wake me up So I canceled within the 30 day trial period. When I did not receive a refund I called them and apparently in the fine print in addition to the 30 day trial period, there is a number of minutes and if you go over that, it doesn't matter that the service sucked or that you were within the 30 day trial, you don't get a refund even though you returned the router. Major scam artists. If it works, you're lucky. Wait until you have to call them and then bend over.
I had Lingo a couple years ago, the service was lousy, delay making a call and then bad
connections, so I went back to land line. I was really leery of trying it again with VoIP.com, but I give a go. It was easy to install and I couldn't tell the difference between my land line and voip. It's great, except when calling for help! I got better response using email!!!!!!
Voip.com rules the market. I've been using them since last September and there have been
no glitches. Steady service with great voice quality. I was with Vonage before but got fed up with them. Plus Voip.com has better prices and features. Heather Lucas, Oregon
This voip.com is my first phone that works with internet. For over 4 months I haven't had any
problems and the quality is better than my regular phone was. I don't really use all the features, what matters is that the calls are crystal clear. I'm very happy with voip.com here in Kentucky.
This is my first experience with internet phones and I'm very happy with voip.com. The box
came fast and I could use it in 30 minutes (took me a little time to set it up). Quality is just as good as my old normal phone. I got a $199 yearly promo offer so it's saving me quite a lot. This is good stuff, I like it :)
I'm very happy with my voip.com service. I'd have to say that so far everything has been
excellent. I've called customer service twice and both times the rep was really helpful and really knew what they were talking about. I've recommended this service to friends and family and everyone is really happy with it.
I switched from Sunrocket 3 weeks ago, I also used Vonage before. Voip.com's router came
in 6 days (router is the new linksys model) and it's been working perfectly ever since. Good features and very good sound quality. This is best provider I've had so far.
I finally decided to try voip based on my friend's recommendation. I picked Voip.com because I liked what they promised. Good choice, the box came fast and it was easy to install (well, my boyfriend did it:). It's working just like my old normal phone, the quality is also just as good and it's a lot cheaper. Bottom line: good service, lots of savings. Features are cool too.
I got the $199 per year service a few weeks ago and it's been fantastic. It was easy to order
and install and so far no glitches. It's only been a few weeks but I wish I had done this earlier as it's going to save me about $40 a month. My only regret is that I now see Viatalk have a 2 year deal for $229 although I am really happy with the voip.com service.
