Where should I start? Sunrocket sucks. If you enjoy handing out $17 a month to a company who won't guarantee service, then this is the plan for you.
It took more than 45 days to have our phone number transferred. The phone unit they mailed us did NOT show us when we had messages waiting. When calling to check for phone messages you have to listen to a slow-talking automated voice that lists the date, the time, the phone number that called, AND how long the message is before it will actually play the freaking message. The modem unit gets insanely hot. I hear my own echo when I use the phone. There is a delay of maybe 1.5 seconds from the time that I speak until my listener hears me...that is not good when they are expecting a quick response. I've had most of my listeners think that I'm not responding at all and they will in turn continue talking (interrupting me without realizing it) and in the process I hear my echo, their interruption and myself saying
something current all at the same time. Very annoying. Despite several calls to tech support our internet and phone cut out ALL THE TIME. If I use my phone while the computer is on, I am guaranteed to lose the connection to both within 10 minutes max. When that happens I can hear the person on the other end of the phone just fine, but they can't hear me. Tech support has given us all sorts of different reasons for the cut outs and different means to fix it (to no avail)...but even if I'm not using the phone the internet and phone will still randomly go out daily for no apparent reason. I have to fix the problem by unplugging out Comcast Modem, then unplugging the Sunrocket Modem. Wait 10 seconds to plug Comcast back in. Wait another minute, then plug Sunrocket back in. Then wait a minute and my service comes back. For how long, is always unknown. Sometimes it goes out 2 minutes later. Sometimes 30 min. later.
Sunrocket says that the internet and phone modems use 2 different bandwidths and they need configured so they stop shutting each other down...but really, they should have fixed that problem before bringing the product to market. OR they should at least have a "how to" manual on what to do when the product arrives. As it is, we are left trying to perform 6 tests that take 10 minutes each while using a phone and internet that keep dying every few minutes. That just doesn't work. It becomes a total embarrassment when I'm always having to reboot my modems to call people back to apologize for my phone hanging up on them. In 1 45 min phone call I might have to do that 4 times. Qwest may charge a lot, but at least we'll have a phone and internet that works without dying and losing all the online date that was entered.
Sunrocket Rocks!! I switched to sunrocket purely for the savings - $199 a year and 3 free
months. I've used several providers and they have all been good in terms of features and voice quality, I put most of that down to having a good ISP and following the install instructions in terms of where to place the router and what and where to connect it to. I see lots of complaints about people being charged for a disconnect fee - the only advice I can say is read the terms and conditions it's all in there. I recommend VoIP to all my friend and not just sunrocket, the savings can be huge and you get a lot of good/cool/useful features.
Don't get Sunrocket it SUCKS! Well, I got a free Uniden hand set with this service and I give a
5 for Ordering Rate but, Seriously the Customer Care is horrible it takes 20~30 minutes to connect to a operator. The VOIP device keeps disconnecting when I try to fax it comes with a error even though it's compatible. I have transferred my 949 phone number but, it's not transferred yet and I have been waiting like over 3 months. The voice quality is the worse ever! I have never had a worst VOIP service ever. I tried all kinds like Broadvoice and Vonage but seriously I never encountered anything worse then Sunrocket. The main problem is when you have Anonymous Call Rejection it becomes a busy signal which actually bothers me since other VOIP providers tell you to press *82 or *65 or something to fix your caller ID but, Sunrocket makes it a busy signal so my friend could not call me. So I would recommend you pay a little bit more and get some other VOIP provider seriously.
Gizmo is very sensitive to upstream bandwidth. I have 5M/2Mbps cable connection.
However, once I start uploading even 2Kb using Torrent, phone quality becomes very bad. Conversation break up even you still have 1.2Mbps upstream. Customer support is useless. Put you on hold for 10 minutes and still could not talk to a technician. Email responded very fast, but, technician never called like says in the email. The first few weeks after I signed up with Sun Rocket, everything went pretty well. The problem started almost 30 days after the Free Trial period ended. Since then, problem stays. I really wish to go back to Vonage. I had Vonage for almost 2 years and seldom had any problem. The only reason I switched over to Sun Rocket was because of cheaper price. I guess I learned now. Cheaper does not mean better. I would not recommend SR to anyone.
I AM REALLY DISPPOINTED WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY JUST GIVE ME
TICKET NUMBERS AND MOST OF THE TIMES THE PROBLEMS REMAIN UNTIL I EXPLODE. THESE GUYS ARE CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD FOR EVERY ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE WITH CUBA (.75C) VERY HARD TO GET, I KNOW, BUT IF YOU CHECK THE LOG, IT SHOWS SECONDS AND ARE BILLED FOR ONE MINUTE EACH. LAST TICKET FROM THEM TOLD ME ABOUT A SYSTEM DOWN IMPEDING A REFUND ON MY ACCOUNT BUT ANYWAYS THE CREDIT CARD STATEMENT IS SHOWING ACCURACY IN THEIR HIGH WRONG BILLS. LATEST FEATURE I AM GETTING IS A DISCONNECTED PHONE MESSAGE WHEN I TRY TO DIAL HOME FROM ANOTHER NUMBER. I AM SO UPSET WITH THEM I WONT EVEN CALL ABOUT IT SINCE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALWAYS... GOT MY PEOPLE IN CUBA, AND SUNROCKET BEATS THE REST IN THEIR RATES, BUT I GUESS THAT'S THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR YOUR MISTAKES!
I signed for Sun Rocket service on 6/10/06 and was told
that it would take up to 30 days to have my number imported from MCI . My number wasn't
imported until 8/21/06 after many calls to customer service and many different stories as
to why the number hadn't been imported. Since being totally on Sun Rocket my calls are
being dropped frequently and a large part of the time I have no home phone service. Also
the sound quality has been bad - echoing and static. The Customer Service is horrible.
Half of the time I can't understand the foreign reps and when I do get people I understand
their stories are all different as to how to correct my service. It has been an absolute
nightmare. Two weeks ago they set up a technical support dept and that has been a
disaster. Each time you call they have you change a setting - each rep questioning the
others advice. As to the old saying "you get what you pay for" - I'm now a firm
believer. Unless the management of Sun Rocket reads these reviews and take actions to
correct the problems I don't see a very bright future for this company. Now my next task
will be to get a refund from them as soon as I leave their service. HEED TO GOOD ADVICE -
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR SUN ROCKET. Almost forgot - a customer service rep informed me last
week that MCI is no longer in business and hasn't been for 3 or 4 mos. When questioned she
said that she was sure of it because Sun Rocket had taken over their call center in
Springfield Mo. Does this tell you how misinformed their reps can be?
I have had 2 other VOIP providers and they all have issues in the Customer Service area. I did
have a minor issue with getting my number ported but when I contacted the correct people
my transfer was compleded in exactly 30 calendar days. I have my VOIP adapter "Gizmo"
wired into my house and powering 3 other phone jacks without an issue
I am very happy with the product and it's reliability. My days of copper phone lines are
definitely behind me. Customer Service / Tech Support could be better but I have experienced
worse elsewhere. My opinion is they all have these issues because their subscriber base is
growing so quickly.
First two months it worked Ok just few times a day we seen call dropped. After that fun part
started we are having one way voice or total silence during almost each call .This silence or one way sound stays for few seconds. This is very frequent even impossible to make a single call a day without this problem. Called customer service and they advised some bandwidth test. Results were perfect then they changed some settings in the modem (they call it Gizmo). But problem is still there . I called customer service several times during last three weeks but every time I get answer that we have escalated this issue to higher level and some one will call you within next 24 hours but nobody called. I am going to cancel this service and try any other service.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROVIDER. This company lies to their customers. They do not provide what they promise. They will not return phone calls, faxes or emails.
Have had Sunrocket for 2 months...very easy to install and the savings on my phone bill have
already paid for the service in full. Today I came home...no dial tone. Did all the troubleshooting suggested on line and still nothing. It appears my Gizmo has died. Tried calling customer service...have been disconnected 5 times when dialing from my daytime cellphone minutes. I hope this gets resolved soon, and I will post here to let you know how it goes. I am a big fan of VOIP and up until today Sunrocket has been ok...now this is my first venture with their customer service and I am already upset...more to follow. Check back soon!
NO enhanced 911 service as promised - make sure you call your local police station and test
this. I was so fed up with not being able to receive phone calls that I wondered what else was wrong with the service. Found out that the E911 doesn't work and they don't have an answer for that either. Like other users, no one can call my home number that I selected. It's been 2 months now. I'm moving on!
I got SR about 3 months ago. SR tech-support is WORTHLESS. When you call, tech-support level
one can never solve the problem. They give you a stupid ticket number and wait for tech-support level three to call you back in 72 hours (72 hrs for SR is 5 day later). For the past 3 months my experience with this company had been a horrible, problems after problems. 1. Problem transferring my number.2. Voice mail problem. 3. Retrieving voicemail problem. 4. Private and anonymous call blocking problem which was created when SR was fixing problem No. 3 which can not be solve until today 8/28/06. 5. Outbound caller ID that not one can solve until today 8/28/06.
Before SR fixed the voice mail problem the standard message (private calls are not accepted by this number) will play to people with private number. After that day everyone is getting different signals and messages, some people get a busy signal, other error message, other nothing for other the line keep ringing. I called the super tech-support, again and I received a call after 5 day (again is suppose to be in 72 hours), tech-support told me that when the Block Anonymous Calls feature is ON, every call with a private number will get a busy signal, this is the standard for SR. I told the tech-support that was not true because this is happening since they fixed my voice mail and if what he said was true how come everyone is getting different signal & message. The tech-support answering me by saying that is not SR, is the caller company, they have they own message. I told him, you just said that the busy signal is SR feature. I called my SR number from my cellular phone and I got an error message. I called Verizon and I explained the situation, the tech-support from verizon called my SR number and he did not get a error message or a busy signal from his end the phone just keep ringing but from my end the SR line was not ringing. Verizon said, is your carrier. I called back SR and until today they have not fixed the problem…
SR is also blaming verizon for the outbound caller ID. I disable my outbound caller ID, this mean that my number and name will not show up, guess what, it is true my number and name do not show up but a different number show up in the other party caller ID 212-2920147. I called SR this past Friday 8/18/06 and I told them that I was going to cancel my service if these two problem are not solve. The CS promised two months credit which I do not think I will get and promised to escalated the problem to a different level. I will not recommend this company to nobody, customer service, tech-supper level one and three, supervisor and managers are all worthless. Since my first call until the last one I think I spoke to more than six supervisors and managers and more than 15 tech-support without any solution to the problems. I would like to know if anyone is having problem
