multiple billing issues with customer service not resolved after repeated phone calls. Was
promised by billing and customer service that renewal issues would be corrected. India based call center is no help. They have charged me almost eighty dollars in fees over the past two months with the promise they would be reversed. Five phone calls and long hold times later, no reversal. Hopefully I will have better luck with my credit card company. Do not get this service
Works great and has been for months. Had a bad "gizmo" after a few months and had to wait 10 days to get another one which is my only complaint. Service itself has been excellent.
OK, I've been having lots of conversations with people and I keep getting people saying
that every other word I say is cut out. I tried before the router, after the router and even setting / tweaking the gizmo to change the upload/ download cut offs for when I'm on the phone. No luck there. But one thing that I did do is get a VoIP optimized router- 60 bucks at Compusa. I got the D-Link DI-634M. Turn on gaming mode and you should be getting much better service out of the gizmo and no more issues, or at least 95% reduced. I'd say the call quality is now acceptable, but its been a pain and lots of time wasted so, in hind site, I'd rather go with Vonage and pay 10 bucks more a month than have to mess around with tweaking the service and having a huge headache. So, bottom line, you get what you paid for, but if you already have it, then get a router that specifically optimizes for VoIP, config it correctly, (they don't work for VoIP right out of the box, but getting the router was easier than porting my number to Vonage or something else..- good luck - a
I have had Sunrocket now for almost 5 months. The problems I had at first (no connection,
losing calls, internet connection lost, etc) turned out to be a problem with my modem. I used to have an RCA modem, and it just could not handle the gizmo. Once I replaced that with a Motorola surfboard (about $50 at Walmart) I have had no problems whatsoever with Sunrocket. Clear calls, always available, no dropped calls, etc. If you are having problems with your service I would highly recommend trying to troubleshoot it. Do not give up too easily. In my case the solution was so incredibly easy, that it was almost embarrassing. Problems often are not SR's fault, but rather due to faulty equipment that has nothing to do with SR. Overall, I would highly recommend SR. I have loved having it.
The one phone service provider I found the worst in my experience is Sunrocket. The order
placing process is simple, but, once the order is placed it all downhill from there. The number transfer process took over 30 days. The number never got transferred and when the service was cancelled it took over 60 days to get the refund. I had to call every other day, speak to someone with a foreign accent, who never can understand anything and they keep talking about escalating calls. Did you know that you can never speak to their billing department. They don't accept phone calls and requests can only be routed thru these customer service reps who do not understand simple English. Stay Away from these guys and pass on this message to anyone who is even thinking of Sunrocket.
I have read horrible comments about Customer Service. SR had system melt down at the end of June 2006. I couldn't get a hold of their customer service and they did not answer my email very well.
We were having trouble with their "Gizmo" Phone Adapter. It kept needing to reboot every few hours. Turns out it was a bad Gizmo (PA). I spoke to SR customer service guy in Manilla, Phill. I could not communicate with him and politely asked to speak with someone else. I was patched over to SR Canadian customer service branch and spoke with Dave. What a wonderful customer service rep he was. He erased about my previous frustrations and I was about ready to jump ship to another VOIP service. I have changed my mind and staying put; and have now received my new "gizmo" (PA). Ah, life is back to normal, and I am saving so much money too. I just keep all of the ATT letters that say: "We've listen and we have changed our greatly over priced products price to just overpriced, please come back." I am going to send the 10 lbs of paper back to them so they can recycle and again reduce their costs. Hey, bottom line. Don't believe all the bad stuff about Sun Rocket. I have had them for over 1 year now. Yes, small glitches here and there, but I'm not spending $75/month for lousy land line service anymore. SR rocks!
I had 7 SunRocket gizmos running. I had been completely happy with their service. I've
recommended SunRocket to all of my friends and associates. All of a sudden, all of their newer model of gizmos quit working. No Dial tone and a red light flashing on the gizmo. The 3 old ones kept working, the 4 new ones were completely dead. Tech support tried to tell me that I "didn't have enough bandwidth for the gizmo to 'phone home'". They couldn't explain how the 3 other gizmos were working just fine on my T1 connection. (First level of tech support didn't know what "T1" was.) We were supposed to get a Level 3 tech support call back in 24 hours. Oops, misfiled paperwork. 24 more hours. After two weeks, we boxed 'em up with a nasty letter and told them to keep their junk. Finally just got a form letter saying "sorry, we were busy". They weren't too busy to take my $1400! I was their biggest fan, now I'm their biggest nightmare.
As a previous
reviewer stated SunRocket gets a lot of bad publicity. I can truly say their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Setting up, number porting and other things went smoothly. After 3 weeks I started having issues with dropped calls, busy signals and overall outages. The techies had me run what seemed to be a million speed tests. After a month and a half I finally got them to send me a new gizmo, this only took being on hold for over 2 hours one
afternoon. Got the new gizmo and started having the same problems, was ready to throw the thing out the window. One day the light bulb went on and I decided to check to see if it might be my internet provider and not the gizmo. After a few more weeks of troubleshooting and numerous calls to the ISP, it was determined that my cable modem was not functioning correctly. In fact over a 24 day period it tried to reset itself 38,000 times (this is not a misprint, no wonder I was having issues). Time Warner sent out a tech and of course at that time everything was fine, he replaced the modem and a few of the connections in the house. Two hours after he left the internet went down. Called CS and was told everything was running smoothly and I probably had another bad modem. Drove out to nearest local office to replace and got another defective one, it did not work at all. Techie came out and changed modem, and wiring outside. It's been two weeks and so far so good. Long story short, although SR customer service is terrible, it may not always be their fault the system isn't working. For the price I don't think there is anything better.
There are many negative reviews on Sunrocket and VoIP in general so I wanted to add my
two-cents. First of all this is NOT ma-bell, I don’t think anyone will argue that a good old fashioned POTS line is superior to an Internet phone line. However is it better than cellular service, YES and the savings that I was paying to SBC/ATT are substantial. Sunrocket offers many more services that are included, such as caller id, voice mail, call waiting, a call log on the internet etc. that are all options with the standard phone company. I was tired of paying the outrageous charges at AT&T. I have been extremely happy with Sunrocket. I’m not saying there weren’t a few bumps in the road, but if you are not expecting perfection and can accept a dropped call or static in the line now and again, it’s time you tried Sunrocket. The savings alone can fill my gas tank.
So far the service has been very good. I have not had any dropped calls and have always
been able to get a dial tone and make outgoing calls. I also have not had to talk with the support staff yet so I am waiting to see how that goes. I noticed no other reviewers that had their internet service from BellSouth so I don't know if this makes a difference about the quality of service. I will provide an update if a change in service happens.
We have had Sunrocket for 1+ years. We have had no major problems, and compared to Verizon
analog service they are enormously reliable and helpful. About once a month I need to reboot the gizmo for unknown reasons. Otherwise, no problems. Voicemail and other features are great.
It has been 4 months since I set up SunRocket and they still have not completed the transfer of my phone number from Verizon so I've been paying for both services. Some of this was problems with the way my Verizon billing was set up - but SunRocket never informed
me even though they say they did. It has now been 6 weeks since I straightened things out with Verizon, but still no number transfer. The customer service could not be worse. I've been told numerous times I would get a call back but never have. I'm now trying to cancel the service but I've been hung up on, on hold forever before being disconnected, promised call backs that never happen. They have $200 from me for an annual plan (really 15 months) and I'm thinking I'll never get it back. Also the service is just OK - I often get busy signals when calling out (a problem they act like they never heard of before) when I know I'm calling numbers that have voicemail or are businesses. Also the sound quality can be spotty. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS NIGHTMARE TO ANYONE. STAY AWAY!!!
Occasional: Incoming calls not ringing & going straight to VM.
Frequent: Dropped calls. Always: Incoming anonymous calls while anonymous blocking enabled is not handled (rings forever). Frequent: Can't hear but can be heard after conversation starts out OK. Rare: Incoming caller ID sometimes wrong (wrong name) & sometimes vague (city, st). Frequent: Popping during conversation.
