SunRocket is the worst service provider I have EVER found. The quality is intermittent and
the service is non existant! I know the technology can work...but with SunRocket it does not. I have spent in excess of 10 hours on the phone (in holding or in talking) and more than 3 months of non-service. My voice is choppy and/or sounds like it is under water. If you want a frustrating toy, get SunRocket, and of course if you want to be treated like pond skum by their limited service techs. They promise a lot, but do not deliver.
No doubt, SR is a startup with growing pains. However it has improved a lot in a few months. Currently I get reliable and clear service that rivals a land line. In the beginning (around Oct 05) I had difficulties with the gizmo and CS could only send a second which appeared to have the same problem. However, I got better TS
and it just need to be reset I think. Major problem back then was reliability with incoming calls. The caller would receive a message that phone was disconnected sometimes. I could send a fax but not receive a fax. (Need to retest if this is still true). The gizmo only has one ethernet out port so I needed to add a second router in order to patch to phone and computer. It took many calls to TS to try to work out the problems. You should be prepared to do likewise if you venture into VOIP I think. I like the fact that voicemails are sent to my email. Waiting for reliable fax capabilities and a true second line option. Today, I am happy with it but had to maintain a landline for faxing and connecting to a BBS (It bites that I am paying more for the land line basic service than SR.
I had the worst experience with Sunrocket. After connecting the gizmo to the phone I
started to make phone calls, and in the middle of one, the phone went dead. I tried calling customer service, but they had absolutely no idea what to do. It went on for four days. Every time I tried to contact the technical service, I had to wait up to half an hour, and they hanged up on me two times!!! I've never been so frustrated with a service!
So far so good. I contacted customer service through their service email and received a call back within a few hours. They were very helpful and took care of questions that I had. All in all I am very pleased by the service and quality from such a young industry and company.
DON'T DO IT!!!!!! Choosing Sunrocket was a horrible mistake! First of all, the company sent me a broken "gizmo" (this is what they call the device to hook your wires into) and I had to spend several hours per call trying to problem solve the issue. The customer service personnel were so frustrating! The language barrier was incredible- and we spent most of our time trying to find a common vocabulary to fix the problem. I had a couple days where I tried calling on three different occasions (per day) to troubleshoot a
problem and was on the phone roughly 40mins per call waiting for to speak to customer service. Also, I was billed even before the "gizmo" arrived to replace the one that was broken- I wasn't able to use their product yet! Another time, there was a problem with getting my voicemail messages, another when my PIN was not working, and another where my username and password would not work on the webpage to access my account! So, all in all- I was with the company for less than a month. Do yourself a favor and keep looking! I am in total disbelief of all the positive comments I've read from other reviewers!
I have had Sunrocket for a few months. In general, I have been pleased with the sound quality and reliability. I have had an occasional person tell me they could not get
through, and one of my friends who uses Verizon cell phone service with caller id blocked can get through only part of the time. I am not sure if it is his service or mine. Most of the time my service works great and the features are excellent. Customer service gets back to you within a few days but often with the same canned response to check your setup, along with setup instructions. If they can get their customer service in order, I will give them excellent on all aspects.
I had no problems with making/receiving phone calls. The quality was not the best, but acceptable for $199 per year. Two technical problems were experienced though that caused me to cancel - first, I could not access the voice mail system to retrieve my messages. Second, for business phone numbers that require menu inputs, press 1 or enter account
numbers etc...phone keypad inputs were not recognized. I called SunRocket Customer Service 5 times. They could not resolve the issue. I heard varying reasons/excuses - a system upgrade was in progress and a firmware (gizmo) upgrade is needed. Each time they said it would be fixed within 24 hours - 3 days went by to no avail. Aside from that, Customer Service was terrible - promises were not kept and it seemed that they really had no clue. They were very prompt in cancelling my service though: one call, two minutes - nice.
I HAD SUNROCKET FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW. IT TOOK A WEEK TO GET MY EQUIPMENT. GOT IT PLUG AND PLAY AND WAS UP IN 5 MIN. I WORK REALLY GREAT. I'M IN THE 909 AREA IN CALIFORNIA. NOW I'M SAVING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. CAN NOT GO BAD WITH THAT!!
I ordered Sunrocket service on 09/23 and recieved my GIZMO on 09/28. Installed the GIZMO
in front of my router, but the voice light did not show up. I called CS and they did something at their end and asked me to re-boot the GIZMO. I did and BINGO, the voice light was lit. Got dial tone. Could make and also recieve calls immediately. Their prices saves me more than 400 dollars a month compared to Q-West. Also, since we call frequently to India, save some money on international call credits. Overall, barring couple of short voice mail outages, it has been a great experience and I WOULD recommend this to everyone. GO SUNROCKET. SS
Setup was so simple. Sound quality is very good for calls made within US. For, international calls, there are occasaional break ups, echos. Overall, it is good.
This was a DISASTER. It took 7 weeks to transfer my number from Vonage to Sun Rocket but at least I could make and receive phone calls. Once the number was transferred all incoming calls stopped. I can't get calls to either my transferred phone number or the number Sun Rocket gave me to start. This has gone on for two weeks and nothing changes. The tech support people are utterly worthless and the Provisioning dept. is completely incompetent. I'm switching to ViaTalk.
Sunrocket was my first experience with a VOIP and it was horrible, they are nothing what they claim to be in there ads and they do nothing to remedy the problems. I never was able to make one call, it just never worked and their customer service was a joke. The only good thing was that they have the No-risk guarantee so I cut my losses and got the hell out.
awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful, awful - and then you have to deal with SunRocket customer service, which ranks "really bad" only because there is no lower option to correctly reflect how poor it actually is!
Right after I signed up for this service I was very excited. The initial contact with SunRocket
was good, the equipment came quickly and the quality was pretty good. Plus we were saving $500/year on the phone bill. The honeymoon lasted about 3-4 months. Then the first adapter went out. SunRocket was pretty good about sending me a new one. Back up and running. Then about 2 months later, the same thing happened. Again, minimal hassle about getting a replacement.
However, now the horror story starts. The latest adapter went out a week ago. And so far I have not been able to get them to send me a new adapter. It seems like SunRocket's Customer Service went offshore. It is now HORRIBLE!!!! The person I talk to does not seem to understand the product they are supposedly supporting. They have me run the same tests over and over again with the same result. They ask me the same questions over and over again, like they either don't have a customer database with my info in it. Whenever I have gotten them to try and connect me to engineering (if such a thing exists), my call is mysteriously dropped.
I am fed up with the run around. Whatever happened to SunRocket within the last couple of months changed my rating of them from about 3.5 to 0. I would never recommend them to anyone I know. Maybe if you don't have problems you would be ok, but my experience says STAY AWAY!!
