I got my SunRocket Gizmo in a few days and was up and running in minutes. I also
transferred my phone # which only took 2 weeks. After a couple of weeks, I noticed a problem, I called support and they were helpful. I replaced my old cable modem and the problem was solved. Be careful to make sure your broadband provider is supplying you with adequate quality (not just speed). Go to this link to test your ISP's network. You need to run the test at least 5 times over a 90 minute window and make sure that every test shows QoS of at least 70% and Max Pause of <100ms. http://myspeed.visualware.com/voip/
Sunrocket was ok for the first 6 months. Occasional sound issues, but I would just do the
call again and it would be great. Then I started having problems receiving calls on one of my two numbers. Spent a lot of time redoing voicemail when they (Sunrocket) decided it was a problem with my ISP (even though only one number was affected). Sunrocket basically washed their hands and said there was nothing more they could do. (even though all the line tests gave me a score of 4 or more for VOIP) Customer service tried, but just don't have the knowledge to do much.
Sunrocket doest have any sense of Moral responsibility against the service provided. They
just charge the credit card with Random Numbers. Unless you send a really harsh worded threatening email cc builtitbetter dont expect any response from them. After 38 email exchanges my bill for 22 days finally I got a Math (big algebraic expression) showing the breakdown of the charge they made on my credit card. This is the way they work. Dont even trust what ever the offers the sales person promises while you are ordering the service over phone, you may see a completely different credit card charge amount, and the explanation you get get we have any notes on your order, and was charged as per the
standard rates. Don't even think of the plan change, As the explanation I got their systems cannot handle that. Once you change your plan your Voice mail inbox will be Out-of Sync (you have to delete and reconfigure to make it work again), don't change the service address, you don't even realize the service number got changed because of that, and on .. and ..on .. Voice Quality goes really bad between 6pm and 9pm EST .. consistent for the last 2 months .. Bottom line Sunrocket cannot compete in this technology market ..they are mature enough to handle VOIP services. Again this is the customers option, to choose a really cheap service, and should nothowever expect the Quality, what you pay for is what you get, is true with Sunrocket.
I wonder how this company exists...? How much longer is it going to exist; the phone
service is just horrible. My line was dropped few times a day (often during the conversation) on regular basis. DO NOT USE IT!!! Price is tempting but you are just paying for your misery...
Service for the first several months was ok, sound quality was mixed. However starting
about three weeks ago about 1/2 of my calls started going into voicemail after only 2 rings (its is set for 6). Sunrocket has not been able to resolve this problem. It has turned into an expensive voicemail service. Customer support tried, but they just don't know that much. Its really aggravating having to go through the same description every time, they don't appear to have a good system for keeping track of problems
READ THIS. Sunrocket is the worst company on the planet. I worked in telecommunications for
23 years and can say with absolute confidence that Sunrocket failed their brand promise in every regard. They never delivered my preexisting number so I canceled the service after 90 days of waiting. Then they ported my number after I cancelled. The customer service department is a complete nightmare. I was on hold for more total time than I was in conversation with a rep. I was transferred more times than a roman coin. Sunrocket never
met a single promise made by a customer service representative. The people working for the company seem sincere and well intended but the company can NOT function. The primary problem is that the sales, provisioning and finance IT systems are not integrated and (apparently) run by separate organizations. I ordered my original service in May of "06, they stole my number in August '06, I got it back by month end and am still receiving invoices and dun notices. The price may be interesting but the pain and suffering inflicted and the time required to TRY and work with this totally inept company could never justify a decision to order ANYTHING from Sunrocket. Tell everyone you know.
I've had this service for several months now and it has been fantastic. Received equipment
in about 3 days and was up and running right away. Any small issues that came up (like a billing error) were handled quickly. Customer service has been wonderful. I am saving a ton of money of my phone bill. The extra features are fabulous. I can't see why anyone would not use this service. The money savings alone is sufficient to at least look into it. But add to that the superior service and the many features and you are getting a huge bargain.
I do not recommend SunRocket due to echoes, poor sound quality, numerous outages with
little to no acknowledgement or apology, 3 week response times to emails, and overall poor customer care.
Worst experience with a tele company I have ever had. Going on 2 weeks with no dial tone.
Hours on the phone with member services. Unsound technical advice, language barriers, hang ups, excessive hold. Yes..I've done it all with scumrocket. Run..as fast as you can. I've had the same phone # for 20 years and now am considering dropping service due recent experiences. Don't make the mistake (like I did) and pay a year in advance.
I've had the
service for almost 2 months. I've never lost service or had bad sound quality. The price at $199 for the year is hard to beat and a free cordless phone too. I am exceptionally happy I went for the service and have even convinced my mum to sign up. I'd recommend Sunrocket to anyone.
Since last January there have been a few hurdles with Sunrocket, but for the most part I've
been happy with the call quality and service. The FREE cordless phones Sunrocket provided interfered with my wireless network so I dumped those phones for a 5.8 GHz cordless phone from Radio Shack. The most reliable/optimal way I have found to connect everything is use a router between the cable modem and Sunrocket's Gizmo and my wireless router. That way if the wireless router needs to be rebooted (happens regularly) it doesn't affect the phone. Since installing the router, I haven't had to reboot the Gizmo even once. Other than that, I wish the clarity was better. At times there is an audible hiss while talking on the phone.
Do the research. SunRocket beats every plan and vendor out there. Note that customer service
sucks no matter what vendor you go with....just check the blogs. This plan is 200 minutes for $10.00. You pay $40 to get started with the equipment. Extra minutes are at 3cents a minute. You just can't beat that. You get two phone numbers, call waiting, caller id, call forwarding, E911, all included. As for hookups ALWAYS remember to hook the internet modem to the phone switch first. Then hook your network switch to the phone switch network port. That allows the phone switch to control the bandwidth and insure voice quality. Most of the people with voice quality issues have not known to do this, they just hook the box to their house switch, or worse, to their RF network.
Aside from the occasional glitch, the system is a great value. Obviously it is not a
landline service and has the occasional burble in the sound quality but I think you'll get that with any VoIP system. We have to reboot now and then when there is a hiccup in the power or the cable service but it is otherwise reliable. I put an UPS on the system to include the cable router and gizmo and that helps if the power is out for less than 2 hours. Saving about $600 a year makes the minor issues okay. We love the second number with distinctive ring! Customer service is outsourced but isn't it all these days? We've gotten what we've needed even if we did require an "English to English" translator.
I was stupid when I bought this service, I may have a big IQ and I have great street smarts but I should have read what everyone else are saying about this company. One big thing,
they take your money and they do it fast, I ordered the 9.95 a month plan I got the box in the mail about 5 days later, I setup my account and I check my billing just to make sure everything was okay. My plan according to them was 199.99 a year which is not what I wanted. Well, I email them and I email them 4 emails and no response and I did this with a day or two apart from each other. Okay I call, I ask for a refund seem to be easy and worked out okay they said it would take 24 to 48 hours. 72 hours later I call back this time I am angry and I told them how long will it take for your company to fix what you screwed up? they told me till my next billing cycle then I told them this is unacceptable and I cannot deal with a BS company like this. I canceled my account then they said it will take 7 to 10 days for a refund if I do not see a refund I am filing a lawsuit as all my phone calls and emails have been recorded and are now filed. Do not give this company a chance.
