Reviewers Comments:

It took this company more than 6 months to get my number ported. They would start, run into a problem and then wait for me to call to let me know there was a problem getting the number ported - absolutely no good customer service. I always thought I was talking to a CS who was working out of their basement - not real friendly or helpful without being asked questions. After they FINALLY got the number ported, service was OK. I had been using Vonage and had a great experience there - moved only because of a network marketing gimic. Wish I had NEVER done it and would not recommend Fonvantage to ANYONE. When I finally moved in October to a bundle with Time Warner, I was still billed by Fonvantage for another month - unbelievable - even though I was no longer being provided a service. How does that happen? With a company that has no communication between customer service and the porting department - that was what THEIR CS said was the problem....unbelievable and pretty poor service. Would NOT recommend...

Well, I guess I was patient. It took as long as they said it would to port my number and when they did the tech support people helped me with a few set up glitches. I like anyone gets impatient if the CS don't get back in a timely fashion. Overall I have never lost a call unless my IP service went down and the sound quality is good. I had intermittent beeping on the line only heard by others - I could not hear it - so they replaced my phone adapter..... I save lots of money and there is no echo like I had with Vonage - also the CS reps are on the same continent and I like that.

Reviewers Comments:

I had VoIP over my computer and then with the "low price" leader. My service was inconsistent and then I had fees I didn't expect. Still, VoIP was so much less expensive than my long distance was so i stayed. A friend had me look at Fonvantage and I decided to try it. My set up was easy and the sound quality and consistency has been much better. It is a few dollars more a month but I have don't have the echo anymore so it's worth it.

Reviewers Comments:

I have just switched over to Vonage, b/c FonVantage NEVER was able to port my number although they claim that it was ported 4 1/2 months AFTER I activated it. I could not receive calls from cell phones. I could not dial 1-800 numbers which I use for conference calls as I work from home for a very large technology company. I could not receive calls from cells phones, they would change my temp number , without notifying me. Also, you cannot get a hold of technical support or customer support, I would leave numerous messages and never a call back. They have yet to release my number , so I am paying double phone bills. I have paid double phone bills for 5 months. My service went out on Monday, March 16th and today is March 19th . They actually just called me back to ask if I had rebooted the device...I spent an hour on the phone with technical support on Monday, and he couldn't' help me ....so he said that level 2 would call me back in 24 48 hours...(in the meantime, I would be without phone service) Just called me today 4 days later with no help or resolution. I am contacting the FCC.

Reviewers Comments:

I've had Fonvantage for over 3-4 years...acquired it when I was w/ Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing and though I'd retain it after I left the biz due its cost effectiveness. Periodically the services just blanks out...and there's no use trying to contact their service department because no one answers or returns calls. I tried to port my number a couple times but Fonvantage refuses to release my number which I've had for over 20 years and don't want to change. Thus I'm stuck w/ the service...at least its not expensive. So, thankfully I have my cell phone as my back up so when the service blanks out I can use the cell phone. If you just need a service @ home to answer calls and store msgs, as I do, this works for a nominal monthly fee.
