Reviewers Comments: I figured I'd give
EarthLink TrueVoice a try as a bundled subscription. Biggest mistake I
could make. I can dial out, but cannot receive incoming calls. I tried patiently to
communicate the problem with their customer service, but got nowhere. I don't have a
problem with overseas call centers, but my God, train the people properly! At any rate, I
ended up hacking around the problem. I forward all calls to a POTS landline (a nagging
voice inside my head told me to keep an active landline; glad I did!), and set up a cheap
answering machine to catch my calls. I understand technology breaks, but on principle I
hate the fact that these companies treat the American consumer like garbage. If you are
going to advertise "24 hr. Tech Support", you should use real technicians, not script
monkeys telling you how sorry they are for your inconvenience while offering no real
solutions. I work in IT so I have always been able to handle any DSL problems myself, and
perhaps that's how I avoided dealing with EarthLink's poor tech support until now.
Overall, there are better, more reliable vendors out there. Avoid EarthLink VoIP services. |

Reviewers Comments: It is no surprise that trueVoice is losing customers. The phone service was always OK at
best. It had constant echo, voice mail delays and I would feel really bad if I did not
receive 25,000 Delta SkyMiles for switching from Vonage. Luckily my contract period is
over and I can switch without paying back the SkyMiles. There is one problem, Vonage
cannot port my #. I had to switch to Lingo to port my #. My # was ported before the Lingo
adapter arrived to my house and I had no phone service for a couple days. Of course
EarthLink is charging me for the 22 days that I do not have the service with no prorated
refund. Customer service is very bad and must be working on their own EarthLink truevoice
equipment, because their call quality sucks, even when I called them from my work phone.
Most other services are better than EarthLink. Vonage had much better call quality and
voicemail quality. With EarthLink, people could leave voice mails, but I would not receive
them for 3-5 days. I am glad to be done with the overseas call centers (maybe not, I have
Lingo now) and mediocre phone service. Without changes, EarthLink VoIP service will go
under and things will take care of themselves. Thank goodness for a free market. I have
one regret, I perpetuated and supported this company and its horrible customer service and
shady business practices. Don?t let them get you! Stay away. |
