EarthLink is unable to provide reliable service to me. I began service Sept 28, 2007. I
have had 10 customer service "ticket" complaints. Problems, frequent outage. When
working, unacceptable quality with echo.
Customer service department should be on a TV comedy show. They are very nice and 100%
inept, and have no difficulty making promises and no difficulty ignoring the promises.
I want my money back and am battling with them at this point. The BBB EarthLink phone
number connects to the Philippines. Tomorrow I will try a BBB complaint. In Georgia, it
appears EarthLink has had almost 4000 complaints, and 1700 have been settled. I believe I
have my numbers correct.
I have been a satisfied EarthLink/mindspring customer with dialup and then DSL since 1995.
They treat me like I am already dead.
almost a month into it and still no service - cancelled and they are dragging their feet
getting my # back to at&t (who I am no fan of either). Welcome kit with modem arrived
AFTER they had transferred my phone service over. Too many problems to mention - customer
service reps are worse than useless - they are smug and inept. Switching to earthlink was
the worst mistake I've made with my money in a long time. They charged me $75 for the
first month of service - service I never rec'd!
I don't understand how they can treat customers this way and I am amazed by the posts here
that rate them highly. Furious!
About a month ago we decided to set up a wireless network at our home. While the wireless
router worked and we had Internet access, there was no dial tone. After many hours either
chatting online or on the phone with Earthlink support staff they decided the problem was with
the firmware of the telephone adaptor/router. So they said they would send a replacement. A
week later, still no replacement. Another phone call to customer support uncovered that the
first request was never properly submitted. Finally the adaptor arrived. And after a few more
hours on the phone with customer support, we reestablish a dial tone. It only took a month,
without any phone service. But image my shock as a $75 charge appears on my bill for the
new adaptor and its shipping. Neither agent mentioned a change for the adaptor. After 45
minutes on the phone with the billing department they are unwilling to reverse the change.
They would rather send me a sticker to send it back, refund the money, and lose me as a
customer. The amazing thing is that if I started new service with them they would send me
the same piece of equipment for free, but won't do this for a "valued" current subscriber. I am
obviously moving my business elsewhere.
We have had many problems with our Earthlink Voip. Recently we were without phones for a
week & a half. During that time we spend HOURS on the phone and on live chat to correct
the problem. During this time we had a Linksys Earthlink all in one router, a technician asked
for the MAC address and what ever they did disabled the router. We can't take it back and
Earthlink won't refund out money. We are extremely unhappy!
Had it for over one year. Some dropped calls and echoes but quality has steadily improved to
where it has been acceptable. Minor problems were fixed quickly and easily. But 40 days ago
it stopped working. Four times I have been promised a new "adapter", their word for the phone
router. Each time I call there is a runaround. Yes, the people are friendly, they promise relief,
they admit the previous help person was wrong, they even promise to waive charges for
shipping, new components, and lost service, but in the end you spend a lot of time on hold,
and the adapter has never arrived. A typical call to support is 1 hour. I believe they have
concluded I am more trouble than this is worth and they actually want me to drop their
service. There is no other explanation for such passive-aggressive behavior on the phone.
I signed up with Earthlink because they promised a sign-up bonus of 25,000 miles with NWA
Worldperks. The miles were supposed to be posted after 3 months of service. 9 months into
the contract, they still have not credited the miles. Customer service is terrible. The agents
have poor English language skills, promise to solve the problem and then do nothing. The
usual run around. The service quality is mediocre at best, impossible at worst. My only option
is to sue them in California Small Claims court which I will do if they have not posted the
miles by the time the 1 year mandatory service time runs out. Just wanted to let others know
that they should avoid Earthlink.
I was lured into this deal by a packaged internet + VOIP service from Earthlink. Sound
quality is sometimes very bad, also periodic outages. Customer service is incompetent
(located overseas and I had the impression they don't know anything about VOIP, even tech
services). Most annoying is that they charge for INCOMING calls from abroad (up to
20c/min). Customer service can not explain this to me, plus there is no reference on their
website. They refuse to address my complaints through the BBB, too. STAY AWAY FROM EARTHLINK
! This non-service is not worth the money you will spend and the headaches you will have. I
am currently shopping for a new service.
Horrible, horrible static--so bad we can't hear people who call us. Each time I contact
Earthlink for assistance, they "reset the system" and all is well for a few hours. Then it
resets itself back to horrible static. So even though customer service is accessible and
responsive, the fix doesn't work, and our actual VoIP service stinks.
My boyfriend told me to sign up after his son had him sign up. I had previously used
Vonage, and switched back to the local phone service, because they had terrible customer service and phone quality. I've only had one or two times when the phone was a little choppy, but that was probably my internet, because it gets slow too every now and then, but otherwise I've been very happy with the service overall.
My son recommended signing up for VOIP service and suggested Earthlink, because he has it
too. It was really easy to get, and set up, and the service is great. I make calls everywhere, including overseas, and the call quality is great. I can't believe how much I save every month with Earthlink. I know some other people have had problems with VOIP services, but I've had a great experience with Earthlink TrueVoice service.
I researched the different VoIP plans and ended up buying EarthLink trueVoice and cable
Internet service together for around $40 a month. The phone service definitely offers the best-rated sound quality and it was always considered pretty easy to install. The customer service has a bad rap, but I read a review that suggested using the online support which was a good idea. I chatted with the rep on line a few times and was pretty comfortable with them before ordering the service. That was good advice. If you go to the Earthlink site and click on "online representative chat" somebody comes within 2 or 3 minutes. I've had a few different people and they all seem to know a lot about the technical aspect of installation & troubleshooting. I would definitely recommend it.
I switched to Earthlink TrueVoice last November. I had been trying to get our monthly bills
down and this cut it in half. I was concerned because everything I read said that the service was good but the customer service was bad, but my experience with customer service was that it was pretty good. I got the modem three days after I signed up
give you limited information on the phone when you sign up. They are very hard to get on the phone. BUT I would encourage people to try the online chat support, which I have used exclusively. You get a techie on chat very quickly. They are pretty helpful and it is more time-efficient than waiting on hold for a phone agent.
The voice quality on my end is excellent. I'm not 100% sure every call is as good from the other end, but I was away from home in May and when I called home it sounded perfect to me.
So, it sounds like lots of people are having a real problems with customer service. USE THE ONLINE CHAT. There's no wait and you get to get the best VoIP service around for a great price...without the customer service problems.
I
ordered the triple play for less than - $90 phone, DSL and TV. I'm saving a fortune and having one check to pay is nice. I did have a small issue at the start my voice breaking up but one phone call and it was fixed. I have had no issues since. I almost went for Viatalk as they had a good deal but the triple play was too hard to resist, very happy!!
I used to have Vonage, and then they started to have quality problems, so I switched to
Sunrocket, because people kept telling me how great it was, but customer service sucked, and service wasn't much better on my phone. Voicemails would get lost, and I could never even get through to customer service, so I heard from a friend they were having a really great experience with Earthlink, so when my 1 year agreement was done with Sunrocket, I switched. Earthlink service has been great. No problems, and when I had questions, I could get right through to customer service. Don't fall for these "deals" from other companies with lower prices. If your phone doesn't work, does it really matter how cheap it is. I don't know about other people's experience, but I love the Truevoice service and have told all my friends and family about it.
I signed up for Earthlink bundle service (VOIP & DSL service) in November 2006. Since the beginning I had a lot of static noise in the phone line to the point where I had to use my cell phone for the calls and the DSL service
was very slow and at times not available. I called their worthless customer service in India and spoke to different reps with American sounding names many times. They promised they are working on the issue and I should see an improvement soon. After 3 months of aggravation, I decide
