In the Internet telephony market, many providers select a niche to serve with various offerings. Yet some, like 1-VoIP, take an approach of meeting needs from the big business down to residential customers. This company takes customers of any size and offers some additional perks that few others openly promote.
1-VoIP offers hosted services to accommodate residential users and busines users, from small/home offices up to larger businesses, as well as SIP Trunking services for anyone with a PBX needing to connect to other communication networks.
Residential service is offered in 3 different plans to cover the needs of the casual caller to the world caller. All service packages come with free activation and free hardware to connect a device. Subscribers may connect with an analog phone or a digital VoIP phone with the included SP2102 adapter. It is possible to connect most other BYOD hardware but it would be best to contact customer support to ensure compatibility of existing hardware.
The Value program for residential service runs at $8.97 a month and includes 500 minutes of calling to North American numbers. The US & Canada Unlimited plan offers just as the name implies, unlimited calling between numbers in these locations, and costs $17.97 per month. The World Unlimited plan is $23.97 per month and takes it a step further by offering unlimited calling to 30 countries with reasonable rates for calls outside of the covered regions.
All residential plans include unlimited incoming minutes, all features, hardware adaptor, free activation and no term commitment, as well as the option to use Nomorobo (for blocking telemarketers and robocalls). Features include voicemail, internet fax capabilities, music on hold, call filtering, forwarding, waiting, speed dial and more.
Business VoIP services pricing is based on a "per extension" fee which varies based on the number of users (i.e. extensions) configured. The Lite offering pricing is $24.97 per user per month for groups of 1 to 5 users, dropping to $22.97/user/mo for groups of 6 to 19 users, and then dropping to $20.97/user/mo for groups of 20 - 99 users. Beyond 99 users, a customer may call to negotiate a specific price. Note that the company will match any competitor quote for a similar service.
Features are all inclusive with any of the Business VoIP services. Customers may setup call queues, an auto-attendant (i.e. IVR menus), record calls and fax among many other features. Another great add-on is the inclusion of Nomorobo. This 3rd party service is specifically designed to block spam calling such as telemarketers and other well-known, blacklisted numbers.
If you run IP PBX software, SIP Trunking services are available for such systems. The Service Level Agreement (SLA) provides 99.999% uptime (thats less than 6 minutes of downtime per year) with 3 fully redundant co-located switching facilities. Virtually any mainstream PBX system (such as Asterisk, 3CX, Elastix, FreePBX etc.) can utilize 1-VoIP SIP Trunking to enjoy major cost saving benefits, though a consultation with customer service is necessary for exact pricing.
1-VoIP provides 24/7 customer service and technical support via phone and email with 100% based US support staff.
One frustrating aspect of the site is the lookup feature for International calling. Some countries are difficult to find because of the way the input field works. Keep in mind, it is best to contact a customer service representative for more involved setups when distinct details are required.
Little information is provided pertaining to how the configuration process works. Many may want to know if a designated company admin converts settings or if a 1-VoIP representative must alter settings. For clarification, web administration is possible for business phone systems.
Make sure you keep any hardware provided by 1-VoIP for free in good shape as you will need to return it within 14 days of any cancellation of services. Otherwise you will be charged for the equipment.
Though a few bits of information are lacking, the company offers straightforward pricing and the standard set of VoIP service features. Residential customers have several options as do businesses, not to mention SIP trunking service is offered for custom systems. Anyone seeking a new communication system should strongly consider contacting this company to see if services are a good fit.

Excellent 5 star service! 1-Voip found a nice workaround for any 1-800 number issues I was having. I know they really worked at getting things setup correctly, as I live in rural Quebec. The only other provider was Telebec, a division of Bell. It is good but very expensive. The switch to 1-Voip is running very well. I am now with them at least eight months or so. I forget exactly! Always very nice people on the phone and through e-mail. I don't even use all the features, I just want to pick up and dial! The messaging works well, as well as an anonymous setup if you wish. My issue was 1-800 Quebec numbers. The trick is to have them setup to dial without the toll free part, as it does not cost me anything. Only Quebec government numbers failed me, but 1-Voip has fixed the ones I needed. My local 819- 648 would not work, and that is resolved as well. All in all, price, features, service, this is 5 Star stuff! I do not rate products much, I either hate them or love them! P.S. Also, being on a disability, these 800 Quebec numbers are essential to me. The government possibly uses an out of Canada number blocker, though they claim they do not. It does not matter now. All is fixed!

The only problem I've had was sometimes I have an echo and when my Internet slows down the person I'm calling has a hard time hearing me. This is not a problem with 1-VOIP but with my Internet provider I believe.

I am happy with 1-VoIP, especially for the price. While it does not provide quite the same number of services we get with VOIPo on our other phone, the services provided are very good, and worth every penny.

Getting started was very easy. The transition from landline to VoIP was seamless. Customer service is knowledgeable and willing to help. The savings is very noticeable.

I've been very happy with 1-VoIP. A couple of sound quality and connection issues were solved within minutes (yes, minutes) of contacting customer service, and contacts are always followed up on to be sure I'm happy. I highly recommend 1-VoIP.

This is my first feedback ever in my life time for any service provider, believe me or not.. you can think how deeply it has affected to me. Even if it helps one person that would be great. If 1-VoIP understand the customer better, it helps everyone. Pros: Service will pickup the call quickly Cons: First three months my adapter phone didn't work at all, always had challenges to configure. Poor service, very irresponsible. The customer is not at all important. VOIP app (Zyper) never works, always has issues. Always hold app calls saying controlling any spam calls, it is hard to believe and identify ourselves for half hour and response is technical team will work on next Monday. Kind of real hassle if you are outside and have to make important calls .. response always is wait entire weekend. Land line - connected via adapter always complains from other side party that they are unable to hear the voice properly. No great amplification. I am fed up calling customer support and gave up long back. Every week I will be having same issue and no permanent solution at all. More over big cracking joke for me is check with mobile service provider to support. I have multiple VoIPs on my phone, never worked with mobile providers for VoIP configuration.

I can't say enough about this excellent service. I have been through them all and had nightmares with all of them. I called 1-VoIP and asked for help as I am a busy person and don't have time to troubleshoot everyone's problems on their services, especially when you know it's their problem and not yours. This is the only service, including others outside of a VOIP service that I have had no problems with whatsoever and I will not be switching anywhere else.

I've been a customer since 2007 and have had excellent service. There are times when I've had problems making international calls but their customer service has always been excellent to respond to my problems and to make sure they are resolved in a timely manner. They don't have as many fancy features as other providers but they provide consistent, reliable, and reasonably priced service.

Can I forward calls to my tablet on the same phone number? If so can I set rules for forwarding so that it doesn't forward at certain times.
-> Response: 1-VoIP, and indeed many providers, have the ability to download a soft-phone for your smartphone/tablet which can be used to make and receive phone calls (providing you have an Internet connection).
You can also forward calls to any phone number of your choosing. However, in the case of the tablet, this would likely just be configured as a simultaneous ring where both your home phone and soft-phone ring at the same time.
Regarding call forwarding at certain times, this would usually be considered a business class feature where you can set time conditions accordingly.
