Customer service is horrible. Long waits but techs know their stuff - sometimes. Have not been able to reach a billing person for days. They just throw charges at you - no explanation and no way to find out what they are.

Because we have 2 offices in different areas (Guam and Hawaii), we have been trying to a find a phone system that can integrate both offices. In addition, I regularly commute from southern California where my family lives so I needed a phone system that would allow me to be virtually at the Hawaii office, even though I was in California. We needed a phone system that would ring in Hawaii, Guam and in California and allow our clients to reach our staff where ever they may be. We looked at a VOIP with a PBX system but found out that it would cost us several thousand dollars (over $5,000) in hardware/software investment. First of all, we are a small firm, and second, we definitely could not afford to make a $5,000 investment in a VOIP/PBX system. After searching the web and reading features of the Packet8 Virtual office system with a hosted PBX, and an email correspondence with a Packet8 representative that they would soon be offering 808 Hawaii area code numbers (approximately about 90 days), we decided to test this VOIP system. We ordered 3 phones initially (the minimum) with one phone in Guam, one in Hawaii and one in California. Set up took a little while and I had to call Packet8 customer service for assistance. But after changing some settings on my router (and I would suggest that you do purchase a router with a QOS feature as Packet8 recommends to enhance and stabilize sound quality), the phones were up and running. After a short learning curve and becoming familiar with the system, Packet8's Virtual Office system has definitely allowed our offices to become more integrated (with yours truly being part of that integration). We have since added 2 additional extensions (for a total of 5) and we also have an auto-attendant with features that are similar to those PBXs' of large companies. My only complaint is that Packet8 does not offer local Hawaii 808 numbers and it has been more than 90 days since that Packet8 representative corresponded with me via email. And it appears that it will be some time before they (Packet8) will be able to offer 808 area code numbers. In addition, Packet8's unlimited long distance nationwide (domestic) calling service included in the Virtual Office plan include Puerto Rico and I believe the US Virgin Islands, along with all 50 states, but they do not include Guam (a U.S. Territory like US Virgin Islands) which is part of the U.S. and the North American dialing system. And because Packet8 does not offer an 808 based number, we have had to have our primary Hawaii land line number forwarded to our Packet8 auto-attendant number (which is a 714 area code) which then creates long distance charges for our local Hawaii incoming calls. I wish Packet8 would provide me a toll-free number (at their expense) where I can forward my primary Hawaii land line number, until they can come through with 808 Hawaii area code numbers. Another draw back is that you can't connect a fax machine to a Packet8 phone line. Overall, the Packet8 Virtual office phone system is a great system so far. Once you become familiar with the system, you can administer the system on-line. I would highly recommend the Packet8 Virtual Office system to small and mid-size businesses. I truly believe in this VOIP system that if ever given the opportunity, I would love to be able to sell and market it.
