FonAngle Review by WhichVoIP.com

FonAngle offers cost-effective voice and data services that include hosted office phone system, SIP trunking, Internet bonding, Internet service and call center service in addition to selling IP phones and hardware.

The Good

Flexible billing options with "per line" or "per user" rates make this an attractive options for phone service. Multiple plans are available to offer more options for small to mid-size businesses:

  • Hosted Office Phone System plans - offers low rates based on the number of users and unlimited calls to the USA and Canada.
  • MeshLINQ - provides accelerated bandwidth and a higher quality of online service. Unlike other competitors who lock their clients into only one carrier company, FonAngle offers connectivity for up to 8 different connections from up to 8 different carriers via this Internet bonding service.
  • FreedomSIP - SIP trunking plans with flat monthly rates for unlimited calls and special features. Available contract-free allowing more versatility for small businesses who prefer to operate on a month-to-month plan while expanding their clientele.
  • Call Center Plus - plans for automatic call distribution and analytics.
  • Broadband Internet plans in addition to feature add-ons that users can supplement to any plan such as conference calling for up to 20 people, virtual international and local phone numbers, instant messaging, faxing, call recording and adding a toll-free number to your business.

It is somewhat rare to see a providers Service Level Agreement (SLA) being communicated so clearly while being easy to find on the website. The Fonagle SLA is impressive and provides 99.999% uptime availability. No doubt this is possible due to the fact that the company has invested in network infrastructure that is scalable, reliable, secure and redundant while being monitored 24/7/365. Customer support is also available on a 24/7 basis in addition to an extensive suite of tutorials and manuals.

FonAngle makes it easy to switch over to its service by proving reliable technical support while supporting multiple different adapters and phones. FonAngle can easily transfer multiple landline phone numbers over to its enhanced VoIP service ensuring a smooth transition that doesn't impact office productivity.

The number of features available is comparable to other popular VoIP companies such as Vonage and Ringcentral. All of these providers offer staple benefits like caller ID, customizable voicemail features, call waiting, call recording and voicemail to email applications. The features that primarily make FonAngle different are call center services and Internet bonding services.

Hardware compatibility is great with support for four different brands of IP phone handsets: Yealink, Polycom (includes conference phones), Cisco SPA, and Aastra. Some of these handsets have a bonus video screen attached for convenient video calls and online meetings.

The trial period guarantee allows customers to have a refund of the equipment and activation fees if they aren't satisfied with their new VoIP service within the first 30 days of use (minus a 20% restocking fee for phones). Also note that you cannot exceed 500 minutes of calling during this period if you want the full refund.

The Bad

While businesses can select a flat, monthly rate for unlimited calls, there are still extra charges to maintain virtual local numbers and virtual international numbers. There is also a $14.95 per month charge for 600 minutes of conference calling with up to 20 participants while the unlimited minute conference calling plan will set you back $34.95 per month. Some providers include a certain amount of conference calling as part of the regular service plan at no additional cost.

Small businesses can customize their plans to an extent, but only larger companies with 12 or more users can access all of FonAngle's exclusive features like multi-queue routing and support for dialed-number identification service to determine which types of automatic-answering messages to play for each caller. Unlimited calling the USA and Canada is also not available in the professional plan and there is no mention of how many minutes are actually allowed prior to being charged on a per minute basis.

Enhanced 911 (E911) is not available and instead 911 calls are routed to a national emergency call center. This center will then request an address and then route the 911 call to the emergency response center that is closest to your location. Callers may also need to provide or confirm the callback number. Providers that include E911 service directly route all 911 calls to the nearest emergency response center.

Unlimited calling plans follow a fair use policy that means you cannot exceed 500 fax pages or 3,000 minutes of calling in any 30 day period. Be aware that per minute charges apply after exceeding these limits.

The site appears somewhat dated as there have been no articles, news or blogs posted in more than a year.

The Bottom Line

  • With Hosted Office Phone System plans, companies pay as little as $14.95 per user.
  • FreedomSIP plans are only $29.95 per month for basic services and unlimited calls within the USA and Canada, or lower-volume businesses can pay $14.95 per month for 500 minutes. These prices are among the lowest in the industry, making these plans highly economical.
  • Conference calling for 600 minutes costs $14.95 per month, and users pay 2.9 cents per minute when they exceed their 600 minutes in any given month. Unlimited conference calls within the USA are only $34.95 per month.
  • New handset phones start at $99.95 and go up to $379.95 for a business-video phone with an attached seven-inch touch screen.
  • Get toll-free numbers for only $4.95 per month for 100 minutes, $39.95 per month for 1,500 minutes, $199.95 per month for 10,000 minutes, and get a free quote for further discounts on higher-volume calling plans.
  • Send unlimited faxes for $14.95 per month, spend $4.95 for every additional local phone number, and get many more add-on features like instant messaging for additional fees.

Overall Thoughts

Overall, FonAngle makes switching over to its services easy with the help of high-quality customer service and technical support; plus, they have many adjustable pricing plans that businesses can tailor to suit their needs and their budget. Be sure that you are comfortable with and clearly understand this version of 911.
