    Default General Business VoIP question

OK basic question. Currently using landlines for my small business. Looking to move to VoIP to save money and get some neat features. Confused by terminology - what is Hosted VoIP service?
Sorry if this has been answered 100 times already guys!

Hosted VoIP is basically a service where all you need is phones and Internet at your site. All the "smarts" are done at the service provider. They "host" the VoIP service for you, also referred to as Hosted PBX, and route all your calls for you. Takes the maintenance headache away from you or your IT guys.

To complete the information. The alternative to a 'Hosted' PBX, is to have the PBX or phone equipiment at your location rather than within the service providers permise. There are pros and cons of each approach, with having the PBX in your locaiton being that you have more control and flexibility, where as having the PBX at the service provider being that you have less maintenance and configuration.

Each one is a valid option, and it typically depends on how large of an organization you are. Small companies typically would be best of with a hosted PBX.

A simple solution can be voip mobile dialer.
Mobile dialer is a softphone is interfaced with cell phone to voip service provider hosting server.
So Michael you need to think about softphone to your cell phone to switch from landphone to voip calls.

    Hi Michael,

Even I used to have the same doubt in my doubt for many days. Our company also recently connected Hosted PBX service. It is nice to have this service. I heard we can have a call us button on our website from which we can get directly calls to our phone extensions. we can even customize our extensions accordingly to sales, support etc., and many more......

I would really encourage you to have hosted pbx(Hosted VOIP).
