    Default Vonage

    I was very unhappy with Vonage phone service. Since I activated that phone service earlier this year I have had problems with it. The service was choppy so much that I usally had to reboot the modem and router. Even though they say no contract they do have a one year contract. If you cancel before one year is up then they charge you $39.99 to cancel and your monthly bill also. When I canceled mine it cost me about $70.00. I would not suggest vonage to anyone considering a broadband phone company. I would highly recommend going with one of the other companies.

    Hi Ashley.

    Most of the voip providers allow you to cancel your service but often they have a set period of time (e.g. 30 days) that you must cancel within to prevent paying the cancellation fee:

    From Vonage T&Cs:

    Money Back Guarantee; Limitations and Conditions.

    (a) Residential, Vonage Office Anywhere™ and Small Business Customers. We offer a thirty (30) day money back guarantee from the date of activation of your Service (different periods apply for Retail Customers depending on the applicable offer details contained in the advertising or online content of the retail store or dealer that sold the Retail Customer the Equipment). The money back guarantee applies only to the first-ordered line per account, not to additional or secondary lines. We will refund the activation fee, the monthly charge for the first month of Service, shipping charges and the disconnection fee provided that:

    - you have not exceeded 250 minutes of usage (500 minutes for Retail Customers);
    - you cancel your Service within the applicable period;
    - prior to returning the Device to us, you obtain a valid return authorization number from our customer care department, which can be reached at billing@vonage.com or 1-VONAGE-HELP, and you return the Device to us if purchased at www.vonage.com in original condition, normal wear and tear excluded, within fourteen (14) days after the date of cancellation of your Service; and
    - the Device is returned in the original packaging with the UPC or bar code intact and is accompanied by all components, accessories, parts, manuals, registration cards and other documentation.
    Vonage may not be able to refund all federal excise taxes and any other applicable taxes. You will be responsible for any charges for international usage, payphone calls to Vonage toll free numbers and directory assistance. We reserve the right to disconnect or revoke this money back guarantee at any time, without prior notice.

    We hope this does not put you off VoIP, we all use it and genuinely love the service. Do you have a good broadband connection (uplink and downlink) and do you have data routers in your equipment setup? Both of these things ultimately affect how good your voice service will be over your broadband connection.

    Thanks.

    Read the reviews section, it will show you who are the top guys.

    I don't think vonage is one of them.... and while I'm at it, it's defenitly NOT packet8.
