    Default Voicemail only with LocalNumberPortability?

    Hi,

I ended up here as Voip seemed to be the only way to get affordable voicemail to replace an existing landline, i.e. I don't need to make or receive calls, but want to keep the same number for voicemail purposes. I made the mistake of choosing VoiceEclipse. I have now been on hold for, I kid you not, 2 hours and 16 minutes, trying to contact customer service to see how the LNP request is going (it's been a month since I activated my account and requested it -- no dice yet).

I was wondering though if anybody knew of any companies that offer voicemail only with LocalNumberPortability in the Seattle area?

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi,

There are lots click here. These are a list of all voip providers who have LNP and voicemail sorted by price. I assume it is a 206 number you want.

Thanks for the quick reply Calum.

I was actually looking for a voicemail *only* provider (i.e. not one that even provides Voip) with the hope customer service would be more accessible (fewer tech problems to deal with) and perhaps cheaper too. I know, somewhat off topic for this site, but I thought I would ask.

BTW, since it was toll free, I just left myself holding VoiceEclipse's service/billing line. I finally hung up more than 12 hours later (after their office closing time) with no answer. Amazing. You cannot cancel your account online either, you need to call this line that nobody answers. That's one way to retain customers!

I managed to find an email for someone at their parent company (US LEC -- a reputable mainline ISP), so at least I've got a contact with a human now. I'm not sure it I want to give them another chance (they lost my LNP request made a month ago) or move on to anther provider. Earthlink has a very cheap measured service and must have better customer service.

    David.

Try Netzero, I believe they have a free service for voicemail where they give you a local number and email you the voicemail. I tried it out and it's pretty cool and works well.

    Hope this helps.

Yes Andy, but NetZero doesn't offer LNP with their voicemail (nor would any free service I suspect). I was looking for a pay service the would preserve the number now associated with my land line.
