Default Requesting Review of CDN Usage of VOIP

I'm finding all this VOIP information overwhelming so would appreciate some opinions from Canadians using VOIP especially in the province of Manitoba. I'm leaning towards VoipYourLife

Default Continuation of Request for CDN Opinions of VOIP

OOooops....didn't mean to cut myself off from previous post. Manitoba it seems, is somewhat limited to service providers for VOIP in rural areas (where I am). People living in the 2 largest urban centers have more options. As I'm not familiar with the "language" that I've seen I would appreciate having some guidance in asking intelligent questions in order to gain quotes. My internet service provider provides wireless high-speed WAN.

What is the minimum data transfer required? What am I going to need for hardware/software add-ons?

So what do Canadians have to say?? I'll be grateful for any or all information you provide me! THANKS IN ADVANCE.

    Hi.

I am not Canadian but just wanted to make sure you were aware of our latest VoIP for Canadians page on this site:
    http://www.whichvoip.com/voip/canada_voip.htm

We have 5 featured providers and you can find reviews for all of them.

You need at least 100kb/s uplink speed for VoIP (due to the codecs inside the ATA). However if you want to have a VoIP call and the internet running at the same time you obviously need a lot more. Downlink is rarely an issue these days as all broadband providers seem to give at least 1Mb/s. Shouldn't need anything else, broadband modem and the VoIP provider will give you the ATA adapter. Some providers will give you softphone software for your PC for free too.

Hope this helps but I would like to hear from the Canadians out there too.

    Andy

    Hello:
I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada and I was with Primus Canada Talkbroadband service since 2005 and have been very disappointed with them. Their customer service and support are extremely poor. Recently I was without a phone for over five days, that was it for me with Primus. I have been connected with VoipYourLife for only five days it took 10 days to get the adapter and did not pay duty for it. Their customer and support is the best in the industry and you do not have to wait long, they answer right away. I am very impressed with them. I would recommend them. I ordered the premier unlimited $23.97 US even with the exchange rate it would work out to be $29.14 I think the lowest upload data rate is 128 mbps I have high speed lite and it works great with their service. All you need is high speed internet and a phone and their adapter. Connect with customer service they are very friendly and helpful. VoipYourLIfe is the best there is out there for Canadians!! Nothing else measures up to their service. Everything comes down to customer service and support and if you don't have that, how good is the company?
