Default Help! Having problems with Vonage VOIP

Hi! I have been using Vonage VOIP for almost two years, with a Motorola VT1005V phone adaptor. I've had no problems until the last day or so, when the green light on the adaptor continuously blinks on and off. I tried calling Vonage tech support and their staff insisted that something was "wrong" with my computer (um, don't think so, it's a brand-new Optiplex) because they couldn't fix the problem. Is it an issue with the adaptor? I can't get a dial tone. I bought it at Best Buy in 5/2004. Let me know what else you might need to know to figure out what the problem might be...thx!

    Hi,

Did you have a power outage in the last couple of days? moved the modem? changed ISP? Without your setup it's hard to know where to start but here are a few suggestions.

Try logging into the modem with the default IP address (probably http://192.168.102.1/) you should get the admin screen and see if the device has an IP address assigned. Flashing lights on a modem usually mean that the modem can't get an IP address. If this is the case make sure you are setup for DHCP and try cloning your MAC address (this should be one of the options in the modem). Once this is done, try powering up everything in order staring with the piece of equipment closest to your phone jack/cable point depending if you have DSL or cable. If that does not work then.....

You could remove the PC from the setup and contact Vonage again although as you say it's unlikely the PC could be having an effect.

If you know anyone who as the same adaptor you could try swapping it out.

    Regards,
    Calum
