I have been looking at voip provider called Acanac. They offer unlimited service for as low as $9.95.
Does anyone have any information about their quality, customer service, etc.?

Hi,
Just a word of caution about Acanac: STAY AWAY!!!!
Our experience with Acanac's VOIP service was the following:
1) Sandro - the lead tech (not sure what his exact title is) is a great guy, very accommodating with good intentions. However, he is only one individual, and when you call into tech support, you are guaranteed to be jerked around, lied to, misled, and generally have your time wasted.
2) The quality of service (from a technical/sound quality standpoint) was fair to EXTREMELY awful. At the best of times we would have callers tell us about echoes and "tinni-ness" - tried replacing our phone/handset but this did not help. Most often after about 15 minutes of conversation, the person on the other end would not be able to hear us at all even though we could hear them.... result would be having to try calling again and this would sometime correct the problem on the first try - sometimes would take a few attempts.
3) Several (many times per week) outages where the VOIP service would not dial out at all.
4) Often times when trying to dial certain 1-888 or 1-800 toll free numbers the VOIP service would not work at all (just would not make the call to them).
5) When trying to use any sort of touch tone service (ie: calling into voice mail and trying to enter your passcode or trying to respond to touch tone automated menus) the numbers would not register or in some cases would give the wrong tone (ie: press 3 and end up with the option as if you had pressed 5) the mixups were random and not always consistent. Sometimes it would work - but most of the time it would not.
6) Billing - advertised initially as a $19.95 all inclusive service when we signed up, however at some point they began billing us $29.95 and trying to cancel was a huge headache
To sum it up - we ended up paying for a service that was pretty much unusable.
