    Default Winfax Pro

I'm having problems getting my faxes to work using VOIP even with a fax line on my VOIP box. I call the fax line and I get the fax siginal but when I try it through the computer using WINFax Pro It does not go through to the fax machine with the I guess the signal to make a fax work. The VOIP company I use said to make sure to lower the Baud rate to the lowest setting and to increase the packet of info to maybe 40-50 or higher, to turn off the EMC(which I did), resolution to standard, studder tone to dial after the studder tone( voice messages left in voicemail box leaves a studder tone on the phone). When I did a port or com test in the Winfax properties I get these results- port speed 4800, com3 modum found: 14400 bpts max fax speed transmission, 14400 bpts max recieving fax speed: Fax Class: class1,class2,class2.0; voice type: voice101. I would appricate any help with this situation as to not having to pay for tech. help from sysmatec. Thanks

    Hi,

What provider are you using and what ATA do you have?
Paying for tech support does not sound right!!

How many sheets do you fax a month? If you are only faxing a few sheets a month then, assuming you are paying 10 bucks a month for the fax line there are cheaper alternatives.

    Default WinFax Pro

The name of the company is ACN and the fax line is about $5.99/month. When I call a fax machine using the Winfax Pro program it sends out the fax signal about twice and then it stops but my fax program will not pick it up because the signal stops too soon. So I don't know if its the company or the Winfax program or something else.

    Hi,

There are many reasons why FAX may not work over VoIP and typically they have to be fixed by your provider, winfaxpro, you or a combination.

Here are a few suggestions though.

    1) Ensure that echo cancellation is not turned on in your ATA for the fax line(ACN can tell you how to do this). Echo cancellation, depending on how it is implemented can distort the fax signal enough that the fax machine cannot understand it. Listening to it, you could not tell the difference.

    2) If you are using a low bit rate codec for the fax channel this would prevent faxes form being completed but would probably not cause the problem you have. If you can change the code to a u-law or a-law codec then try it(Again ACN can tell you what CODECS are available for you).

    3) If the ATA can be set up for T.38 (Fax over the internet protocol) then try this.

Sometimes with the internet, the delay in sending and receiving messages and the jitter over IP networks just prevents faxes from completing.

If none of this works you could look for a new provider that has fax capability or try a service like efax of send2fax .

    Hope this helps.

Default Baud Rate is best at 9600 baud

I'm now experiencing flawless faxing using an HP.
I'm not necessarily an HP fan, however, it is working for me.
I'm using a dedicated fax line through VOIP YourLife.
Dennis at VoIP YourLife helped me recalibrate my fax line adapter.
Baud Rate is best at 9600 baud.
Also, turn off Automatic Error Correction.
    I hope this helps,
    Steve
