AT&T DSL Compactable with 3rd Party VoIP?

I need help. I live in the BellSouth (now AT&T) market and I called to order their DSL and I told them that I look forward to obtaining VoIP from a 3rd part, such as 'via-talk'. They told me that their technology will not be compactable with any 3rd party VoIP. They said, I would have to obtain my VoIP from them also, if I needed any VoIP.

Is this true?

Have not heard this before and very poor form if this is the case. They could block it but I find it hard to believe.

Agree with Andy here, this seems a little odd.

If you are signing up for AT&T then you might want to check out some of their special sign-up offers (only available through internet sign-up). Might save yourself a few dollars.
