    Default Lingo Help Pls

    Hi

I can 't get rid of the static noise what i have on the line when i use the phone.

I have cable internet,i am using Philips CD4452B/37 phone with Lingo .

The setup is MODEM---------> LINGO ADAPTOR-------->PHONE

It s so frustrating cause the reason i bought a DECT 6.0 phone was to not interfere with any electronic device and be " CRYSTAL CLEAR "..and here i go...static noise

I tried ASDL filter...it s the same...i change the cables...the same...tried an older phone ...nothing...switching everything up & down, left and right...the noise is still there...

Any ideea what could be the problem???

    Hi.

See this article which may help you get to the bottom of this:
    http://www.whichvoip.com/Intermitten...voip-phone.htm

Let us know what speeds you are seeing on your broadband connection for uplink and downlink before and during the Spekaeasy speedtests highlighted in the article above.

    Also:
    - Have you tried your Lingo box on a neighbors broadband (e.g. using comcast cable).
    - Was your old phone a wired phone or wireless phone. Try a regular wired phone.
    - Assume you do not have all the phone sockets connected to your Lingo Adaptor.
    - Do you still hear the noise when someone calls you rather than you making a call out?

Let us know your findings. I use Lingo at home and have no problems although I use Comcast for broadband side.

    Thanks for your reply Andy,

I did the ping test and got the following result:
    packets sent: 100 received: 100 lost: 0%
approx round trip times: Min: 14 Max: 29 Avg: 19

I did this same test during the speakeasy test as you specified ( that is what i undersood you wanted) and here are the results:
    packets sent: 100 received: 99 lost: 1%
approx round trip times: Min: 14 Max: 143 Avg: 26

I have not tried my box on a neighbor's broadband.

I have always had a wireless phone but tried a wired phone and am getting the same static noise.

I only have one phone attached to my adapter. The other two sockets don't work.

I hear the static noise at all times...even when there is no call in progress...with the tone I hear the noise.

I did the Speakeasy test 3 separate times.
First I did it three times when the phone was not in use.

    Results:
    1: DL 655 UL 780
    2: DL 690 UL 836
    3: DL 948 UL 785

    Results during conversation:
    1: DL 349 UL 615
    2: DL 405 UL 641
    3: DL 346 UL 731

Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks for your help!

We have not forgotten about you

I had trouble with my call quality in terms of echo and speech delay. In the end I had to phone Lingo and they eventually reset my modem and set it up to use the other phone Jack on the ATA. It's been fine since. It's unfortunate but Lingo do not let users have much, if any access, to the features of the ATA so most of the setup has to be done by them.

If you have not phoned the support line I would do this next. They will probably get you to do the same tests that Andy has suggested so bear with them.

The last thing I can think of is this.

I'm not sure what CODEC Lingo uses(I think it's a G711) and I don't think it can be changed by you, however try phoning them and get them to change it to a G729 Codec, to see if the hiss is removed. The G729 codec, by it's design, eliminates higher and lower frequency sounds that can be heard using other codecs. If they don't support the G729, then ask to be switched to the least efficient one they have. This will use more bandwidth but with less voice compression some of the hiss may be removed.

If this does not work see if they will swap out your ATA?

    Cheers
