    HI,
    I am new to voip.Could anybody just tell me what is the major difference between a Pstn line and a voip connection?

    Hi,

    there are a lot of technical differences (which if you really care are described on the site) but in reality the only difference to care about is that the different technologies have a different price associated with them.

    For PSTN, there is essentially a physical line from your phone to the destination phone dedicated during the call. Whereas with VoIP, due to its techology your call is sharing the same physical line with other calls at the same time (though completely safe from each other). This sharing of the lines ensures that the cost is reduced.
